I'm not really sure on that, by the looks of it, the game is still pretty shallow, so to me, I don't think it will work too well for console players.
I think the Xbone will be coming out at the end of this year, Plenty of time can be directed at features before then.

I'm happy about this, I hope we can encounter xbox players.
Krusade wrote:Huh, I can't see this working that well on any of the consoles tbh. Sure the basic controls can be mapped to the pad but in my very brief period playing the game (since Sunday) I've regularly been needing extra buttons that my stick simply doesn't have. However if it does work that's great, and if it sells well, that's even better. I'll be sticking with the PC version though.

Speaking of the PC version as I said I only just started playing at the weekend and only really been able to put a couple of hours in the first of which was simply learning the controls (and learning then again when my new stick arrived in the post). I am enjoying the solo experience thus far, I've got no intension of going multi player until I've learned to play the game a bit and got the hang of combat. Not really done much beyond a few delivery missions. Got about 10k in the bank which won't get me far but I would like to start upgrading my little Sidewinder soon. Any advice as to what I should look at upgrading first?
Xbox controller is actually very good at playing Elite: Dangerous, Since you can assign true 6DOF over your ship and experience more control over your ship than even a x52 pro user, like myself...

There are 2 joysticks on the xbox controller, 1 is assigned to the rotational axes and the 2nd is assigned to the Lateral thrust. That way true Axis control is felt, Much smoother feeling of control like no other.

The closest you can get to this is a full CH setup where the throttle has a similar joystick on it.

Hi :)

It's probably a big cut into your 'bank account' at the moment but one of the must haves, and this becomes even more important when you move on to bigger ships, is a Fuel Scoop, especially as with bigger ships you'll get your investment back in a very short time.

They vary in cost for the Sidewinder, a basic E1 will be about 309cr right up to an A2 which will cost aprox. 284,844cr!...the better the grade the faster it will scoop fuel.

I thought shallow games is what they do on consoles, so it should work just fine :) Also, imagine all those dreaded haxxors torturing poor console users. Frontier would need to put M$ logo on the empty boxes for that :)

According to Frontier forums, it is unlikely because of M$ policies. They want to own you as usual if you use one of their products.

need help or link for some info, last night I helped or had help from local ships to down a pirate that interdicted me.

I received 5k for this, did I get this because (it seemed) I fired last shot or it was just part of a bounty he had.

also doesit matter where you cash bounty outside of the faction that posted it

finally need more info on how system( minor) factions come in to play, with reguard to my growth, is it important to pick one?

You got the last shot and picked up the reward it seems.
on the left hand panel under 'transactions' it will tell you who the bounty voucher is for, whether it's a minor local faction or one of the major factions (Empire, Federation or Alliance) the former need to be cashed in in that local system the later in any allied station to that faction.

Minor factions are of no real consequence at least currently. the major factions you can do missions from the bulletin boards for the various factions, trade with them or take care of their garbage (bounty hunt in their systems for 'wanted' ships). It's not really important, though there is some exclusive stuff to factions and no doubt as time goes on there will be more exclusive stuff, such as Imperial Clipper is only available to people with a rank of Baron in the Empire, I can't think of any other examples.

Hope that helps

ok well that helps me and explains a lot, So if one of the minor factions gives me rep ( work) against another faction in that system, and if that system is controlled or dominated by that faction ( I work against)will I loose access and or increase my probability of interdiction if I travel through or to a station of the friendly faction way out in the orbital plane?

I think you just have to do certain amount of damage to receive the bounty, especially if you compete against NPC ships. They used to steal your kills in some early releases and this is how it got fixed.

Hi folks :)

Well, update '1.2' has arrived for ED, I downloaded it late last night.
Quite a bit of discussion on the Frontier Forums about how expensive the two new ships are, (Fer De Lance & Vulture).

My own personal view after reading up on some info about them...*shrugs*....they do seem a bit expensive considering the roles they possibly have/fulfil in the game at this present time. :?

