Fastest triplex scanner capable ship?
I'm supposing this would be an M4 class, since you need the ability to carry M size cargo. I'm running Reunion with the XTM mod if you're wondering. I also wouldn't mind a decent cargo hold (+-50-100 units?) but speed is priority one. Any suggestions? It's planned use is reconnaissance/mapping (who wants to take 2 hrs flying across one large sector?).

I've been completing the BBS missions that require destroying the xenon core processing plants.... And have left all of their ships intact by flying close to the station and then letting their friendly fire take it out for me.... (come on, 95GJ of shielding!!!!). After taking a few hits and taking out some of their ships I jump out after completing the mission... However this habit has finally caught up with me... Every time I do a similar mission, the ships are all still there and there is now over 200 ships in the sector (50-60 capital ships) and I cannot really fight them off or use the 'friendly fire technique' before getting blown away (flying in my Hyperion).
My question is simple:
What's the best tactic for destroying many, many xenon ships? As I have been doing these missions, money is not really an issue...
PS: I tried using my titan but only could kill 2 other cap ships before being destroyed myself.... There's just too many of them!! In fact I tried to lead them away (separate the fighters from the cap ships but there's still too many... I can't isolate them... Too cluttered. You should see my gravidar - it's just all red!!!!

1. Get a bigger cap (like the Tyr, or even the Valhalla)X3prodigy wrote:I've been completing the BBS missions that require destroying the xenon core processing plants.... 2. Jump in and get away as fast as possible. When your shields are going down, jump out and start anew. You should get rid of the small fries first.

Machine Shop - what does it do?
Please help. I've looked for ages for this info and can not find it.
Is there any manual or site which explains the extra features in XTM.
Grateful for any help.
Edit: I've done it again! I was in the XTM Gameplay forum when I posted this and it appears in the Scripts and Modding Forum! Moderator please move and tell me how to make sure it appears in the correct forum next time.

I'm not sure, wether you can install them on any station or just on Equipmentdocks and Tradingstations...strikor wrote:You can put them on TLs and M1s to repair docked ships. I think you can also install them to the HQ. From what I remember they only use credits.
But you can not deinstall it, after you installed it on a station!

Well, this concerns the shonen/goner mission
Thanks

When you get to federation's end and have to save the shipyard from the shonen, is it possible? I've been fighting them with my whole force of M2's and M1's rotating them out and still haven't beaten them before I blow up in my hyperion.... Together I must have killed fleets and fleets of them but they just keep coming!!!

Cheat request - long range scanner. (XTM, guilds)
Hello all,
I've just started a new game (XTM Flight leader start), and I've just taken a level 3 mercenary guild "Khaak Siege" mission in Z'rts Dominion.
With my Mjolnir, I've taken out most of the Khaak ships/clusters, but I still have (at-least) one remaining Khaak Cluster to kill.
I've been spending the last hour+ in SETA crisscrossing the sector, but I cannot seem to find the bugger. (I even brought my Valkyrie with Explorer software and let it "Explore sector 150/100", but nada)
Needless to say, until I find the bugger and kill it, I'll get no money. (And I really need the cash!).
So, before I give up and jump out (effectively failing the mission), any idea how I can temporarily extend the Triplex scanner / Advanced satellite scanners / etc in-order I find the last remaining Khaak Cluster?
I know that there's a "Show map" cheat, but AFAIR it just adds 4-5 Satellites to the sector, which given Z'rts Dominion's huge size, is meaningless.

P.S. I know how to work the different mod managers (Even though I'm playing the Linux versions, all the tools work just fine under Wine), so if someone can point me to the right cat/dat/XML, I'll continue from there.

Re: Cheat request - long range scanner. (XTM, guilds)
1. I have no idea whether XTM includes any possibilities.gilboa wrote:I've just started a new game (XTM Flight leader start), and I've just taken a level 3 mercenary guild "Khaak Siege" mission in Z'rts Dominion.

2. Community Library lists 'Khaakhunter' by Euclid. It has a scan range, 60 km IIRC, but that is easy to edit. Should print position of target(s).
3. There are probably scripts that lay out much extensive satellite grids.

All the radar ranges are in the Types/Globals.txt of Cat 5. Cat 5 is the last Cat that overwites them unless you add more mods/scripts that do.
SG_SCANNER_RANGE_SHIP;5000000;
SG_SCANNER_RANGE_SHIP_UPGRADE2;10000000;
SG_SCANNER_RANGE_SHIP_UPGRADE3;70000000;
SG_SCANNER_RANGE_SATELLITE;25000000;
SG_SCANNER_RANGE_SATELLITE2;100000000;
*** The other option that won't involve editing is to use Scorps Map which also includes a find ship script usable in-game.
If you want to you can edit the radar ranges of ships upgrades and SATsso if someone can point me to the right cat/dat/XML, I'll continue from there.

Yeah, I know cheesy, but I've restarted fully explored universes so many times that now I am playing it like an RTS, huge fleet battles and chasing after all invaders across the map.
It also helps out when you import an old save into a new XTM start.
I still haven't finished the Vanilla or XTM plots and haven't entered Terran space yet.

XTM 0.7.4 Changes (from 0.7.3)
I don't have a TXU forum account, plus I've searched their site and couldn't find an answer.
I've skimmed this thread here also to see if I could find what I was looking for, but no luck, so I'll have to actually ask:
Does anyone know if there is a Changelog covering the changes between v0.7.3 and v0.7.4? The only changelog I can find is for v0.7.4 to v0.7.5, and from what I gather, the .5 revision is a bug fix for .4...
I haven't played X3R for about a year and got back into it, especially now when I found out about the new XTM rev.
But the last rev I was playong was the .3 rev, and my old saves are useless (due to me swapping out machines, so all the plugin settings I don't have anymore...And I know how picky the game can be about missing or re-arranged settings...)
I'm just interested in the changes. (I was mucking around in my old saves for laughs...Until I tried to cap the Yaki OWP's in Senator's Badlands, like I usually did...It used to take about 350-400 Marines on my part...Now the OWP lists a defence force of about 2500...about 5-6x the amount I recall...Things like this I wanna know if it was by design, or because of a bug from the old save rev to new rev. I do know there's more troop types that can actually be used AND purchased...Anything else major?)

Stahn Aileron,
May not help but here's the index and faq links, but TXU usually just overwrites old data so there's no 7.4 specific files.
XTM The Index - Mission and Ship Review Links
XTM Site FAQs - All the Details
And if you already read this link, I'm fairly sure it is the 7.4 changelog because the old original link for 7.4 goes directly to it.

There is nothing new in 0.7.5. This is only a bug fix release for 0.7.4 >>>Click for the full change log<<<
