  1. Equip a TS class transporter with Navigation Software MK1, Trading System Extension, Trade Command Software MK1 and MK2
  2. Choose the command "Economics Trader: Ware Add/Remove" from the Additional Ship Commands menu and select a product
  3. Choose the command "Start Economics and Supply Trader..."

Lucike,

3206 looks promising. I'd like to give it another upgrade try.

Should we remove 3200 first and then install 3206 or install on top?

No problem. You must not remove the 3200 befor you install the 3206. All freighters restart automatically.

weird. i'll put fraps on my home machine and make a video of it not working tonight or tomorrow night. i'm at work for 12 hours today so it might not be doable when i get home.

*edit*
i have an x3 installation on my work laptop i have not gotten to use in ages, so i downloaded the folder i sent to you off the download link, and applied it to my install on the laptop and it works.

that's bizarre. i guess i'll try re-installing X again or copy the install of my work laptop. thanks Lucike!

I have been having some issues with my traders Idling in stations and doing nothing. even with this latest version. And in each case the pilot was a former CAG that I transfered to the ship.

I wonder if that could be related. I recently fired the offenders and I'm training them up with just the EST job now. I'll let you know if they decide to strike again.


edit: I may have found something. On my current offender I removed the "Best Selling Price Locator" and he began to function again. He has tons of other software installed such as CLS1/2, Ore collector etc. But just removing that seems to work atm.

And same here for V3206. As soon as I upgrade, all EST go standby. The manual EST dump their ware lists and the TradeMk3 just stay idle.

Restart EST on the TradeMk3 and they still stay idle.

Revert back to v3200 and no issues.

I don't think I have best buys on mine but I'll check

EDIT: Well I did have some Best Buy/Sells but not all. I removed them and I also removed some leftover "Motion analysis relay" from another script.

I made a new 3208 spk from the download and installed with Plugin manager on top of (after) V3200.

All EST reset and it looks like they are all continuing. NOTE: Many of them are still sitting for quite a while but they are still running. I think the new coordination may just be "not finding" any good deals in my current economy.

I'm now removing the TradeMK3 on all and going to try reset them in Manual. I'll update success or not.

EDIT2: All manual EST appear to be working under 3208. Thanks for the update.

well that fixed the issue for a brand new pilot that went on stand by, but now i just had it happen to one with an old pilot and he doesnt have that equipment either. I cant say I have any idea what causes it.

some seem to run fine and others well revolt!


edit: well so far it they seem to be working really well. After removing the 'best selling price locator" the ships that went on standby did so because they had no energy cells and their were pirates in the system.

I must say I'm really impressed with it!

this script is very useful, especially in conjunction with cag and cls, but i would like to make a request...

its for a version of these scripts that is HQ/TL compatible (where it isn't already) or atleast an extra option for when running off an HQ or selling off a TL

for HQ they would need an additional variable for each ware...the amount of ware to leave on station
for TL the above would be nice, but obviously it would need a sell price set
(an additional script could easily be written for the TL at that point that would let it act as a warehouse of sorts "beaming" goods off a station to its cargo to maintain quantaties, or back to the station)

i do remember that cls excepts TL as input (but if i read correctly that means the TL is assigned as a supplier not a consumer and cls only works with player owned stations/TLs)

anyways, i really like all these scripts and rather than write a script from the bottom up that has all your features i thought id ask if you could add the above to them

edit: well, i've noticed some command conflicts:

ship_32 conflicts with anarkis carrier commands
ship_33 conflicts with ship jamming device
trade_29 conflicts with Local Trader (granted if you have this script you probably dont need local trader)

edit2: in my local copy i moved ship_32 and 33 to custom_40 and 41, and trade_29 to trade_36 - these were all free in the main list

my request for this script, and the CAG and CLS script:

i want the pilots to STFU. seriously. they notify me constantly over the stupidest things. i want to be able to tell them to zip it. i dont want to know about every stupid TS pilot that got poked by a pirate harrier. i just want them to park in a station until my sector patrol takes the offender out and continue without bothering me.

the only thing i want to know about is when they die so i can replace them.

