CBJ said in another thread (see link in em3e3's post back up this page)
The game runs fine on a multi-core system but doesn't use more than a single core itself. You may still get some small benefit from running the game on a multi-core system over a single-core one because background processes can be run on a separate core, allowing the game pretty much exclusive use of the core it is running on.
On my P4 3.4ghz (single core) X3 used to run around 30-40 fps but as my signature says on my new E8500 (duel core) PC I am getting fps in excess of 100 even in sectors with lots going on.
If TC runs the same as normal X3 then although the game may not be specifically programmed for dual cores CBJ is absolutely spot on when he says you "may" get some small benefit -you really, really do.

What is RAM (memory) of above PCs ?
What video cards of above PCs ?
What are OS (operation systems) of above PCs ?
I'm just going to assume that's the requirement when running Vista. Since I'm still on XP (with a minimal amount of software cluttering my desktop), my 2 GB will probably do the job just fine.
Fortunately I'm still on XP as well.
Wouldn't be too much for a bother to get an extra gb of ram, especially for TC

This means that Egosoft not provide support for Steam versions of X3:Terran Conflict ?
No, it means that the patches distributed on this site work only on the retail version. EgoSoft will also create a Steam version of the patch, which will be distributed over Steam itself. Any user attempting to apply a retail patch to a steam version will encounter problems.

You can't compare a cpu using Core 2 architecture to one using the old netburst architecture. Your new cpu does a lot more work per clock, and so is comparable to a P4 of much higher clock frequency.

If you have two cores an you assing OS tasks, resident programs (antivirus), etc to first core and you assign the X3 TC to second core you can get more speed.
If you have 4 cores and you assing one to X3 TC and divide OS tasks, resident programs, etc with the other cores a little more speed...
but to have cores is good but the speed is good too. If you want more you can overclock it, I've read that 3.2 Ghz intel quad core QX9875 (i think) can be overclocked to 5 Ghz...
Just pre-ordered the game.. Hope it arrives without any troubles (first time when I am ordering physical media by CC payment from other countries.. Can't wait already for the game!)

But the cooling system that overclock needs costs more than the whole PC, besides the QX9875 is too expensive for the average joe.
Anyone can guide which is the AMD® equivalent at 2.0?
I think the processors are called XP2000+ and upwards.
Think more in the line of athlon 64 3200+ or athlon 64 X2 4200+ cpu's they run at 2ghz and up.
The cpu you queted runs at 1.66ghz and is much slower then an equally clocked amd64 or intel core 2 duo cpu.
So an Athlon 64 3800+ will run fine.
Can anyone confirm this?

Yes it will run fine that was my old cpu (3500+ oc'd to a 3800+) and X3 ran happly on it although my gfx card was a bit underpowered back then.
Wow... I'll basically never do any school work ever, ever again. Even if I get bored with X3TC, I'll just go back to Spore. If I get bored with that, I whip out X3TC.
Has the functionality of X3 been improved? Menus, distributors, station supply, unified station management, more ample info on production costs of stations and complexes?!
Is there a place that basically tells me why i should buy X3 TC aside from the new story, graphics and more icing on the cake? What im looking for is more functionality and control of what happens in your empire.

Its much appreciated.
Thanks
If that's what you asked the game user interface (GUI) has been through a total overhaul, we must wait and see how that fares.