I'll stick with the Asp for the time being, it covers most of the 'play styles' I'm doing or trying out in the game at the moment.
Still waiting for the planned passenger transport missions to arrive in the game, (Have still got the Orca)....bought and fitted out an 'Adder' for some light combat play last week, so I'm learning & having some fun with that.
I take the Orca out now and again for some trading missions, but with an insurance tag of over 3,000,000 it really isn't earning it's keep in that respect. Might trade it in for something else eventually...I'll wait and see though what future developments come out this year in that respect.
I'm generally mostly trading, but also trying to build up my reputation with several systems/factions/companys in the immediate area to my 'home base'. I'm not quite sure if what I'm doing has a any great effect though. I'm a 'trusted ally'...but I've not advanced much from that! :)

So... :gruebel: ...how's everybody else doing in the ED Galaxy at the moment, still playing?

Got stuck grinding in the Cobra III and got disillusioned and gave up. Just was not having any fun and earning money relies mostly on using 3rd party information like set trade runs which someone else has figured out.

Meh never really liked it, to be honest.

Is it just me, or does the Fer-de-lance look nothing like the original Elite ship of that name? The others they transferred over at least bore a reasonable resemblance to the originals, but I can't see that family resemblance here. (Of course, since the original ship was probably one of the simplest models in the game, maybe they couldn't transfer it to the new style without it sucking?).

Still playing; after doing a bit of exploring and selling the Data at Lambda Andromedae managed to buy a discounted ASP which is now sitting at Qama waiting to be outfitted. Done a couple of runs from George Panatkis station out to McCool City to boost my funds a bit as I had to sell some items off the Cobra (which I've kept) to afford the Asp. Debating whether to go exploring again or try to get my combat rating up ( but I don't seem to be very good at it  )

Got a bit careless yesterday.

I had two shield boosters fitted to the asp and started thinking I was invulnerable. (I wanted four, but the power drain shut everything down. Even on two it's tight).

After crashing into the station on a mere 2 pips to shields I discovered I wasn't.

1.5 million poorer but hopefully a bit wiser.

I doubt much could have been done with the original model to be honest. I would say the Python in ED looks far more like what I'd expected the FDL to look like but that said, it's pointy has 'features' on top and is flat bottomed, so I guess it's close enough.

Howdo Oldman, The Vulture I've no idea, it's a tad expensive and I haven't had a test drive, the FerDeLance on the other hand I did test drive and it's eye watering, speed, agility and raw fire power, everything every trader hated about the Python pre-excessive nerf with bells on.

As for price, the FDL might seem excessive but fully kitted (ex weapons and utility bits) it's actually cheaper than an equivalent Python (even if penny pinching on the python by only fitting a B power-plant) but it handles like a Viper and can take a ridiculous amount of punishment lb for lb. so for all it's price might seem excessive it's actually about right, I nearly bought one last night but I prefer doing a bit trading still, I'll see if I make the night out with my Python or if I sell up and get a FDL + T7 as replacements.

Wish I could afford an FDL.

I tried one in the Beta and the thing's a beast right enough. Got interdicted by a 'conda and the 'conda ran home to his mummy.

Being expensive also fits with the lore. It was always a rich mans toy. Now if we could just get some Bedaho leather for the seats ...

There are rumours of a "Combat ship" price reduction of some sort... so I'd wouldn't buy one just yet.

It does have leather trim, which I thought was a nice touch :)

I buckled last night, I ended up 1 Million down after stripping and selling my python and fully kitting it out (mainly due to the depreciation hit from selling the python otherwise I'd have been slightly better off).

I'm not convinced combat ships will see a scale down, more likely they'll make combat pay better imho, but strong signal points are a potential goldmine anyway for bounty hunting.
EDIT - It appears you're right,, :(

Either way the FDL is an utter beast as it should be imho. the revised repair and fuel costs are hugely welcome too. I just need to find a class 4 plasma now and I'm done.

Of course I can't afford any guns, shields etc. So it looks like I'll be running rares for a while.

On plus side I've been given a 51-ish million cr rebate so I could have kept my Python instead of losing out on the 6-ish million trade in dammit...

I don't know it the number of "rare" goods has been dropped by at Aerial and Jaroua the number of items for sale was very low - much lowing than before ( 2 apples and 1 rice!).
