Console graphics experience for work on PS3 / Xbox360
The company egosoft programmers with experience in creating game content for consoles xbox and ps.

The probable reason for the delay in the release of the game that egosoft plans to release the game not only on PCs but also on the next generation console, the release of which is scheduled for the end of the year.
If my assumptions are correct then the release of the game - the last quarter of 2013 or the first quarter of 2014, at the same time on all platforms (PC, MAC, LINUX, XBOX720, SONY PS4).

You mean fanboy?

We can call it by its long name if you prefer but its the same... and it hasn't been directed at anyone personally so I don't think it classes at childish name calling but its your forums. :)

Source Wikipiedia :
A fanboy is a person who is highly devoted and biased in opinion towards a single subject or hobby within a given field. An example is the market for CPUs for PCs, where AMD and Intel together hold a market share of 99.6% (as of Q1 2009).[6] In this market, users of home computers realistically only have a choice between two brands, and hence, a fight over which is better easily ensues. In this field, an "Intel fanboy" prefers CPUs made by Intel, and might aggressively defend their supposed superiority compared to the other brand(s), be skeptical or in denial about negative reviews of the product, and exert a high level of brand loyalty. The same brand war ensues when comparing video card brands Nvidia and ATI, which together dominate the video card market.
@ aleksadrx3 Interesting theory but I haven't read anything that would suggest that do you have a source or just a theory? Would be interested in what platforms they plan on releasing to other than PC.

I'm not sure how you figure that, since the line you quoted clearly mentioned the Xbox 360 and the PS3, not the 720 or PS4.

Also, the reason for the delay was mentioned, IIRC, somewhere in the dim distant past, and it had nothing to do with porting to consoles.

I would assume CBJ is referring to whatever Cowski originally said in the post that he edited four minutes after CBJ's post...no idea what that was, though.

Won't dodge what I said. Yeah...I did edit it. But yeah...I was referencing "mindless fanboy" again. I guess that's name calling. So I edited it.

And it was directed at eladan' comment about

I basically said that THAT was the kind of comments I was expecting from mindless fanboys.

As I said...in an earlier post. Swift justice.

In that case this forums is pretty sensitive lol, Oh well if the moderators don't want us to use the word fanboy then I guess we will have to drop it... but it seems pretty weak.

I really don't know, what you mean here. Both, TC and AP, got several updates, which not only fixed bugs, but also added new content (such as new plots, ships and stations). For X3AP a new update was just announced shortly before christmas.

The respective entry is listed in the Jobs section since X3: Reunion at least. So I really wouldn't extrapolate from that entry only to the fact that X Rebirth will be released on consoles. Especially as Bernd denied that assumption in one of the first interviews already.
What's happened to the User Interface? Some are concerned it may be dumbed down and [the game] may even appear on console. - No, no console. The game will become less complicated, but no less complex.

They are doing UI port for gamepads, that's why they need console programmers, IMO. Considering sudden Linux development I think they may also target at SteamBox and, maybe, other next-gen consoles. But I'm pretty sure, that PC-Windows platform is top-priority and it won't be simultaneous release on all platforms. Probably other ports will catch-up on later date (it would be, as it seems, Linux and Mac OS X ports for sure, maybe console ports too - otherwise why the hell they need gamepad support?).

So, well, IMO, even if there is some console porting it's done in background and will hardly delay the release.

Most probably delay is due to quality work - we all know, that previous egosoft games were below average in terms of release version quality. And it's also known that it required around a year to fix this situation for every game. Most probably that EgoSoft want to fix this reputation with series hard-reset. New game - new quality bar. So, well - it should have been released in October 2012? It will be in ~October 2013.

Please, no consoles.

Simplifying killed many good games, example Battlefield, Call of Duty, Medal of Honour, Elder Scrolls...

I highly doubt that Egosoft is going to do that game-breaking mistake. If they do, Rebirth wil be the only X game that I will not buy, whatever the release date is.

The quickest way to break a game like Rebirth is to go multiplatform. I don't think nobody in the staff is stupid enough to want that.

Thanks to you I've got another thing to worry about Rebirth.

Am I the only one who finds it more exciting than depressing waiting for it to be properly announced? The extra wait just means it will be even better (hopefully)! And whenever I log on and lurk the forums it's still exciting to try to find news. Maybe they will be there some day. :p

Well, I don't find waiting depressing, since I have confidence in ES. The wait can be unnerving, the lack of info can be frustrating, the date report can be worrying, but I can't be depressed about a game than I know can be so ****** good.

All will be forgotten after the 10 first gaming minutes on Rebirth.

And if by an unlucky string of events Rebirth is not a game worthy of the previous X and a good game overall, ES is going to have a justified hard time, and that's all. I don't like how people who stare too long in their own nerd world are overly dramatizing things.

Waiting is annoying, sure, but I also think people are a bit overboard when they want everything, anytime, anywhere. I mean, shaking fists to something that nobody can change, ... Talk about childish.

I also hope so. And if so, then I totally agree. :) There is no reason for concern.

And this post kinda made the idea of editing it useless...

Not sure why you called me that anyway - my suggestion was a perfectly sound response to what you were asking for! :P

This says it right here. Perfect word..."ignored"

The fact that we feel ignored describes it perfectly. Thank you, comores!!

I still remain somewhat optimistic. Highly frustrated and ignored, but somewhat optimistic.

And to see think that porting the game over to the consoles is putting the PC edition way behind schedule is probably the worst idea I could think of. But that is yet another story.

I'm fine with being ignored.

It means Egosoft isn't wasting any effort pandering to their fans, and all of that focus can go into making the actual game that much better. You can get as angry as you want at their silence thus far, but look at it like this:

If the game comes out great then you're still going to be a fan, regardless of their information policy pre-release. But if the game comes out badly, it won't matter how much they told you about their development process. You aren't going to be a fan anymore.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.
