I stuck in 1.0x :(
You hav a downloaded version of the dvd version. CHeck the 1.2 for which patch you need ( may be same as dvd ) and then use the hotfix.

Although I suspect that's a generic email anyway.

Yep, looks like a standard canned reply, probably didn't even investigate the problem. I'm not going to rant on here because that belongs on the Steam forums.

All I have done is manually updated and disabled automatic updates so it doesn't mess up. Next chance I get i'll be buying the dvd version, won't be using Steam again.

Er, yes there is. The 1.0.1->1.2.1 patch on the Downloads page should work for all non-Steam versions.

I knew I should've just spent a few more bucks and order my game from the UK and pay for the shipping. Honestly, Steam sucks with 3rd party games. They are never up to date and their attitude is just beyond tolerable.

To the mods and devs of Egosoft, would it be possible for future patches, you guys send the patch to steam a few days ahead to let them do all their slow[butt] testing and uploading to the server. And after they're ready, THEN release the patch for dvd versions. It doesn't hurt if everyone is waiting a few days longer rather then letting half of the community wait for the patch.

Now I know someone might say just manually update the game, however, steam is a *#*@@# @#(#@ #@( (#@*(#@ (@# #)@(*! program and I really don't want to mess with it and end up reinstalling the game. But seriously, should players who love the game that bought it off steam should wait longer then players who bought the dvd version? (I assume most people who bought the game off steam resides in the US)

unpack to C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\x3 terran conflict

overwrite when prompted (if you have cycrow spk installed - re run to create 06 files) nd you have 1.21
I've uploaded this to my server, saves the trouble of having to download from rapidshare.

My performance for 1.2.1 patch

My Comp:-

2x opteron 2Ghz Processors
2GB DDR Ram dual channel 3200
6800 Gt 256MB clocked to 435Mhz
Sound Adigy 2 ZS

Super super silky smooth performance in The Wall sector so should be good and playable everywhere now. Before The Wall sector was 2fps. Massive performance improvement for me at least 30fps now thank u Egosoft )))))

Even putting graphics up higher I get the same fantasic performance defo a CPU performance improvement in 1.2.1

Tried it only on a bad performance v 1.2 save
CPU - Motorola 68000 12Mhz
Zilog Z80 4Mhz
RAM - 74KB
Vid - 64KB
Sound - Yamaha YM2610 15

To make sure you're up to date:
1. Right-click on X3:TC in the Steam list, then choose Properties.
2. Next, go to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify integrity of game cache."

Thank you... and thanks to dminor also for pointing that out. It worked fine, now I'm at v. 1.2 ...

can't wait for v. 1.2.1...

Weird how the steam download i got just 4 days ago wasn't saying 1.2 already...

But ya know, this is probably the only game i've had in quite a long time i would keep playing even with all the ... uh... less than perfect experiences i've had with it. I hope it continues to get better. I've been mentioning it a few places maybe we'll see summore new faces around here...

Why wasn't Universal/sector traders addressed in this patch? To me that seems like a pretty serious bug that ultimately makes them useless as a source of income. :(

This is more of a "hotfix" like one of the moderators said. They are still figuring out what's wrong with it. You can find a lot of thread on that in the technical forums. Hopefully it'll get fixed by the 1.3 patch. *crosses fingers*

I also mentioned it in the tech support forum, but be sure to backup your game files first if your are 'manually' patching, because the egosoft patcher not only adds the 05.cat, 05.dat, and x3files.xml. But, it also patches all 4 script package files in your 't' folder as well. I can't get the mod tools to run under Vista properly because of VB issues, so perhaps someone could look into what is patched in those that has changed.

Saturday and still no Steam Update...

Should of known better. Guess I will just have to update it manually at this point.

If those two files are the only ones that have to be changed then back them up... And do the manual update. When they finally decide to get off their ass for steam and update the game.. Just Use the backup files and have steam update as normal.

Thats what I'm going to do... I would wait but the game is starting to bog down now with the old version.
