I usually just scroll the front page (maybe second page depending on how much information has come out that day) of Polygon and Kotaku, if I couldn't watch the conferences myself. No need to click any stories just browse the headlines, look at the pictures, maybe read the first paragraph description and you get the gist of what was announced and if you care to know more.

I can understand that since it was hype and hoopla and a raging blow to hopes for a Single Player game. Don't try logging into Bethesda.net for a few days either. It's 404. (Wonder why  )

Edit: REALLY HUGELY 404 AS IN MAKING NEWS 404:

Bethesda.net works for me, though don't know about any Beta "sign up". The site just says you get access if you pre-order, cant find any sign up application.

Finally got to my login via the forum pages and they are saying that part is still down - never was there - Howard misspoke and Blades needs release date set - usual forum nonsense meaning the site god's are not saying jack.

All I want is for Starfield and TES 6 to not make the same mistake of Fallout 4 and Skyrim which both had great worlds filled with laughable characters and horriably boring quests. The best quests and characters in both of those came via Mods. Honestly the first Quest I stumbled into in the Beyond Skyrim Bruma mod was more detailed, complex and interesting than anything found in unmodded Skyrim. It allowed for actual different choices and paths you could take.

That one wasn't one of my mods, but I get you!
I just logged off Bethesda.net...
Not very happy campers there, it's like the
forums are all ranting.

However Summerset FOR ES online has been posted
in the store. And (@$!#&€!!!) the link to
preorder Blades (look in news thread) is up for the apple and google play stores and the message popped up "This game not compatible with this device" and I have last year's top of the line LG mobile.
So that's another rant going down on their threads eg: What the HELL are we going to have to buy into to play the damn game?

Bethesda LIED to the community saying they were dedicated to
"The single player" and even put out this video to "quiet our fears" about them going over to MP and MMO:

https://youtu.be/DPl-YMq2WTM

The forum's are all four letter words about how they promised Fallout 76 would have an SP and how Todd Howard should take his SOLO player, fold it into VERY sharp corners and...

Here's a good review of Bethesda's problems:

https://youtu.be/6OO84qJLfzg

Which has me asking with a smug look; Okay Todd what if you set up all those dedicated severs and NOBODY logs in?

So, a couple or three years ago, or thereabouts, I had an issue with my car that arose from improper handling by the dealership that had "fixed" it. (They didn't fix all of it...)

In the back-and-forth trying to get the issue resolved, the manager told me, "We're not going to charge you for any of this and we're sorry it happened. To show you our appreciation, we'll be giving you a new set of tires." (They had to give me at least two new ones, so this was really just completing the set, but it was much appreciated as the tires aren't cheap.)

I was happy with their response and their peace offering, so spoke nicely about them whenever the subject came up.

Until yesterday...

I had to have some maintenance done and get a State Inspection sticker thingie, which I'm not used to, but whatever. And, during that process, the mechanic noted that my tires needed replacing.

I spoke up, pointing out that I had done very little traveling last year and really hadn't put much mileage at all on them, so they should have been just fine.

"Whelp, that all may be true, I guess, but I'm a tellin' ya them there tires was probably on that there car when it came out of the showroom."

"No," say's I, "The dealership replaced those tires within just a couple of years ago. They have very little mileage and wear on them. The dealership gave me new tires to compensate me for some issues they had caused."

"Well," he says, "I don't know about that, but them there tires is a pair of 2012 and a pair of 2010 dated tires, not no "new" tires at all."

"Uh..."

"Yeah, they didn't give ya new tires. They done gave you "new to you" tires."

:/

The dealership closed down last year, so there's nobody for me to go bitch at...

Morkonan, pardon me, but if you yourself have no idea whether your tires are actually worn out or not (2010, 2012, doesn't matter), then it's not the dealership you need to be bitching at. If you can't tell yourself, I can imagine dealership taking you for a ride, and then that mechanic trying to take you for another one. But the whole thing just looks like an argument between blind and deaf. Just my two cents.

Guess you missed the part where the dealer gave him some FREE age old out of warranty "new" tires they had in stock. Now I've myself ran afoul of South Carolina's state inspections when I was assigned there in the service. They INEVITABLY find something to ding you for, made up or not. That's their primary function; to keep mechanics in business. Now those tires might have had tread enough not to hide Lincoln's hair on a penny, but to the inspectors who have the database to check manufacture dates.... DING... downchecked!

The Joke was: There's NEW and there's Like new, never used, OLD tires. Or: TANSTAAFL! (There Aint No Such Thing As A Free Lunch)

Tyres should have at least the year of manufacture stamped on the outward-facing tyrewall, sometimes they have both the week and year shown. How long they will last in storage depends on the storage conditions, but they don't much like UV exposure or contact with lubricants. Really long storage tyres tend to fail by hardening and beginning to crack, especially around the valve seat.

I think one of the best pair of 'previously-owned' tyres I was offered at a garage in the USA to replace then-unnecessary studded ice tyres was a pair that had been previously sat turned inside-out on the garage forecourt and used as big plant holders. They would have had to wash all the soil from them before fitting - I declined them. :D

Hank001, pretty sure I haven't missed it. No matter how you look at it, the only one to blame for that situation is Morkonan himself. I mean, that shop might've been run by pricks, sure, but, well, you ride it - you carry it, yadda yadda.

Condolences on the coffeemaker. Then again, maybe it's a sign to go the traditional way. You know, grind it, put it into a pot, etc?.. ;)

I have all the respect in the world for people with the energy to become experts in everything they may come into contact with, but it's not for me and I don't think it's at all reasonable to expect that of everyone. I have expended significant effort in becoming an expert in a fairly narrow field of Computer Related Things, and the result of that is that I haven't the time, inclination, nor energy to become an expert in the many other complex things I encounter in my daily life, from my car to my plumbing, and therefore I choose to use the proceeds of my limited expertise to employ experts in their own respective fields to fix my things for me.

I wish it were not an unreasonable expectation that when I make such a transaction, the person I'm employing should in fact provide the service as specified and not cut corners because they think I won't notice, in much the same way that when employed to perform dark feats of Computer Related Stuff I perform the damn feats as specified. I don't know what it is about car repair in particular that we have almost a cultural expectation that this is going to happen to you if you're not a Car Person - nobody seems to worry that, for example, the restaurant is going to serve them a cheaper steak than they ordered because they don't seem like a foodie and probably won't notice, and yet a cheap steak is about 99% less likely to kill you than a poorly maintained car.
A still more glorious dawn awaits, not a sunrise, but a galaxy rise, a morning filled with 400 billion suns - the rising of the Milky Way

Apples and oranges, red assassin. See, if Morkonan was ranting about how he noticed worn tires "gifted" by the shop, I'd agree with you 100%. He wasn't.

A car is a hazard. As a driver, it is your sole responsibility to reduce that hazard to a minimum. That, or a variant of that, I am sure is core in drivers' license exams in any country. You shouldn't drive with worn out tires, you might get people killed, as you yourself point out.
No, you don't have to become an expert in all things locomotive, but before driving you must make sure that you can do so safely, which includes knowing if your tires are going to hold or not.

This is what frustrates me, when people start casting blame all around, trying to shrug off their own responsibility. "They" did it, it's always "they". Where were your eyes, or brain, or common sense? Why is it so hard to admit to yourself your own screwup, but so easy to go find a scape goat?
Even if it's all about tickets and silly laws prohibiting tires of a certain age irrespective of wear, again, why does it take "a couple" of years to find out they're non-compliant... second hand??? The date is just there, as Alan Phipps mentioned.
