Hi,

Well, as it's fairly easy to have multiple TC installs on one PC (at least with my version that originally came on a DVD) then I'd assume I might be able to just pick one of those as my base for this addition.

With a native Steam install I don't know how easy this is. Can any pure TC steam owners comment if they are able to copy the TC install folder and run a completely separate instance of TC from it as I can?

Cheers,

Scoob.

AFAIK no. There are two diferent versions. Steam and non-Steam.
Overwrite your copy with non-Steam version patch and play from as you wish.

A retail boxed version of Skyrim requires Steam. Where exactly - in the press release - did you read that X3 Albion Prelude retail boxed version does not need Steam ?

I like a simple Yes or No: will this boxed retail version work without Steam ?

I like Egosofts way of buying time to finish XR into a flawless game ;) (big grin)

I'm really glad I got the X Superbox when it was on sale for cheap back a while ago. I never really figure out X1-2 and X3:R only had like 40hrs of gameplay before the plot bugged out on me. My buyers remorse is now completely cured. :D

Also why did you just come out with something that will fuel my cured addiction this close to the holiday season. I have to leave the house (or at least get on the internet) to buy things. Now I'll never get it done.

No ,this should not be in Russian just because you agreed with him :P

Let's ask to have 100 translations and dialects just because we can .
What if I want it in my native language?

The question is can you copy your X3TC folder from within SteamApps/Common to another folder and have it run ok? If you can, i.e. no Steam DRM, then you have plenty of options to run mulitple installs - if you manage your saved games properly.

I can't think of better news than arriving home from an awful day at work, and see the surprise announcement of a new stand-alone expansion/game in the X series. :D

And just as I was thinking "day one purchase!", I find out that, as an owner of the X Superbox on Steam, I'll be getting it for free ?! :o

It's for things like these that Egosoft has earned my undivided support. Class act, guys.
I would have gladly purchased it anyway.

I knew there was a reason why I purchased the games again on Steam...

If there's a Steam requirement for the "Boxed" version, I won't be buying it.

Gezz, I was wondering what this "Albion Prelude" thing was about when I saw the S&M forum name.

Figured someone hacked the forums.

Anyway, looks really cool, love the whole "war" thing. Looking forward to it. And I don't even have to wait 3 years! It's coming out next-freaking-week!

That's because Skyrim uses Steamworks as it's DRM. TC does not.

Too bad the boxed version is as late as early 2012, but I will wait patiently until the box arrives. Hope it will be not that late.

Yes I know I can turn my DVD X3TC version into a "steam" version and purchase the downloadable version, but I rather do not. That's just a personal choice..

But this is exiting news indeed. Thanks Egosoft!
