Ok, I just wanted to buy Star Sonata after this post...Jey123456 wrote:lol, no. I'm actually the lead programmer for a small space mmo called Star Sonata.
I just enjoy fixing XRebirth when i have a few hours free.
=> was at first shocked: "Play Free"
But there seems to be a premium member thingy => that will have to do

PS:
I am a software developer.
"What did you do at work today?"
- "Project management and fixed 2 bugs"
"What will you do in your free time?"
- "Well, there is this totally bugged game, which also suffers from bad design decisions and I want to get rid of the most annoying things so I will try to fix some bugs now..."

I mentioned earlier that I was finding stations that had ZERO selling points and that energy seems to be at the core of why the economy crashes.
I have since found multiple (every one i have found) energy stations with energy selling points but with ZERO product for sale. This is why i kept running into the fact that in my sales screen there were no items for sale... i thought it was because there were no sale nodes, but its actually because the sale nodes have nothing for sale.
EDIT:
I can confirm that the station has Energy Cells in stock, each production section has between 20-30k in stock. and IS producing 9-10k every 10 minutes or so.

Firstly just saying great work Jey, hats off to you for your effort and work on this project. Second egosoft should be congradulated on getting the game at least in a semi playable form. Please understand it takes a lot of work getting a new graphics engine from scratch to be at least good enough and working, {have you coded shaders? it's not easy} the ui interface then and the assets the character animation properly rigged and tested with the right textures and have that worked out to a degree{the teladi eye rotation bug is a known problem and a easy fix, animation rigging flipped -180 on eyes}, plot work story development, then game play itself, and balancing of the cpu and optimising, adding a scripting system and commands.. emmmm i think for a small team 7 years is not bad that really. Some high goal games never even get finished. Lastly encoragement works as fuel for the people who work to get the job done. I should mention, were still here with them even in the rough times, they know we're dedicated fans and some of us modders are quite good at helping out, im sure they saw fit to get it to our hands at least, they know we would start pulling it appart.
When x2 started out, it was pretty buggy till they got the advancement to x3ap a well oiled machine. it takes time so be patient. cheers.

Ok, I fixed the problem... a work around of sorts.Exsilium wrote:I mentioned earlier that I was finding stations that had ZERO selling points and that energy seems to be at the core of why the economy crashes.

I put 320k energy sells in each of the energy storage areas for the station. As soon as I did that i witnessed energy transports from all over the sector run to that location. I piggy backed and right away, the sell node I saw as OFF before was working correctly.
Though within 60 seconds of watching all the supplies, some 1.5 million energy cells was depleted. Save file shows a HUGE backlog of orders and the zone is crowded with energy traders now.
Further observation shows energy traders docking to trade then undocking 5 seconds later having transferred no wares.

im using libraries/wares.xml to play around with the production to try to achieve something closer to a balance (actually, i would rather achieve an oversupply, as this is a lot easier to deal with and less game breaking xD (can just eat supplies slowly around the place))
In my current game, i produce 10times more energy than vanilla, altho im still having issues with the production, (i also increased quite a lot of the lower tier commodities). I am not even sure if the file is loaded properly, since when i write a typo on purpose in it, i get no errors what so ever.

if you bought it via steam, its in the the properties in library. If you have it without steam, then you need to modify the windows shortcut (one of many ways). to add the launch parameter to the commandline.
If you do not understand how to do this, do not use this work in progress and wait for the proper mod or egosoft fix.

Hi,
small question:
did you actually see this: http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php? ... 35#4262387, or is it just of no use for you?
(Just asking as it seems mostly like a possible bug if those files don't match)

xml patching woes? It takes a while to get the hang of it. But for a few basic guidelines:
- Match the directories in your extensions folder. Herp derp.Start by changing the whole file like so:
Then as you get the hang of it, change all the specifics using as many [@]'s as it takes to center on your target bit:
It's stupidly easy to mix something up and have it not patch at all.
- Match the directories in your extensions folder. Herp derp.
Code: Select all
<wares>
<defaults id="default" name="default" transport="container" size="medium" volume="1">
etc...
</wares>
Code: Select all
<diff>
<replace sel="/wares">
<wares>
etc.etc.etc...
</wares>
</replace>
</diff>
Code: Select all
<diff><replace sel="/wares/defaults[@id='default']/price[@min='1']">
<price min="20000" average="50000" max="9999999" />
</replace></diff>
