Or you want to see X games end ???sMull wrote:How about all of you get a life, play another game (there are thousands you know), and just forget about rebirth until its done. Not complicated. I do have a life. That's why I don't have the time to post on forums about how other people should better spend their time.sMull wrote:How about all of you get a life
<.. and there you see why we ask posters not to make personal remarks in their posts as it just instigates a personal response, and so on, and so derails the thread. End that aspect here please. Alan Phipps>
Wow, how funny is it that you say his remark was personal but yet you go after my subsequent post and not his? Conduct such as that is ironic and hypocritical (not a personal attack; an observation of conduct).
But, no. His remark was not a personal remark. It was a general comment proscribed to all who are fed up with waiting on this forum. I consider it on topic when someone posts a comment about how impatient people are when there are other things out there we could be doing in a release date thread. And my comment was directed at his comment as a direct rebuttal of why I'm not doing what he suggests. Maybe it was just something you didn't like? I'm sorry if you didn't like it.
Please send me a personal message next time you wish to educate me on the forum rules. As it is, I almost didn't even see your quip above.

1. This will be true X-universe game (as they say). So you may take X3:AP as reference and diff anything known out of there to get a complete picture.Nikola515 wrote:Hmm iformation like what ? You will have one ships some drones and
2. No more connected boxes - greater play space. There will be no gates initially and then they will only interconnect different solar systems. Inside solar system movement will be though tradelines (as in Freelancer) of different size and, probably, speed. So, again, a lot of space to fly, battle and hide things around.
3. Wide modular system for everything - from stations to ships, allowing to reprofile or extend your asset in any way you want. As latest news shows this system will be implemented as "tech tree" thing, not by arbitrary connecting modules to arbitrary stations/ships.
4. No small pilotable interceptors - you will be flying corvette-sized ship from very beginning - safety and less frustration for early game. Instead of fighters there are remotely controllable drones, so you can still fly and shoot as you will, but if you got it destroyed - game isn't over, just launch another one and get your revenge. Probably same mechanics could be applied to bigger objects as well.
5. There is co-pilot AI that takes control over ship when you are busy with some other tasks like drone control. So, no more sudden death from unknown. At least you can blame AI for everything now =)
6. No direct control of large ships.
7. Huge scale of everything - large ships as "normal" freight transports between stations, your corvette-sized ship may dock this large ships. Stations which are good battlefields for same corvette-sized ships...
8. AI improvements - if we take X3:AP as reference, current AI will just not handle greatly increased scale. It already have problems with terran stations.
9. UI improvements - Ego said that they are working hard on this, so no more shift+c + 4+ 3 + down + down + enter + down + right + enter sequences.
10. A massive changes in goods variety - a lot of new goods added and a lot of old goods removed. Same with stations (obviously)
11. ... A lot of other information, I can't even recall everything.
Everything else probably just like in X3:AP.
We don't know details, but details is something that may change at any moment, so that's ok. What else you want to know, exactly?
P.S. Also, please note that all previous history of EgoSoft tell us, that it will be very short time before release after announcement, but game will be playable after half-year or year - release date doesn't mean anything. But you may see this period as huge demo.
P.P.S. Yes, Ego promised that X:R will have greater focus on quality, but I won't bet on it too much considering all the changes.

Like i mentioned before everyhing we alred know because it alredy exists in other games(ship walking is only new thing what we know of) Everyhing ealse is just better game graphics and less stupid AI...
So they didnt tell us something that we alredy knwo....We know that there will be some changes which is not a bad thing because all good games need more improvment and we need more features(like adding ship boarding in x3 tc i like that )My point ...Everything that we know we alredy knowed from start...What we want to know is what are going to be new features
in game? How is economy going to run (we all know that there will stations all games have tham
) what resources are using(i dont think this informatin will affect game sales
)....Some visual information(video, pictures) How battles look like ,ships or communication with NPC's how it work.... I know they can do that...This game was originaly planed to be out 2011 than 2012 and now 2013....If they are going to play us for 3 years they should at least give some info insted of ignoring us and our requests .... There were good games like Nexsus or Homeworld and they are gone too because of lack of information to public....
Sorry bad English

