No, that isn't "the deal"--the ships are there in a standard game of X3. Have you installed any scripts or mods that might have moved those ships? One of Cycrow's helpfully moves them around to make them harder to find (for people who don't want their positions handed out on a plate)...there may be others.

Remember the coordinates listed here are in kilometres, while the game map shows distances in metres--that's caught a few people out.

Yeah, I was one of them

I was using jump gates coordinates before that, so got cought in m-km web

- There are never 2 Pandora containers in a single sector. If you read a Pandora message about a sector where you've already collected one there won't be another container! You are just unlucky to find the same pandora message twice.

Wrong.

I once had an engine and an rudder tuning in the same sector.

A Pirate Nova Raider is offered as one of the Pandora prizes. That and the Express Hauler are the only two ships offered via a Pandora message, as far as I know.

It's random. iirc, there are some specific areas the actual items can spawn, but the BBS messages can be anyplace.

In my last game I got bored of repeatedly getting messages for the same sector and just cheated to find the last couple

All coordinates have been checked by myself, so they cannot be wrong. Really, they can't.

To easily reach a specific location in the sector order your ship to "Move to position" and use the numeric keypad to select the location. Use INS to flip the map; this way you can select the height.
Some of these goodies need the 2.0 update. Be sure to have it. It rocks.

** Doesn't seem to be there at the start of the game. I think I already had done the story line after I found it. ukdj78 lets me know that it was there after he won the race. (Perhaps one of the racers gave up and bailed ship? ^_^ )

It is there quite early - I just got it and I only have 1:00:17 on flying clock. I haven't done any plot, besides the very beginning shooting bit.
Vanilla 2.5 game.

What numeric values are you talking about, exactly? If you mean coordinates, you only see those on the sector map, not on the screen while you're just flying around.
