How do you feel that the X2 cockpits are back in?

I am not pleased that 1.3 renders flawed cockpits. I really liked them. 1.3 also has me running the game on a much higher resolution than before, as it refuses to run properly at lower resolutions. I do like the new glows, although I liked the other, brighter lighting and shininess, too.

I did notice that at one point my cockpit was glowing green. It only did this for one sector (Ministry of Finance), and after I jumped through the gate and back, the cockpit went totally dark, so I can't replicate the effect. Has anyone else seen this?

As well, can anybody please help me disable the Cockpit Callback mod so that I can go back to using the vanilla HUD? I promise that when the cockpits are back, that I will definitely re-enable them (as long as I am still playing X3, anyway). Thanks!

just hit 'original' in the mods menu.

Twelvefield when ur starting ur game, go to select a mod and press Original...it will disable the mod so u can go back to the original game

Just came back to the game when I learned that the 1.3 patch was out, devastated that it has made the cockpit mod not work. I missed them and the game is not the same with out them.

You are our last hope. Galaxy can you fix it man?

The only people who can fix this is Egosoft. Though I do have hopes that sometime in the future lighting will be restored to the cockpits, though this will most likely become a low-priority bug/problem because cockpits are a feature that the Modding community added...

“No you can’t be my father”, ah sorry wrong move, but it is like a horror move all this.

Ahhh, it’s all so unfair, I wait for X3 to come out with found memories of Elite on the C64.
It hits the shops but plays like a dog.
I get the patches thing get better; now can play game MISS the cockpits.
I know there was a great big discussion on should we have the cockpit or not and we lost.
BUT if the X2 models are still there WHY can they not give us the choice!
The mod comes out happy again, now the 1.3 patch takes it away.

It’s like killing the monster turning your back and it jumps on you again.

Come on can we get a petition going or something, we just want cockpits that are already there.

I've got the missing ships mod with cockpits. The cockpits work but the metal structure of it is dark with none of the beautiful bump-mapping that it had prior to the patch.
I'm ALL FOR the cockpits. I really can't play without them. I can't remove the mod now anyway because my savegames crash without the mod active.

i deactivated it no problem.

You could easily turn this around and say "If the Experimental Shuttle is in X2 WHY did they make it not playable?".

The objects are already in motion to get cockpits re-lighted. So I think it's just time for us to wait... but it will be funny how Egosoft will list it in a patch, they can't really say "Cockpits are lighted once more." because everyone will be saying "There are no cockpits! What are you talking about?" or "Cockpits? Where? GIMMIE COCKPITS!!!"

So yes I think we just have to wait. Ah, but you are fed up of waiting? Well it is better then me being certien that it will never be fixed. We have at least on our side a German Moderator that also very much wants this fixed.

The near-future of the cockpit my be dark, but the future looks bright again.

Hey don’t get me wrong I love the game, Egosoft is a great developer who does listen and I thank you for your hard work and great mod.

No, the only word is from the files they added in 1.3... now each file has it's own cockpit scene already rigged up to the correct ships. But having the cockpit unlighted quite confuses me because it effectively takes out the cockpit, but they added cockpit scenes to the ships.

And ALL the cockpit scenes consist of the X2 M3 cockpit scene with everything but the camera commented out.

If Ego "fixes" the cockpit lighting, my guess is the line in the patch will say something like:

-FIXED: Specular highlights adjusted

I'm no expert here, but my gut tells me that the reason the cockpits went dark is because the overall light-mapping parameters in the game were changed. The cockpit was just an unexpected causualty. Specularity - the lightmap that makes things look shiny in a computer render, is very simple to adjust (say in SoftImage - I'm not saying it's simple to adjust in programming the game), yet adjusting it can create a wide variety of visual results. Sometimes you have to adjust the specularity incrementally, as even a nudge too much one way or another can destroy your artwork.

Can you update the Cockpit + Minimal Hud Mod?
I know cockpits are borked, but I still like them, and the minimal hud mod is at 1.3 now :)

Hi , i like having the cockpits very much and i am even getting use to them being black. Infact i think it adds more to the atmosphere being black although a little dynamic/ambient light from the surrounding world would be great, going back to fully lit would kill it (they were fully lit? cant really remember now :) ).

I realise this is down to egosoft to fix but read in a recent thread about a couple of people getting some sort of lighting back ( although still borked) by changing shader options to medium, but you also mention in that thread that by using the 1.2 cockpit mod we are missing some updates that egosoft added to the tship files.

Anyway getting to the point of this post, was to ask ( much like the post above) that if it wasnt to much hassle/waste of your time, could you please give us a 1.3 version of this mod so we are not missing these updates.

I am currently using a mixture of mods ( combined by using X3ModManager) KhaakPitsEdition( missing models + cockpits) + minimal Hud and appreciate all the effort people like yourself put in to making things better for all of us.

I would love to have a v1.3 cockpit mod as well.

Ambient lighted cockpits are better than no cockpits.

For some people, myself includeded, ambient lighted cockpits are achives by turning shaders down to medium or low in the graphics config. This also has the effect of turning off the "glow", but I like the semi functional cockpit better than the glow. The update I was asking for is the minimal hud update to be rolled into the cockpit callback mod. Since no response from Galaxy613, I downloaded the modmanager, and made my own update.

Sorry, but if only a few people can get cockpits to be lighted, and even then only limitedly, then I will not update this mod. Until cockpits get fully lighted or a poll that demands me to I will not update this mod or any combo mods with this. The X3 ModManager is a great program...