The 3208 script will set the trader to standby on manual configuration. I followed the quickstart instructions in the script guide and properly configured my trader. The script was attempted on a fresh install using older saves. I have the following system setup:

X3 2.0.0.2
Bonus Pack 3.1.07

I have the following scripts currently installed:
XTM .7 (Script Pack 0.7.3)
Factory Complex Constructor 3.21
God Mode Script 1.1
LV's Cheats 1.4
Race Response Fleets Final 1.7
Salvage Network 2.8
Sat Based Mk3 1.0.0
Unlimited Salvage Insurance 1.0.0

I plan on installing:
Auto Trader Sector Lock 1.0.3
BSE 2.1
BBSExtras 1.61

I'm going to attempt running this again (I initially tried it a week ago) and seeing if I just didn't have the proper rank. I think, though, since I actually hired a pilot (and they constantly sat in standby), that the script just didn't work for me.

If it's any consolation, I could never get my old saves to work with anything but 3200 until 3208, so I know it is doable.

I have every script you have except for

God Mode Script 1.1
Salvage Network 2.8
Sat Based Mk3 1.0.0
Auto Trader Sector Lock 1.0.3
Unlimited Salvage Insurance

As I posted above, also, my EST's do spend some time on standby if there are no deals around, and I can manually get them going by lowering my profit return and adjusting the stock, so I know they are actively working the deals.

Note I am on X3 2.0.02 and couldn't get 2.5 working yet.

I will try fiddling with it for a bit. I got it to sell the stock of energy cells on the ship but then it would just sit in standby. I will perhaps try a setting of 1% profit margin and 100% stock.

For some reason my trader seems to lose its targeted goods. I don't think this is user error, but it could be.

*EDIT* I can get it to sell goods it has, but then I have to buy goods manually. It will then go into Standby and no longer have any goods targeted.

*EDIT2* I've noticed that I can set the ware, check the configuration, and everything is OK. I then start the trader and it stays in standby. I check the configuration, and it has set the selected wares to none.


Question: Is the original script writer still active?

Okay that is exactly what it did for me before 3208 (wouldn't hold wares), anytime I tried to upgrade from 3200.

If you want to fiddle, what version were your old saves?

I had good ESTs on 3200 and then applied 3208 "on top of" 3200 w/o removing 3200 first. So "maybe" your old saves just won't kick if you are "wiping" them with only 3208 fresh.

You'll know right away if the save is going to work, because they will resert and send their "completed task" message but if they have good "deals" they will continue on their last trade in progress.

Also all my ESTs were full Freight Pilots at the time of adding 3208. Also from another post above, I made sure to remove any Best Buy/Sell software from them.

Might be worth a try.

My original saves actually didn't have the EST script on them. They were just an older version of the bonus pack. I then did a fresh install and everything when I was fiddling with XTM (and all that). I then installed 3.2.0.8 without an spk and tried it out. I did a 1000 different things with 3.2.0.4 and 3.2.0.8 to get everything working and nothing worked. I really have no idea how messed up these saves are by now.

I guess I could always try starting a fresh game and testing out the trader. I'm really just too far along with this game to always play that one though so I'll just have to live without the trader.

you could use the converter app/script to save your data start a new game and bring back all your old stuff with it...i don't know how through it is...but i do know that it should get all your stations/ships and i believe thier cargos (locations in the universe included)...dont know if it gets the pilots and thier levels though...or any other saved variable info from scripts

Well, if the last resort is starting over, I'd try putting 3200 back in by itself and see if you can get them back up. Then try for 3208.

Like I said, I could never get anything but 3200/3208 combo to work for me.

And I always packaged the raw files into a single SPK as well it that makes a diff.

You might have to do some manual cleanup to check that all of the EST scripts have been removed before you try 3200.

And if you have to start over and use the X3-X3Converter, yes it will bring the pilots over as well, you just have to restart their EST command.


And if you can't find 3200 I'll try to send it to you in a PM.

Have you installed a best selling price locator? I have forgotten to write it in the instructions. The EST buys no goods, if a best selling price locator is installed.

I'll try that when I get home this evening. I don't think I had the Best Selling/Best Buying price locators. I think 3208 will work then. Thanks for all the help guys. :)
