I've been playing Subnautica Below Zero a bit.

They're about to do exactly what you just described. The entire plot is going to be replaced at the next update. All saves wiped. :(

I played the original Subnautica up to a point where I had absolutely no idea what I was meant to do or go and I ended up just quitting it, but it was fun up till then. I have tried the new one till I got so pissed of at the mobs stealing my gear, I ended up going screw this, closed the game down and I have never been back.

If you don't hold the tool in your hand, they can't steal it.

Loved Subnautica and have played some of the Feb2020 build of Below Zero that already has a lot of progress. Tbh Subzero is fine but its not quite as good as the original. The above ground stuff is not as appealing imho and most game mechanics are the same from "base-game". Still its pretty great and I'm looking forward to play it once its released fully.

Hooked to Wolcen atm. Ok, was very bugged at launch (still some bugs) but the passive skill options are awesome. :-)

Wolcon now there's another game that is bugging (no pun intended) me, I originally backed that on Kickstarter and I never ever had an issue with it whenever I played any of the beta versions. As soon as they release the final version the game will CTD on me every so often, took me 3 attempts to finish the farm area without a CTD abd allowing me to move on and I have had several CTD's since then. Games just aren't liking me right now, even ONI is letting me down as the oil wells are releasing water which is creating steam and causing me game issues.

I have a rule that I don't do Early Access--not only does it annoy me when a game's features or controls change halfway through playing it, but I find that I often get bored with the game and stop playing before final release. I'd rather play the finished game with the finished features.
I normally don't. The number of games I have in early access can be counted on one hand and I would never early access most games for the same reason you don't.

But this game is just ... Idk, something else. When I first played the original I considered it's a broken, unfinished piece of crap, even today I still consider Warband a piece of crap of a game. Yet somehow it's the game I clocked in the most hours on Steam (close to 600h). Kenshi was a similar situation for me. Can't really explain it, but I guess I already consider and expect the game to be a broken, unfinished piece of crap, I have no problem with it being a broken piece of crap ... so early access or not doesn't really make a difference .... maybe. :gruebel:

About the new Subnautica, While I thoroughly enjoyed the original (went through the story three times), I'm on the fence about the 2nd. My gut tells me the main reason I enjoyed it because it was a fresh experience rather because it was really good, unless the 2nd game is a cut above the first, I'm not sure if I would have the same level of enjoyment. And isn't the story has been rewritten 3 times at this point?

Played it for around 100 hrs now, took 3 toons through the story and never and a CTD. Either they've fixed that or the cause is something I did not use.

I just wish I could say the same, they keep releasing patches for it and they make no difference to me. Just after the last post I made I started up the game, clicked on the play button and the game CTD on me, I didn't even get to play any of it. Then you have tonight where I just finished playing an hour and a half of the game with no problems, so the issues are sporadic to say the least. It's a shame as the game is pretty good, though I must admit I liked the earlier beta versions of the game, the weapons were more interesting than they are now.

Quick note as it seems Mount and Blade Bannerlord will be released now on the 30th of March at 10 am UTC, instead of the 31st.

I want to love it so much, but it's early access, and is almost certain to be a janky piece of crap. Definitely a game I want to play, but I probably won't but it for a year plus.

I'm playing Star Traders Frontiers at the moment. It's a hell of a lot deeper than it might appear from a brief look.

I'm playing Half-Life: Alyx. It is exactly as good as all the hype suggests.

I thought I had my Skyrim mod list completely rebuilt and then I realized there was no smelter in Riverwood. Alvor is no friend of the Stormcloaks and therefore no friend of mine. I have no idea how he got by as a blacksmith without a smelter but I did get the mod to add that. Now once the mighty dragonborn is inevitably defeated by massively overpowered bandits he can make a simple iron sword so he isn't punching wolves to death on the way back to reclaim his equipment. One of the things the efforts of modders of that game had me realize is that I prefer an interruption in the story to an exit to a game over screen. I play on the hardest difficulty to make it happen because the worst it can do is make your character chop wood to buy clothes to cover his schlong and get a basic weapon to stab things. If the game follows the hero journey model it should take into account that you might lose and give you the means to come back from a failure. The worst enemies can do in my version of Skyrim is knock down and rob the dragonborn of his gear and make him try again. Having a somewhat immersive way to continue is preferable to getting punted to a game over screen.

Chopped wood. Stole a battleaxe. Had an absolutely broken world of things bouncing around because the game was never meant to run at 200 FPS. It has to be capped at 60 or objects go flying around. Fixed that. Walked out of a shop and got demolished by hired thugs because I stole a battleaxe. Nice. Got a disease from punching wolves. Double nice.

Just started playing Bannerlord. I'm still playing around in the tutorial but the game runs fairly well. Usage is 100% for my RX 580 (GPU and memory) and about 90% for my 3930K (no OC anywhere, even the 32GB of RAM are running at 1600 -just a little freq. and V. bump- instead of the rated 2133 because I don't want to use XMP and risk damage to the mem controller, I've read a few times that those chips have IMC problems. I'm guessing modern CPUs are more resilient). Max temps are 76C for the GPU and 62C for the CPU. With the exception of the GPU, I bought everything else almost 10 years ago. Amazing, I never thought I'd still play games on this machine after all this time (the machine is still going strong). I wonder if I will be able to play Cyberpunk 2077, at least on low detail?

Probably a wise thing - it's a bit clunky UI / control wise still, which given it's 8 years of development you'd be forgiven for thinking there'd be some improvements/changes in that aspect. Someone has provided a post highlighting what's missing at present on Taleworlds Forum too and it appears a lot (though they're copping a lot of flak from some claiming it's misinformation). It's Early Access, so to be expected, but it's been 8 years of development and currently just feels like updated graphics.

Personally giving it a go - and right now trying to use tactics in a battle (command troops) is a real PITA as it is clunky and awkward. Likewise, character development is no longer intuitive but a bit confusing (and this is someone with 330 hours on M&B: Warband) as to what to do. Obviously can overcome that with a bit of time investment, but poor UI if you can't understand information quickly/easily.

Undoubtedly it'll get better - the entire point of Early Access (as well as finances). Just hoping the white knighting on taleworlds forum doesn't obfuscate valuable feedback :D

However, this doesn't mean it isn't fun. Of course it is :D Just play on easy... watching Sips yesterday he was calling it a pile of crap (there are definite balance issues) as he repeatedly got captured meaning there was little enjoyment to be had. Once difficulty was dropped from normal to easiest it became "I'm starting to enjoy this!" :)

Bannerlord had been sitting in my Steam wishlist for nearly 4 years! I bought it as soon as it became available, knowing full well that there would likely be plenty of bugs. I'm not sure when I'll get to play it though. :(

I wonder if Bannerlord should have its own thread.
