I disagree with that. The solar system would be one 'system'. What you would have a lot of is 'clusters', but there's no reason ES couldn't just limit them to the main ones, ie. Earth, Mars, Moon, maybe Jupiter. The main thing would be that each cluster would likely only have 1-3 zones, instead of the half dozen that most of the current ones do. Which would justify having more clusters, e.g. some of the other more minor planets, or a high security ATF cluster.
Also, considering what they did to Canteran ships (their Destroyer and Freighter) they don't look cool anymore. To be honest the Arawn and Omicron Lyrae Destroyers looks more ATF/USC than Canteran design.
Indeed the new Omicron ships do look awesome. My suggestion for ES (FWIW) if they do create Terran ships is to just stick with the classic white with red and black hilights colour scheme that they had with X3, that kind of relates to the Space Shuttle. Perhaps with the ATF ships, they could try stealth grey, and angular, like the F117 Nighthawk? That would give them a believable, human combat force look.

I don't like those eggshell white ships.

I had an Idea for a possible expansion.

Name would be Research outpost Terra Omega

FULL STORY

A mysterious ship is causing trouble in argon sectors. As if this was not enough, the ship is invisible to all sensors and so the argonians call it the ghost ship. Photos of it are very vaque and rare because just as when you notice it you have mere moments before it gets away. You and Yisha embark on a mission to find the ghost ship. You go wherever there is trouble reported by the ghost ship until you notice a pattern. For some reason the mystery pilot of this ship searches for xenon communication protocols. In order to go by as unoticed as possible, he sabotages stations for distraction. You investigate further and mid mission a shady man contacts you after he heard you are looking into the case. He reveals nothing of his identity. Together you manage to find a secret gate that leads to a vast asteroid field. The ship is caught off guard and you can actually detect it on sensors. Not only you discover that it has a pretty sophisticated stealth system that stores heat in internal heatsinks along with a passive sensor system, the skunk's computer recognise the design. Origin, terran. Designation, X shuttle! It also turns out that there is no pilot. The ship is flying itself. It flees in the asteroid field and you follow. Though it engages its stealth systems, it is going towards a large structure that cannot be concealed. You discover the research outpost terra omega. Looking into the database of the innactive station you findout that it was build with personal funds by terracorp's founder Kyle Brennan. It was researching jump drive technology before the reunion but afterwards the research was shifted to xenon AGI and the understanding of it. They run tests and the sort. Also the X shuttle had turned into a testbed for various technologies the last of which was stealth systems. During a test went awry the AGI was released into an unkown part of the station. Fearing the worst Kyle locked down the station. It turned out the X shuttle hangar was infected with the AGI and the X shuttle had become its mainframe. For years it tried to contact the xenon, but unfortunately its communication protocols were different and it got attacked by the xenon whenever it approached them. The mission closes when the AGI turns out it can communicate with people and requests to be shut down as it will never achive integration with the xenon and be alone forever. The misterious man gives us the stealth systems and then dissapears.

ADDITIONS

Main attraction of our imaginary expansion would be the research and development stations. They will enable player and NPC factions to research more efficient ways to do stuff like mining the same amount of minerals faster, make construction of ships and stations cost less etc(there have to be tradeoffs though). Also reseach teams will be introduced with having specialised fields like weapons, food, mining etc similar to the skills of crewmembers.

It will affect weapons also. For starters each and every faction gets its own unique weapons in addition to being more specialised in one of the current ones. For example, Plutarch will be focused on beam weapons and usually will have its weapons be centered around weaponised mining equipment. Not only that, but there should be capital specific weapons aswell. Then we ditch the traditional MK weapon pattern. Now thanks to research and development each weapon can be upgrated individually through a branching tech tree. Mark will change by 1 each time a new upgrade has been researched. Also research of one upgrade will block another. Say you want to increase the damage output of the plasma cannon. The tradeoff will be rate of fire and from a point forward it will only be equipable by capital ships. AI will choose its own path of upgrades.

Last improvements, damage modeling with chunks flying from a damaged ship and not just flaming destroyed subsystems. Also wreckages might split in two or more parts depenting on the ammount of damage recieved on specific areas of the ship. Lastly customizable ship hardpoints. Say you want a dreadnought armed to shread fighter squadrons, arm it only with chainguns and light missile turrets and vice versa for capital ships.

what do you think.

Man I miss my Odin class carrier flagship :( It is shame they are wasting all those designs from X3 games. I personally think those designs wore much better than what they have right now. Also I hope some of mods add this ships back to XR :)

I have nothing against most ships in X:Rebirth; they look cool.
Xenon K being a giant BEATLE does somewhat bother me.

