Just put in two new sections:
Part one and a half: I don’t want to go find a free ship; I want to do it legit!
Part Nine: Combat and other things! Missiles??
Thought that information might add a bit to it, mainly for the request of other people, props go out to you at the bottom of the guide!
Also fixed the typo pointed out.

Yeah thanks for the guide although, (and I do not mean to offend), a complete rehash to get rid of the ramblings would be helpfull.
Just the tips, none of the personal stuff would be good.
I had a 12 page word document from cut n pasting your 'guide' whittled down to just under 5 !!
As I say I don't mean to offend, the guide is good but keep it impersonal and it's easier to read.

I agree, buying doing this you are not learning anything, wot happens when you can't get a free ship. Besides, it defeats the object of playing the game. If we don't want to trade build exspand. Why did we buy itoctessence wrote:Excellent guide, although I disagree with starting out by going straight to a free ship. If you find it yourself, fair enough.
By doing this you are missing out of the struggle at the beginning of the game, and appreciating the new equipment each time you get enough cash to buy it. For me, experiencing new things you can do as you progress is the most enjoyable part.
It's like starting out on half-life. If you had lots of weapons to start with, you'd miss out on the fun you get from picking up new ones.

The rest of the guide is very professional and thought out I have to say...
I think you stole the show in the guides thread mate!
At least for the time being, nice work!

Added a control section, i just riped them straight from default game settings. Fixed a few small errors in some wording ect. Oh and edited the first section a bit.
Also, thanks Apocholypse, it seems that the commuinty likes the guide and that makes me happy. I wasnt sure if people were even going to give it a good looking through but it seems it has far surpassed my expectations.
I shall continue to update things if i find the time/need for it.

Well, i got the free ship (although not at the beginning) but i didn't sell it because its a rare ship. Personally, i'm keeping it for maybe a cheap cargo transporter when i buy a factory. (only 1000 cargo but its free and thats ok for more expensive goods that aren't sold in bulk).
I agree with capping though. From the start you already have enough to start capping and by the time you cap your first teladi vulture, if the hull is good, you can get about 450k or more. Thats enough to upgrade your ship or work toward buying a new one. While capping is frustrating it can be a good way to get started with enough credits to fund other schemes.

i restarted in 1.3 (after wiping my pc)
and capping now is alot harder as the pirates, have better weapons, travel in well armed group and swarm sectors, 1.2 i wiped the floor with pirates in eleana's fortune (my buster armed with 2 pac's and 4 bires) i a short time i got 4 or 5 falcons, starting again in 1.3 the pirates tend to fill boarder sectors and are alot harder to beat. i noticed my ires are alot weaker against them (shame as they had a high rof and didnt eat the busters power generator)
this is a shame really, now hardcore gamers have more of a challenge, but new players have a much harder time getting started. i dont have time to play much (since 1.3 my ingame time is 13hours) and that is spent pirate capping, the thing is i havent capped a single pirate ship. my hull is down to 80% with no money to repair it.
so the free ships seem like the only option to getting started for new players.
theres my 2 cents dude

Great guide, including the personal bits and the ramblings.
I now got a nova with four PAC's and capping pirates is easy peasy now.
(I also got 10m creds but the beggar still won't sell me a factory.)
Oh well, back to hunting pirates. I have managed to destroy one Kha cluster, but that might have been a fluke. maybe with two more Nova's........
Great guide for a great game, cheers Relief, thx for the effort.

For other noobs, or knobs in my case, having re-read your guides, you need a mammoth DOCKED to buy a factory, I've just bought a Solar power plant and am every so pleased.
and managed to work out how to get a freighter to buy crystals. need to go to bed now, cream crackered after all that working out.
