I'm a bit bored today, so here's Missile Defense Mosquito as well..

Missile Defense Mosquito
(Version 3.alpha.03 - 8. November 2008)

[ external image ]

Missile Defense Mosquito Overview
  • This software protects small and large ships against enemy missile attacks and fighter drones.
  • This software protects the leader or the whole convoy against missile attacks and fighter drones. There must be only one ship in the group running this command.
Missile Defense Mosquito Preparation

Downloads

-> Missile Defense Mosquito (Version 3.alpha.03)

Requirement: X³ Terran Conflict Version 1.2 (not compatible with X³ Reunion) !!

Activating the Script Editor

Activating the script editor is not necessary for Missile Defense Mosquito. It will mark your game as ***modified***.

With the script editor activated, technical information is provided as well as normal information. This can be confusing. It is possible to run other unsigned scripts without starting the script editor. This requires a change in the script's boot file. This will mark your game as ***modified*** as well.

Installation

Simply extract the Zip into the X3TC directory like you did with the former version. Newer files should overwrite older ones. Main script files will reside in ".\scripts"- and ".\t\"-folder, all other files are for maintenance and uninstalling only.

Deinstallation

Copy file setup.plugin.missile.def.pck from "\scripts.uninstall\" in your X3TC folder to "\scripts". Run TC and load a saved game. Uninstallation is automatically started and finished when a message is sent to the logbook. Uninstallation takes 10 to 20 seconds from when the game was loaded. Save your game.

Run "Delete all Missile Defense Mosquito Scripts.bat" found in the "\scripts.delete" folder in your TC directory. This will delete the script's files.

Important: Never just delete scripts; your savegame will look for them.

Updating to a newer version

Simply re-extract the Zip into the X3TC directory. Simply unzip into your X3TC directory. There are files in "\scripts" and "\t", as well as other folders. These other files are used for maintenance and uninstalling. You may overwrite older files.

To remove obsolete or unused files, run "Delete old Missile Defense Mosquito Scripts.bat", found in "\scripts.delete", before extracting the new zip file. This is not necessary, but will keep your script folders neater.

Ingame, nothing needs restarting. All ships and stations should run the new scripts automatically, any ships set to notify you when orders are complete will send you a message. The old script is stopped before the new script is started, and the message can be ignored.

Missile Defense Mosquito Instructions

The Task

This software protects small and large ships against enemy missile attacks and fighter drones. Missile Defense Mosquito needs Mosquito missiles, Fight Command Software MK1 and MK2.

Mosquito missiles and Fight Command Software MK1 and MK2 can be found at equipment docks of most races.

Quick Guide
  1. Equip any ship with Fight Command MK1, MK2, and mosquito missiles
  2. Start "Missile Defense Mosquito" in the Additional Ship Commands menu.
Ship Equipment
  • A ship of any class (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, TL, TS, TM or TP)
  • Fight Command Software MK1
  • Fight Command Software MK2
  • Mosquito missiles
Handling

The software is started with the command "Missile Defense Mosquito" in the Additional Ship Commands menu. The software now watches for enemy missiles and drones and fires Mosquitoes at them. Remove the command from the Additional Ship Command menu to stop it, the command also stops if there are no mosquito missiles present or they have all been used.

The command "Missile Defense Mosquito Convoy", also in the Additonal Ship Command menu, allows one ship to protect itself and it's followers. This requires the following ships be using the navigation command "follow..." or fight command "Protect..."

All settings are divided into menus on the main menu.
All settings are divided into sub-menus on the main menu.
(two times menu within 4 words looks a bit funny to me ... ??)
Demolish Asteroids
A prospector with rank Lead Miner or higher can demolish asteroids. (Asteroids are rocks that a mining station can be placed on.) First, select a preferred mineral, then use this menu item to select how many asteroids and a maximum yield. The prospector stops mining and begins to demolish the asteroids.
i don't think he can demolish asteroids, where mining stations can be placed on. ranks lower than prospector can just collect the debris, once he's prospector he can demolish ....rocks, which are hanging around in a sector, but which are to small for a mining station. i.e. herrons nebula, there are just some asteroids where mining stations can be putted (?) on, but there are a lot of rocks which cannot be collected with the rock-collector. these he will demolish...

