Hey MarCon, I just had a quick try of the last version. All is working great. Just one remark: could be good to have the "minimal owned shares view" trigger in the option menu.

This will be compatable with everything i can make it compatable with.
As for Egosoft patches, it will need 2.5 or above.
There is also quite some effort being put into making it as compatable with other scripts and mods as possable.

I'm working on the Reporting menu now so i can get it to the testers for attempted breaking, then if all goes well there should be a release of 'Stage 1' soon.

Then you'll be able to give your UT's/ST's a holiday for a while if you want. However, UT's and ST's will help keep the 'Stock Exchange' prices moving, as they will still help the economy in your universe.

Sorry to tell you but atm this script is still in development with the testers, hence no general Download button, sorry. :oops:

BUT

If the testers don't break anything, it will become available for general Download about this time TOMORROW!! :D

I'm in the process of redoing all the screenshots for the OP and some more details to explain things and will be updating the OP shortly.

Sorry for any confusion.

I'm very proud to have had input on this fine product.

I think Egosoft should consider buying it from you and include it in all future versions of X3 :-)

I have spent some more time trying the last version. Everything is working perfectly, especially the two last adds which I find very useful. A few thoughts/questions:

- About the natural wares, you said you created a code of you own to make the index movements random. I guess each and every natural ware is equally randomised, correct? No use of studying their movements and trying to find tendencies?

- Last time I bought shares of a regular ware I lost 25M :D It was shields, as I was planning to buy some and wanted to make a benefice with the selling of the shares. The only problem is that when I bought the shields finally, the shares I had on them disappeared. There was something special about those shield shares tho, they had like 4 in stock and 0 in needed stock. Maybe a little bug here? Or maybe the main stock exchange was blown up by hostile forces right at the same time?

- A question about the mechanism: How do you calculate the needed stock? If it is an intermediary product I think it's quite plain, but what about other products like shields, weapons?

- Some of Cycrow's wares like the Advanced navigation software and the like which appear in the product shares list seems to be handled differently by the game. I tried my non-ethical profit strategy on them and I lost... as they automatically regenerate :cry:

- Well, as you can see, I discuss on details, but there isn't much to improve at all, everything is fluid! Only thing I see now, is a little message when a stock exchange station is destroyed, in order to know why we lost our shares.

There is a very small random factor yes, it's a bit hard to expain without giving it away totally. The numbers for each natural ware are actually linked to numbers got from the game environment. If you look long and hard enough, you may find what each one is linked to. Same for their Min and Max prices, it's not actually random. 8)

Um ... I know exactly what happened there, and i'm sorry to tell you but it wasn't a station being destroyed. I don't think you could call it a 'bug', more a side effect. The insider trading check thought you were cheating.

The needed stock is the total capacity for that ware as a resource at all the stations in the exchange area and the max capacity for it if it is at a Trading Station or Dock.

Sounds like even the game doesn't like insider trading going on. :P

A big thanks to you and all the other testers that helped to make it what it is now. I asked for people to help make it what they wanted, and i'm not finished yet.

On the note, draffutt has found that at present this script is unfortunatly not compatable with the Transend Mod. When i get time i will however look into how it can be made compatable. As people find issues like that i will list them in the OP when released.

Noticed a discrepancy.

The color of the Index arrows (^ v) are reversed on the 'detailed share I own screen' - v is green and ^ is red - which actually makes more sense from the traders perspective - i prefer it this way.

Hi all,

Thanks for the words of encouragement people, much appreciated.

As for the discrepancy you noticed SoliDeoGloria, I changed the colors in the Detailed Summary menu because i thought you were looking at that menu more from a selling perspective rather than a buying perspective as you are in the Local exchange menu, I didn't find the opposite colors in the 2 menus to hard to understand, but if it becomes a problem i'm open to suggestions.

Still trying to push ahead with the planned release later today. Had to fix a few niggling bugs some have found, but nothing to major, just little stuff. Not going to worry about another test version as most of the changes are pretty easy for me to test effectivly.

Incorperated a further max cargo capacity check for mods / scripts that add stations or increase the cargo space of existing stations. Makes it a bit more compatable with FDN, PM and Apricotslices Merg Mod.

Also made some changes to try to address the incompatability issue with Transend Mod. Changing sector ownership has also had a change in behaviour for sector takeover mods and scripts.

Mods and scripts that add sectors to the map will still cause unlnown issues that will have to be addressed on the fly.

Wares list has been further filtered to remove unwanted entries (and an unforseen plot item).

Unknown sectors showing when "only known Sectors' option used have been given their eviction notice.

Ok, enough from me, back to finishing the script for release.

Long time lurker, first time poster here.
SO, first of all I would just like to say howdy to everyone here!!

'Howdy' :)

I've been playing X3TC for a few months now, and found this community to be wealth of resources.


Basically I just dropped in to express my enthusiasm for this Stock Exchange Mod.
I have a few mods installed and they're working well for me at the moment. So something like this would really complement my customised universe.
Keep up the good work, I am really looking forward to this being released.

Anyone care to come up with a logo type picture that can be used for this ?
I'm sure there are some quite talented people on this board, but if someone hasn't already been tasked to the job and you have something in mind, I am pretty handy with photoshop.

Glad you decided to make your first post here, and welcome to this crazy world of ours. :D

Only playing for a few months ? Hardly scratched the surface, many adventures before you, i remember wayyyyy back when i started my first run through of 'X Beyond the Frontier' when it came out, .... ok i shut up now cos i'm showing my age. :oops:

I agree there are some really talented people here, however, when it comes to the artwork / design side of things, i'm not one of them. As for some ideas, nope not really, maybe a station with coins /credits spraying out ? I really don't have anything really in mind. So if you would like to let your imagination run amuck, lets see what you come up with. Thanks for the offer.

Just doing some final cleanup of the script code, then package and release. The intitial release will bein both SPK and Zip formats and will be hosted on my Filefront account but not on the X3TC Filefront site. This will be done so i can update the files quickly with revisions if nessesary.
