In a sense  I'm going to blow up the station M's and replace them with L's, then rejoin the complex. You can destroy the links for all stations by destroying the complex basically, like any other station. Only the links will be destroyed, you then have to target each individual station. Naturally the ones you want, you leave. There may well be a script to upgrade, if not you maybe able to do it yourself I'm not sure, check out the modding forum nd some body will help you out. Otherwise no there isn't an Upgrade. Thats unfortunate, it would be useful. But destroying them isn't too bad. At least it gets the job done, and if you've got the cash to afford the complex in the first place, time is the only real consequence. "I loved that station"

Anyway, check it out, if their is please come back and tell because alot of people including myself could make good use of it. :)

I think you should update the guide to mention that ("to replace the stations you need to destroy the old ones, since there is no in-game mechanism to upgrade them"), otherwise people might think that there's some hidden way (or some common mod) to do it. :)

I am new to X3 and just can't get the x y z thing. How do you position your ship based on numbers?

Another thing I am trying to find the East gate of Pontifex Seclusion to get to the unknown sector. I have spent hours trying to find it, can you say where it is? :?

How do I get a jump drive on my buster?

I know exactly what you mean, the co-ordinates are bloody hard to follow. I'll have a look at the Pontefixs seclusion myself when I get back to England, but I'd say for the moment if your having trouble, try using the Insert Key, to monitor hieght and direction visually without the numbers. I've had same problem searching for gates using co-ordinates and I've never found alot of the Unknown Sectors. I would worry to much about the X Y Z, It seems there more for show than assistance lol. Oh and your jump drive, go to the Terror Corp HQ or Gonor Temple and you may purchase a jump drive for your Buster but they do cost 100,000 credits. Also, I'd take a break from story missions until you have yourself more aquainted with the game and so on, and obviously a better ship.
As I said, I'll take a look at that gate for you as soon as I can. It's a problem for most of us finding those gates. :P

Can't get this and its annoying...

Post by Elvisman2001 »

Love the guide.
I cant get this bit though:
"Transfer your trading system extension from the Buster to your mercury (this is your most vital tool). "

I have some sort of "trade software" listed under "installed extensions" but it will NOT let me transfer this over to the mercury.

I can transfer everything else it seems... best buy/best sell.
Or am I looking at the wrong thing?

When I try to transfer the trade software over, it just simply will not transfer. The little transfer slide bar (at the bottom) will not increase.
What am I missing here?

Am I am running the Xtended Mod... could that have anything to do with it?

Two possibilities...one, I noticed in my game, it appears that the one ship doesn't have it, but it does, even though thte bar is not 'blue'. Two, the ship has this software (trade mk1) as a default, it's supplied with the ship and cannot be removed. Maybe something else, but I reckon it's one of those two...

EDIT: Just re-read your post more carefully. Yes, it must be the trade mk1 you are talking about, and the mercury does already have it. That's why it cannot be transferred.

The Trade Command Software MK1, is not the same as a Trading Extension. The reason it won't transfer is because you already have one (the max for any upgrade) on each ship. Check your Buster & Mercury's freight seperatly to find where your trading extension is if your having trouble.

Okie dokie.

So far so good.
I have managed to make over 900,000 credits so far so I am getting close to the point where I will want to buy my first station.

How do I go about finding one of those ships that I need to hail to get my station? I have been looking at the sectors as I fly through them just to see if I can find one of those ships... and so far, I haven't seen 1 of them. Are they rare?

Secondly... do I buy the station first and THEN hail the vessel or do I hail the vessel first, tell it to go to the shipyard and then purchase the station? I think this might be a silly question now that I think about it... but I am just making sure here.

Thanks for the help guys. I would be completely lost without people like you.

Thats great :D Your getting there, it will become faster going once you start setting up stations. It doesn't matter what order you do things in, you can buy the station first and then go get the TL or vice versa. The ships you need are TL's, either Mammoth, Orca, Albatross at this stage. Mammoths are easy to find, they are only in key sectors unless they are building something. Argon Prime and Red Light should have one. Kingdom End will have the Orca. Just fly around for a bit in these sectors, especially near the shipyards, you should find one easily. Then Hail them once your in 7km, follow the instructions in the guide for this, you basically have to get it to dock at the shipyard, load the station, and undock and go plant it where you want it. If you need any clarification please ask. :)

Belated thanks for this, well written and very helpfu.

Just picked up the game after worshipping Elite since I was a 9-year old.
Hope it turns out to be what I hoped.

Thanks for this, however I just want to mention that for a complete and total newb like myself to the world of X whichever, you've assumed some things and told the user that they need to do something but not actually explained how to go about doing that.

A simple example of this is moving some equipment or yourself for that matter from one ship to another.

Im not trying to get an answer on how to accomplish the things that I read in here that I don't know how to do, I just thought you might want to know from a complete newbs perspective it appears full of useful information however it also appears to assume that a newb might have some substantial information under his belt already too.

Thanks again,

Try the x3 Handbook by apricotslice. Its more massive (about 160 pdf pages) and its a collection of guides actually, so you will find tons of information.
