Rebirth release date

Now, now... We have an <R> rating for games, now. Which will probably be used for everything more adult than a Bugs Bunny cartoon, knowing our censorship dimwits.

Personally, it bothers me when delivery date starts to slip too much. This is now bordering on "Too Much".

I've got faith it will be released within the next three months. Sometime during Q2. If however it's not then I think even I'll be here making a Vapourware thread and asking is the game so fundamentally broken?

Fingers crossed Q2 release or my long ass ranting Vapourware thread will emerge!

Yes, yes, I know...why start 3 dozen threads with the same topic?? It's probably because we are not even thrown a bone to gnaw on. And faithful fans of the lore & game are treated like we are not important to the cause. We WANT to throw them our money! We will gladly do so! But for gosh sake...is the product that far behind schedule that they can't even give us SOME piece of information? Something to keep us going?
I'm a database admin for a fortune 500 company. Granted..we produce financial software. Nothing graphic or as intense as this. But I can't see how a sliver of information, how a glimmer of hope, is too much to ask for for fans, and purchasers of their software.

I know the moderator hands are tied as well. Or I'd like to think they are and they are as much in the blind as we are. They are the unfortunate souls that must roam the forums, like ghosts, and deal out harsh moderator lock downs and swift justice.


Yes, I know, I know. I'm back already. I roam here on occasions just to look around. And sometimes I just can't keep my hands "quiet".

If this is out before Christmas, I'll be totally surprised. And if they say 2014...that won't surprise me either.

I don't think it's so much being behind schedule... To me, the way the goalpost keeps moving+ feels like Feature Creep. If so, I'd like to voice my opinion that I'd rather have a game now than wait indefinitely for one that does everything new hardware allows.

+Note that 'the goalposts' might be entirely our own expectation, mostly due to making the product announcement, but nothing further. An announcement without qualification makes people feel the release is imminent.

Oh come on we are nearly in March so thats what 17% closer to the end of the year progressing like a Windows 3.1 install to the release of X Rebirth. Just occupy yourselves with something else for a while and think of the new Haswell PC and gen 7 GPU you can have waiting in the summer.

The only people who could say anything about when the game is due are level 6 forum people or Egosoft employees, and all of them are tied up by NDAs. Most moderators, incidentally, are neither level 6 nor employed by Egosoft, and so are as in the dark as everyone else.

Well, it has been more than a year since it was originally due for release, so I think it qualifies as "behind schedule"... I don't think it's quite far enough behind schedule to compare to DNF though!

At this point I doubt XR will ever come out at all. At this rate by the time it's released it'll be outdated. The Rebirth trailer is what? 2 years old now?

Now quite honestly THAT is what I was expecting to hear first. The mindless fanboys raging on me that it'll be done when it's done. And let's be honest...these forums are crawling with them. They come to these forums, as most of us do, looking for the tiniest bit of hope only to be let down (again) so they start up the most oblivious polls, forum messages just to keep their hopes alive and to keep things going.

You know why?

Because they, like we all are, are fans of the game. And they do keep hope going. But, me, like others...hope is dwindling.

I'm not calling anyone out, I'm not asking for multiple screenshots. HELL...I'm not even asking for screenshots!! I'm asking for NEWS!! UPDATES!!! INFORMATION!! And I know I don't speak alone. I'm just one of many that are really voicing my opinion.

I'm not sure if the ghostly moderators will lock this thread down too...or lock me down for being a rabble rowser<sp> or tell us to disperse. But EGOSOFT...why can't you give us, AT LEAST, monthly updates??? We're not asking for <dare I say it...> a release date....we're asking for NEWS on the progression. News on gameplay...information on the game and how it's progressing.

I seriously don't think that is a lot to ask. I really, really don't.