Wow ... :o ... I knew it. Vicrry06 is a machine. :D

A Miner can blow up big asteroids. Is "blow up" a better word?

Then I change the menu point in German to "Asteroiden sprengen".

@sky669

Doch, der PSK geht auf Wunsch nun auch an die ganz großen Brocken ran. Keine Bange, er wird dir nicht deine Mine unter'm Hintern wegschiessen. :D ;)

at the moment, something around 25 or 30 miners are around in my game, i just want them to clean up the sector and not the big ones !

As I understand it, they have to be told directly to blow up mineable asteroids - they will not do so by themselves.

In X3:R if you blew up an asteroid with the Mobile Drilling System, it'd also reappear later on.. not sure if it's that way again in TC

Absolutely right.

Is "blow up" better as "demolish"?

I've edited in Sky669's suggestions for the Prospector guide - any other ideas?

Talking about asteroids - 'blow up' or 'break up' is probably better than 'demolish' - 'demolish' is specifically for taking apart buildings or stations: I just hadn't had my coffee yet this morning translating.

Automatic Target Acquisition Instructions

The Task

Automatic Target Acquisition supports the ship pilot in a fight against multiple targets simultaneously. Target Acqusition sorts a group of enemies based on priority setting or based on target strength and automatically targets one. The default setting targets the strongest in the group. Fight Command Software MK1 and MK2 are required for Automatic Target Acquisition.

Fight Command Software MK1 and MK2 are available at most race's equipment docks.

Quick Guide
  1. Equip a small ship with Fight Command Software MK1 and MK2
  2. Start "Autmoatic Target Acquisition" command in Additional Ship Commands menu.
Ship Equipment
  • A ship of any size (M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, TL, TS, TM or TP)
  • Fight Command Software MK1
  • Fight Command Software MK2
Handling

Start the software using the command "automatic target acquisition" in the Additional Ship Commands menu. Now the software will target based on priority or target strength.

M6-class ships are targeted first, followed by M3's, M4's and lastly M5's. The second mode targets in reverse order.

If Automatic Target Acquisition is executed on a M1 or M2, the software will automatically target M1's or M2's. Hostile M2's have a higher priority than M1's, and M1's have a higher priority than M7's. Closer targets are targeted before more distant ships of the same class.

To change the priority mode a hotkey must be established. This can be set in the Control menu. A second hotkey to start and stop Automatic Target Acquisition can be set.

I've got a Caiman Miner equipped with an Ore Collector, Special Command MK1, Navigation Command MK 1, and a Mineral Scanner. Is there any reason why I should not be able to start the Prospector?

Didn't know they had to be docked to start Prospector - in the guide it goes. I've edited the T-file as well, and evertyhing looks good except 'Analysis to Log' doesn't actually put anything in the logbook. The prospector hadn't actually done anything yet though, I was just flipping through the menus and looking for typos.

You must look at where the savegames will be saved. File "log01000.txt".

For German description:

Ist noch kein Pilot auf dem Schiff, so muss das Schiff an eine Station angedockt werden, damit ein Pilot das Schiff betreten kann.

English?

Is not yet a pilot on the ship, then the ship must docked at a station, so a pilot can enter the ship.

The command is available only on ships that already do have a pilot, and on ships that are docked at a station.

Oh, much better.

German: Das Kommando ist nur verfügbar, wenn ein Pilot auf dem Schiff ist oder das Schiff an einer Station angedockt ist.

Now that I've stopped being silly I've got a translated copy of the T-file for Prospector. The log entries are translated as well as the last of the menu entries. I'll send it using email Lucike?
