I don't understand why this is still an issue with the MP3 codec patents having expired a while back. Egosoft should just ship an MP3 decoder on the Linux version.

Not only does one have to convert files to .ogg but they have to be named .mp3 which is kinda hilarious...

Nope. And at the risk of taking you a bit too literally; completely wiping out a race will cause all sorts of problems, because the game engine was never designed to handle such a situation.
I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am :D

Everybody seems to know what a "Director" is. But what is an "Unirector" or a "Trirector"?

About time you decide to remove this mod from the web.

So I'm still having a problem with the Xenon C ships Freezing my game, When I get around 5-6 Kilometers from them, the game freezes and I have to force close it through the task manager. I've exported and imported my game to see if that fixed it but it does not. Does anyone know a way to fix this?

SETA Improvements

Post by Stollie »

Love this mod, it brings so much to the game!

Just a question though, have you already or would you guys be willing to make a stand alone version of the SETA improvements?

When I first realized I could use other menus etc., I was like wow, this would have been a nice Vanilla on/off option.

I know X4 is coming out this year so we'll probably all migrate to that if it lives up to the hype and you guys are probably not interested in working on this mod anymore but if its simple and you're willing, I for one would appreciate it so I can use it in a Vanilla world :)

Unfortunately it comes down to the fact that if we did, we would break everyones save games that installed it, and make egosoft patches only partially compatible with your game.

Depends on how you implement it. A precise binary edit works fine with existing saves.

There is a seta unlock option in my customizer tool (see sig), along with a couple other optional seta related tweaks. Practically, the game will cap out on effective seta based on however fast it can crunch its workload, but you can play around and find whatever feels right for your rig. I vaguely recall getting it up around 40x sustained ingame when removing most npc traffic.

Very true, I've not needed to go anywhere near hex editing in a very long time, so no we cant do what you want @Stollie, but looks like @SirNukes already has to some extent;

However, slightly off topic, as the original question was about SETA shutdowns, not increasing limits: i recommend against increasing the SETA limit in general due to the issues it can cause on the scripting side related to signals depending on how violently the game decides to throttle itself (I've experienced lost execution stacks here and there when it happens), however if you want to in LU you can by editing a TextDB entry, 68-200.

Why would you need Hephaistos in LU?
