really not sure what to make of that trailer, it seems more suited for a film then a game, I would say if the game isn't like that, then this borderlines of false advertising? sure trailers do hype up games, but would have been better if the trailer was using ingame footage, as they put a disclaimer at the end.
I think I still won't touch this with a ten foot barge pole, not until much, much later!

Just wait until you get some "lets play!" type videos made with the released version - to see what actual game play is.matthewfarmery wrote:I think I still won't touch this with a ten foot barge pole, not until much, much later!
I'm sure there will be plenty of those within the first 72 hours after release. It's what I'm waiting for

Well they do have "not actual game footage" at the bottom of the screen near the start (it's there for all of about 2 seconds) but really, what's the point of a trailer if they're not going to show what's really in the bloody game. Makes me suspicious. Not that I'm remotely interested in playing it anyway - they lost me as a potential customer when they decided against making an offline mode.thrangar wrote:I would say its misleading, its named the Launch trailer, so many will think that, the things they saw are indicative of whats now in the game.

as expected the scammers are advertising their dull product with fake footage, not really surprised.
This whole Elite Dangerous thing only lives of fake advertising and astroturfing paid comments.
And so, the saga of deception continues.

It's a trailer and clearly states it's not ingame footage at the start so how exactly is that scamming with fake footage?Ravenhurst wrote:..

I've got issues with the trailer but fake footage isn't one of them.

Well let's see. I've seen NPCs mining. I've seen mining NPCs being attacked by pirates.
I've seen a fight at a space station. So all those things are true.
What we're saying is the trailer is stylized and made more cinematic, but it's hardly lying, and as for it not being a very accurate reflection of what playing the game is like, well welcome to every single game trailer ever made.
And of course, let's not forget that once again, we're not playing the full game yet. Maybe there will be expansive battles in and around space stations that you and groups of friends can participate in.

Yeah, the trailer is a bit glorified COD style all action wham bang thank you maam.
The game isn't. It's a lot more considered.
Still, if they can take some of the shiny from the trailer and get it in the game I won't be complaining. I just don't want the game to turn into a brightly coloured FPS in space.

It is sorta playable, but not enjoyable w/o joystick. Among other nasty people joystick nazis took over frontierRegisterMe wrote:"don't, get a joystick".

Yup, I'm glad the Joystick Nazi's who prefer a little bit of immersion drown out those who favour yet another dreary Call of Duty in spacekurush wrote:It is sorta playable, but not enjoyable w/o joystick. At least it is better than X2 with this combo

In all seriousness, the game plays more like a WW2 flight sim than a FPS game which to me and a lot of other space 'sim' fans is exactly what we've been yearning for, to call them/us joystick nazi's isn't so much offensive as just plain hilarious

Well, I bought the Mercenary Edition, and I have access only to the Combat tutorials for now. But I have to admit that even though I have access to so little content, I'm already happy with my purchase. Combat is simply great. And I'm using mouse and keyboard...shea wrote:Is it worth buying now? Also how is it with mouse and keyboard. Thanks