They have some pretty good designs in XR especially S and M class ships. I just don't like Taranis (loos like brick with weapons  ) Xenon K and I looks like they wore truing to copy Reapers form Mass Effect. And Skunky (im not going to say anything about it ) :P

Skunk looks quite well IMO.
I just wish the chair was placed a little closer to the doors.
And I had access to the upper floor.

Xenon K looks good, from certain angles. Xenon I looks wonderful :)

And Taranis? God, that is the best looking ship of whole X Rebirth.
But I used to hate it, as the landing pad was located in FRONT, and it got destroyed everytime it got into a fight, losing all the drones.
Which however seems to be fixed now in 2.50, as drone launchers share the shield amount with those giant shield generators, not with the small local generators.

Ohhhhhhhhh, thats not true, matey.
Xenons are not aliens.
Hell no. :)

They are robots, that were created by humanity.
But they made the mistake of giving free will to those robots... The ability to recreate AND advance in technology...
Which eventually brought them back to Earth and almost deleted human race from the existence...

Yes the Xenon seem to be having a bit of an identity crisis in XR. They seem to now be manifesting as insect like and displaying hive mentality. More like the Ka'ahk to be honest. For me they should be building very geometrically efficient ships and stations. A bit like the replicators from Stargate. But hey I actually do like the ships and hopefully they'll evolve as the game expands. The I class ship is a masterpiece!

It is my favorite ship now, too.

Yup, this sucks.
We should not lose all drones, just because the doors got wrecked! :x

That's not true.
Find your taranis and start shooting that little shield generator nearby.
Notice the blue light on the drone launch bay?

Okay, so the "dronebay shield buff" only affects Rahanas, and the Sul ships?
Because those have almost indestructible drone pads, because they share shields with the biiiiiiiig capship generators.

If you think about it a machine intelligence race is very likely to act like it has a hive mind or even actually operate with a hive mind. The Replicators in Star Gate and the Reapers in Mass Effect (the latter being part organic). Even the Cyclons in Battlestar Galactica have a society analogous to an insect colony.

WRT the Xenon, they may have been initially built by humans but they evolved away from that design to the point of being considered alien. Alien primarily means different not just from another planet/place.

WRT the Xenon Vessels in X-Rebirth, a curved beetle like structure could have evolved for definable and logical reasons (under certain circumstances a curved outer hull could be a desirable or even necessary trait). My only criticism of the Xenon capitals is the massive blind spot they have and the ease of getting into position with a smaller vessel (e.g. the Skunk).

love the new performance. still not sure if its fully optimised.

In any case, honestly now, how you devs felt when you had to change the menu system. As far as I know changing your vision because everyone hated it can hurt.

I just don't see any performance increase, still about 20-30 fps depending on where I am.

ADDITIONS....

what do you think.
:gruebel:.....

As the Skunk proceeds to move away Oldman extracts himself from the secretly concealed cargo space aboard the X Shuttle.
Strapping himself back into the old familiar cockpit of the shuttle, and briefly testing the twin Gamma high energy plasma throwers, he pushes the throttle levers over to maximum, noting with satisfaction the rapidly expanding fireball which is now all that remains of the Skunk. :fg:

Some time later in a part of the galaxy...far far away, he cuts the engines and drifts slowly through what appears to be a pile of floating debris.
Suddenly, a light blinks, and from out of the darkness, a space suited figure moves towards the X Shuttles cargo hatch.

"Everything went according to plan Oldman? said Kyle Brennan as he strapped himself into the co-pilots seat.

"Yes Kyle, like clockwork, I planted the device at the co-ordinates you suggested, and the timer has been set"

"Good...good!" Kyle chortled..."When that goes off it should cause a ripple effect throughout the whole Rebirth universe, which in turn should cause the whole dammed thing to collapse in on itself!"

"Would that cause us to be thrown back into the old X Universe again Kyle?"

"Should do, if my calculations are correct...by the way...how was the Skunk, and your 'co-pilot'...what was her name again...?" Kyle grinned impishly.

"*Sigh*...Yisha... and the Skunk?...you just saw the fireball!, nuff said!" scowled Oldman.

"Fair enough!"...Kyle laughed...."We'll be back in the old X Universe in the blink of an eye!....but we'll put ourselves into stasis for the time being. It might take some time".

Oldman yawned as the prep for stasis slowly took effect, "Goodnight Kyle"

"Sleep tight Oldman, I'll wake you up when we're there"...Kyle flipped the controls to auto, closed his eyes and the Shuttle disappeared into the darkness of space.

:D

Yeah. If that's happening, it's a bug!
You should go report it in beta forum.
