Thanks to Egosoft for the patch

Post by rustamk »

Well, I think I am more or less satisified now. The patch fixed a key issue with the game - frame rates. I don't know what they did but I now get what I expect from my machine, from low-low-noaa-noaf at 4fps or so to high-high-yesaa-noaf at about 15 fps. Turning off aa makes it as smooth as a river on a summer evening.

I am happy, I will not be able to play the game properly. Although the game had a rocky start, it was fixed quickly. I am looking forward to patch 1.3, but I will be looking forward with Ban Danna, not "clippit" in front of my screen.

So yeah, thanks Egosoft! I mean it. Let's say that 11th of November was the proper release date for this game. This previously-dissatisfied player has changed his mind about whether Freelancer will continue to be his ultimate space sim now and always (well, for a long time).

Great work by a great team as usual - you can't fault the effort, that's for sure! :)

Now to see if it works... ;)

Perfect timing for me as well. I had a few save games that crashed earlier this evening. The last one would not reload from a salvage insurance save in Farnhams Legend. It was a pain because I had just captured a pirate with full shields. Since applying the patch, the save now works.

Well done to all involved on the patch. :D

Immediately stop the game, should you experience any of the following symptoms during play:

- dizziness
- altered vision
- eye or muscle twitching
- mental confusion
- loss of awareness of your surroundings
- involuntary movements and/or convulsions

I'll try to follow that in the near future :D
Uh, are you trying (twitch) to say that ****! ARSE! that's not normal? :gruebel:

Ending works great now except for 2 things:
Spoiler
Show
(1) My own ship I had prior to the last missions (last time I was in my own ship) has 1% hitpoints and 1% shield when I get back into it after finding Earth and compleating the plot (well, what I think is compleating the plot). As I was in an Argon Centaur it cost me 9+ mil to repair. Seems strange that you get back to your old ship like that.

(2) I get attacked by Argon Novas after plot eventhough I am Federation Overwatch with the Argon. Shoting at them make me lose standing. Is this correct behavior by the Argons (no I didn't upset them in anyway I know of prior to them attacking).

Edit: They came from the south jumpgate in Argon Prime. Can they be the ships that attacked me when I ran off after beeing declared renegade?
Is these two things working as intended?

I'm going to be crazy by the time I get home. Not to mension I'll have a hard time concentrating on work. Oh well. Great job Egosoft. I'll be Looking forward to the end of my shift.

Well 1.2.01 appears to be working beautifully for me! Reloaded my latest save (where every blemmin thing appeared to crash it!) and it's running great. Framerate wise, while I haven't measured it using FRAPS yet, certainly seems a lot smoother and it really wasn't that bad for me before hand. Menu navigation is totally lag free, as is the mouse cursor. I'm in Queens Space which was certainly one of the more juddery sectors before hand with that nebula effect going on.

Rather chuffed! :-D

Well done guys, most impressed!

Scoob.

thanks for the patch. what kind of "drastic proformance increase" should i be expecting? if anything i'm now getting less proformance after installing 1.2.01 (3-20 fps on all settings). also disabling the hud now makes hardly any difference and has rendered this game mostly unplayable for me (as i was getting 25-45 fps without the hud).

my GFX card is a GeForce 6600GT, XP3000+ CPU, 1GB RAM, Windows XP Pro.

Thanks guys, great work again. :D
When they say drastic they mean a lot, I put everything on high and its beautiful, no lag, SETA 8x.Tthe HUD drop is not noticeable anymore, whether on or off, But argon prime still lags a bit for me, its a bit crazy there, some pirates attacked. Gonna try AA on in the other systems and the planet mission.
Keep up the good work! :D :D
