A big cheer for Egosoft & the folks who helped expanding this game! I have enjoyed the new storyline alot & was happy to see old stuff wasn't forgotten.

Honestly I have no complains towards egosoft as they still care about gamers (and not our wallets).
They created a formidable sandbox game with alot of interesting stuff & goals. You can be a trade mogul, a mercenary fleet commander, a xenofobic Terran or an illegal stuff merchant, something for everyone! Big applaud for that, not easy to make such games. And lets not forget the graphics, while we all say gameplay > graphics, it is great if you got fun gameplay combined with stunning graphics.
Sometimes I tune up the graphics to full, and visit a few places, just to marvel at the beauty of it.

Have to totally disagree I found the plot patronising, daft and annoying to the point where I just couldn't be bothered the suduko was the final torpedo that sunk my interest.

A big thanks however, for the patch and bonus pack.

Egosoft deserves one great round of applause for their work on the X3 series.
Applause hell... they deserve $'s! Probably in the form of pre-ordering their next game. Of course, there is one more... formality that needs to be overcome: Egosoft needs to tell us what that game is. I hope this triviallity will be dispatched at Egosoft's earliest convenience. Like maybe right now. ;)
Maybe the introduction of STEAM achievements is an indication of the possibility of introducing "paid for" expansion packs for X3:TC delivered (exclusivly?) by STEAM perhaps.

Errmm... not really since the DVD users (of which I am one) can register their key on STEAM now (which I will not do until there is a good reason to... STEAM achievements are not a good reason IMO).

Does the bonus pack (CLS, Dock Ware, etc) flag you for modified, or are you still technically 'vanilla'?
enenra wrote
The whole point about the Bonuspack is that it doesn't cause a modified.
I uninstalled my previous X3TC install and manually deleted all folders, then installed 2.5, upgraded to 2.6, installed the bonus pack solely-no other scripts/mods, and started a new game as Terra Defender. My Pilot Status says *modified* at the bottom. hmmm
Have you read the CLS (MK 1 and MK2) Warning: from readme on new bonus patch? =

Automatic naming

Warning: The Automatic Naming option in this version of the script turns on the ***Modified*** flag. So don't use this function for now. We are hunting down the volunteer testers, who did not voluntee for this detail.

good idea to have backed up our saved games first before installing it...

Great update.

But I have to ask; has anything been done about making outfitting a wing of ships with wares, software and upgrades plausible? Has the "Equip Ships Like" command been fixed?

Does anyone know how the 2.6 patch improves rendering performance?

Just wondering, for those of us using mods like this lot...
http://www.[blocked due to google malware warning]/x3tc/

to enhance performance on lesser machines, is there anything not required/conflicting now.

For instance does the better rendering affect shaders?, and so would using sswamp troopers mod now be needed or actually be detrimental.

More detail required if anyone knows please.

many thanks Egosoft! You are the best. It is a rare thing in the 21st that a company makes me a happy and faithful costumer. I own a 20 year old electric jigsaw from Bosch, which is a fine tool, which makes me buy more Bosch tools.
Peace and prosper.

Performance is great now. My Geforce 8800 GTS 512mb was a little too weak.
Aladna Hill was a no go area, even with lowest settings. Now I may add one or two factories to my Armorycomplex. Good work, I am impressed how much traffic my machine can handle and still manages enough fps.

I am looking forward to Egosofts TNBT! Gods of Kobol!

Cheers from Vienna

Patience young Padawan !

You gave everyone 8 hours on a Sunday to answer your question.

Try waiting until after Monday or Tuesday when everyone in the Egosoft office has had chance to look at your question.

This might suprise you, but people who work Mon - Fri tend to like having the weekend off

What? You mean people have lives outside of X?.. No way, is that the RL thing I here of, sounds a bit matrix to me, dont believe it... :)

Fair point, I was trying to figure why performance seems to have dropped slightly with this patch - But with a hangover

Just installed 2.6 and X3 no longer runs on my system.. Using Windows 7 64 bit version. It just crashes with an "X3 has stopped running" dialogue box.

Maybe it overwrote a mod or something?

When you install a patch, you almost always need to reinstall any mods afterwards, though whether the mods are compatible is another matter. You will need to ask in the Scripts and Modding forum in the thread for the script/mod you are running.

I think I'll just reinstall the game and play vanilla. My old game was getting stale anyway.

Well I wasnt rich but I had fabs in all the wrong places, ships I'd bought on a whim doing nothing and too many station build missions done where the fab is just taking up space.

I still used my Boron Angel more than any other ship and I had that from just a few days in.
