After some more testing I can say there still sometimes is stuttering in the aforementioned situations (new ships jumping into view, rotating ship), but it seems less likely and does no longer freeze the game completely for 1-2 seconds but seems to reduce fps to 2-5 for 1-2 seconds. I can not remember this problem from Reunion, but I will test this evening if it is perhaps caused by the 319 nvidia driver (used 313 when playing Reunion).
Apart from that TC seems much more stable than Reunion. According to Steam I now have 34 hours played for TC and I did not have a single crash. With Reunion I had occasional non-reproducible (except for the one with the memory leak) crashes every few hours.
What I noticed is that not all buttons of my Logitech MX518 mouse are properly recognized by the game. The back thumb button is properly shown as "Mouse Button #8", forward thumb button is not recognized but should be Button 9 (according to xev), same for the small center button which should be Button 10. I don't know why they are numbered this way (Buttons 4-7 are not present), but the maximum number of 8 mouse buttons which the game seems to allow is not enough for my MX518.

Have you checked that the buttons are recognised using jstest (sorry if you've posted this earlier) ?Lysius wrote: What I noticed is that not all buttons of my Logitech MX518 mouse are properly recognized by the game. Probably a bug, can you make a savegame, (preferably in flight and in a black Teladi Phoenix, or looking straight at one), and see if it's also black on windows or a different colour (I'm betting it's different;). Of course send me the savegame.marrok wrote:AFAIK the problem with the achievements was a Steam error, not a game bug and it was fixed by Steam shortly before build 8 came out. Since you can use SETA to decrease your ranks, only the campaign achievements should really be lost in your game if you have already played through the campaigns.
Another question: When playing TC on Windows, I never noticed a black Phoenix. Now on Linux every Teladi Phoenix in my game is painted black. Is this a bug or just a funny oddity?
@everyone
Got a few more things to take care of and I'll be looking at the recent issues and older ones I missed/skipped.
Q: Did anyone have an issue where the game would hang on loading until you press a key/button? It happens every once in a while to me but no one seems to be reporting it;p

I don't think jstest can be used to test a mouse. But the button press events are processed by xorg, as can be seen by xev.adrianx wrote:Have you checked that the buttons are recognised using jstest (sorry if you've posted this earlier) ?Lysius wrote: What I noticed is that not all buttons of my Logitech MX518 mouse are properly recognized by the game. I'm sorry, so focused on joystick at the moment that I saw buttons but didn't see mouse (which given what mouse is slang for in Norwegian makes it rather Freudian).Lysius wrote: I don't think jstest can be used to test a mouse. No problems at my end with loading. Everything loads correctly.timon37 wrote:Probably a bug, can you make a savegame, (preferably in flight and in a black Teladi Phoenix, or looking straight at one), and see if it's also black on windows or a different colour (I'm betting it's different;). I would suggest to wait at least another month until the release of AP for Linux, even if you finish earlier. Otherwise everybody will likely be playing AP, which means TC will get less testing.timon37 wrote:Yeah it actually shouldn't;p And and won't work yet, so consider it a preload of sorts.scratch42069 wrote:I just noticed that Albion Prelude was available in my game library. I found that out when I went to start it. I don't mind a preload. Saves on the amount I have to download later. I know I'll still be testing TC when AP is out. Before the Steam Linux ports I often jumped back and forth between the 2 games on Windows.timon37 wrote:Yeah it actually shouldn't;p And and won't work yet, so consider it a preload of sorts.scratch42069 wrote:I just noticed that Albion Prelude was available in my game library. I've found that SETA is killing instantly on mapping the throttle with an X52. I did a little bit of digging using the evtest command on my stick and found that the rotaries and throttle are jittery, and having very slight input value changes. Is there any possibility implementing a function that allows for a minimum input amount to override SETA?

Probably didn't get properly updated (there's only one linux logo to setup) so you might have to update it by hand:( Sorry about that, at least for AP it should be correct. Btw AP should work now:)scratch42069 wrote:Edit: The desktop icon works but the other one in Activities in Gnome Shell is still unchanged.

Ok I'll go ahead and manually fix that with alacarte. Thanks for the heads up on AP. I just ran it to make sure I could run it full screen with max settings and to verify Windows saves work. All is well there. I am very surprised at how good Build 0 is. It runs just as good as Build 9 of TC.timon37 wrote:Probably didn't get properly updated (there's only one linux logo to setup) so you might have to update it by hand:( Sorry about that, at least for AP it should be correct. I got a bug to report with AP. Missing voices. The UI sounds work but there is no music or ship and pilot voices. For example you comm a ship and you will not hear the pilot's voice.
Here is a link to the save game. It's a save made with the Windows version.

Edit: Verified that it affects new games made with the Linux version and loaded Windows saves.
Edit 2: I resolved the issue. Apparently the sounds got removed or something so I ran "verify game cache" in Steam and it downloaded the missing TC sound files. Everything works just fine now so I apologize for the false report.

Well, I just did a fresh install of AP and have the same issue, not all voices are missing, but most.scratch42069 wrote:I got a bug to report with AP. Missing voices. I chose the first argon start and the voice for the main quest actors is working, but station announcements, and most voices of other AI ships when i killed them etc.. didnt work.
I also went ahead a verified cache which found 229 files or similar which failed to verify and needed to download, curiously instead of reacquiring those and show a percentage in AP (steam) the profress shows in x3:TC installation, it's downloading 542MB's.
I know they are related and that AP install in a X3:TC directory, etc.. but still, it seems like a possible error in the AP fresh install rather than anything else.

That is exactly what happened with me. I'm positive it was related to installing AP because I had played TC the night before with all working sounds. I didn't test TC when I discovered this but I did test after verifying the game cache and it as well as AP were fine.ezra-r wrote:Well, I just did a fresh install of AP and have the same issue, not all voices are missing, but most.scratch42069 wrote:I got a bug to report with AP. Got another bug report for AP. When scrolling through the list of wares at a station a frame per second counter appears randomly throughout the list.
Here is a screenshot of it.

I have always had the jittery throttle problem with X52 Pro on Windows and X (well, Reunion and TC, can't remember X2), and have done a jstest dump on the Reunion thread which shows the throttle values hopping around. Did/do you play X on Windows and does the same problem occur there ? I wonder whether it would be possible to ignore tiny changes to the throttle to handle this.th3flyboy wrote:I've found that SETA is killing instantly on mapping the throttle with an X52. I don't have any problem with the rotaries disabling SETA in Reunion, haven't tested TC in a while though.
