I don't recall actually getting anything free in X3's plot....oh, well there is that one mine. Not sure if it works or not, haven't tried putting any energy cells in it. Maybe it works, maybe it don't, but that's all I actually remember gaining from the plot.

As for Nyanna's Hideout in v1.3, I've done it. There's no dead-end, but I've heard others comment on that particular part. One tip I've heard others use, is to increase their gamma settings for that mission. It helps you to see things a bit, including helping you see which way to go. The particular dead-end looking spot, from what I remember reading from others, the way out is hidden away behind a rock, so at first glance it's not noticeable. Just keep looking around, and you should spot it, should be on the low side of things, if you haven't flipped your bird around.

I went to the center of Xenon sector 101 and flew around the wreck. Theres no crates. I went there a while back but don't recall seeing any crates then either. Is my plot broken? If so that would be like the 5th time in the same game. Thats way too fragile. Could atleast spawn the crates at the start of the mission if they got destroyed god knows when.

According to another walkthrough: 'If for some reason you have already been to this sector and gotten this crystal
your game is now bugged and cannot continue.
This should be fixed in patch 1.3'

When I left the sector Julian said he got some scorch marks on his ship and the Mariani girl said he should get a better ship or try again, then she went hostile on my sector map..grr..what the heck..

The mission has changed--I suggest you read a more recent walkthrough than this one, as will be linked from the stickies at the top. More info:

You have to get close to the M0 wreckage near the middle of the sector. Once you do so, Julian will ask his ship computer to start scanning for crates. The crates you're looking for will gradually pop up, but they'll be scattered, not clustered near you.

Ok, it worked the second time.. odd tho cuz I was just as close to the wreck as I was the first time.

Concerning the Nyanna's Hideout mission I had lots of fun with in, too, when I tried to get through that asteroid yesterday. Even When I finally made it, I heaviely crushed into the wall before I saw (did I actually see it?) the way at the bottom left side... It even happened several times that I lost orientation and flew directly back into the wrong direction... and it was always so shocking when these goggamn little triangle ships appeared streight before me :-/

But now that we are talking about the plot, I might add that I was not totally satisfied with it... just too few connection between the plot and the rest of the game. On the one hand I enjoy one of my very favourite strategy games, on the other hand I always had to do these lil' action parts without thinking at all... I just waited for a mission where I had to leave the ship and fight my way through a base in Jump'n'run style... I would never ever have played the game again ;-)
For the future I would really wish there was a more epic plot that developes in different directions with small under plots and maybe even the possibility to continue the game without succeding the current "level".
In the sector infos there's such a whole lot of interesting information... I still love to fly from sector to sector just to read about the past and present of these systems (and maybe kill some pirates ;-))... why not use these things for the game and make some small plots of it just like in good old RPGs?