You are messing "new tech" (new engine) with game spirit. Game will remain the same, tech and some mechanics will change, some will not. And what exactly will change we know more or less.Geek wrote: No. If we are ever know something about XR, is that nothing (beyond the lore) will be taken from AP.
About boarding - it was AFAIK confirmed (more or less) that boarding will be in-game (otherwise there will be no boarding and no caping - all ships are "large" now).
That's details. There will be economy, much like in X3:AP, but with different goods and increased variety. Maybe better algorithms and less intrusive scripts - that's details and that's up to playtesting. They can't just tell you now how playable/interesting/useful economy will be.in game? How is economy going to run (we all know that there will stations all games have tham ) what resources are using(i dont think this informatin will affect game sales )
You have enough already - both screenshots and videos. You'll be never satisfied with amount of visual art they will give up and they can give only limited amount without spoiling the game. So, it's better to burst it just prior the release to cultivate hype than give it by small portions in response of just another forum whining. Some visual information(video, pictures)
Pew-pew. It's confirmed that X:R will use old arcade physics, so you may load X3:AP and looks at some war sector battle - it will be something like that. Maybe greater scale - more ships, more pew-pew... Particular effects and other things are details. How battles look like ,ships or communication with NPC's how it work....
And how interaction works - we know already that interaction will be with some 3d movement within ship/station, probably as in Freelancer or Myst or StarCraft 2 - not via menus (yet I think that some crucial options, like mission taking, will be available though fast menus too), but that's much the question about UI.
UI is hardest and most volatile option of any game, especially such feature-rich as any game in X-series.
You can't give UI screenshots - they will say nothing. You can't describe it - it will be too much words. UI could be shown only by providing it in game. So, well, you'll have to wait for it.
Some macro details about UI - will we have same old upgrades, like "Trading software" or "Fight software" to unlock additional AI commands, or will Egosoft still focus on micromanagement or they will provide automation AI commands from very beginning (NavSat deployment, mining, transporting, etc, etc) - that's answered more or less, already. EgoSoft told us that fleet control is greatly improved, so hard tasks are now easy, which probably mean more automation. Will be it still modular and will we be forced to pay for this modules - that's a detail that may change in any moment.
Sometimes it's better to let you forget instead of feeding you with endless promises. They don't want to became second Stalker or Duke Nukem Forever. If they are going to play us for 3 years they should at least give some info insted of ignoring us and our requests ....
Nexus failed because of many things, including a lot of hype around this game and a lot of broken promises upon release. It should have been much wider game (Imperium Galactica). New Nexus efforts at crowd-funding failed due to developer haven't shown much interest and passion in developing this project. Not because of lack of information - there was a lot of information, it was just wrong information at wrong place at wrong time. There were good games like Nexsus or Homeworld and they are gone too because of lack of information to public....
Homeworld, all three games (Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm and Homeworld 2) were critically-acclaimed and economically successful. They gone because their developer/owner/publisher lost interest in that particular market. Yet I think that Homeworld series are not done, they are just suspended for better times.
I really doubt that X-series is so much economically viable or successful. Probably DeepSilver just holding it as safe lauchpad for further expansion if market will grow.

One video and some pic in five years of development is hardly enough...and i belive 99% of people will tell you same thing
People/customers are not happy about this and im one of them...
They are giving us update once every year and that is (that game will be out next year) And telling us what hidrogen or plasma is going to be used for or if im going to need give workers food like in x3 or just pay them money to work is not going to spoil game....But if i was asking what ships are they going to have and what is the best capital ship.... plotline races and teritory, shield and tipe of weapons, storyline, how stations looks frome inside......That will spoil game...I understend why they are not telling us everything even blind man can see that
But some small information that are not vital to game should be relised and they need to be more active with public... All we need some small info to keep fans happy after 3 years of waiting and who knows how long more
And about XR i hope its not simular like X3 AP because beside little better graphics and smart missle script that game is just copy of X3 TC....And sector wars sucks because you can't make any diffrence in them or war anything in the game... I think TC was better game and AP was just chep lore to make more money (scam)

I still don't understand... I mean...
Ok, look, I'm not going to argue back, because that won't get anywhere, but I will point out several points as usual:
1. Don't say everyone agrees with you. That's not true.
2. "3 years of waiting", it's not even 2 years yet.
And irrelevant but amusing:
3. "AP is a copy of TC with a bit more added", yep... and TC the same wrt. R...

the massive hype of star citizen cannot being underestimated, Egosoft already lost the hype war... and there's the stereotype of X being a game that is hard to understand and even harder to enjoy, isn't going to help Rebirth too... and finally what I said above, Rebirth remain hidden, I bet more than 75% percent of the people who caught up with citizen hype don't even know about X series, to them Rebirth will just be a lesser class product, they will use citizen as a benchmark and find Rebirth is going to be lacking.tero wrote:Unlikely. We're not having dozens of Games to choose from, like it is with ie fps. Some may buy a year later, but they will.nap_rz wrote:..., the longer this game remain hidden the worse the sale will be.

all is going to worse if citizen come out before Rebirth.
and then you have elite dangerous and who know what's out there that haven't been announced yet.

All in all we end up with what? 3 or 4 Space-Games. There is enough room for X:Rebirth, hyped or not.
The only question i see is, which game stays for a longer time. Depending on modding, the ingame feeling etc etc. But that is decided when they're available and has nothing to do with marketing strategie.

Uh really ? Since you are so well informed, what mechanics (beyond the fact it is a space simulation) stay the same ?Night Nord wrote:You are messing "new tech" (new engine) with game spirit. Trade - overhauled (no docking, scanning, pricing etc).
Fight - completely different (one ship, drones, subsystems)
Build - overhauled (giant modular stations)
Think - completely different (mandatory plot, npc interactions, legal system, full systems with highways etc)
Those things are not details... they make one game from another.
Right on commander !

How much in percentage time you spent by transporting goods in person and how much money you gain from that in previous games? Or how much time you spent personally manipulating stations while being docked at them?Geek wrote: Trade - overhauled (no docking, scanning, pricing etc).
Really, most of X-series games in table clicking - NPC go here, trade there, do this, etc...
I'm not even saying that personal trading and docking still exists and it was confirmed (it's just normal and easier to trade on "TL"s or whatever they are now) (you may walk on stations and trade/communicate with NPCs).
From what I've seen it should be like flying on Hyperion with fighter docked and jumping into fighter as needed (or deploying them to their death upon your foe). Just now you can't die in this fighter. Subsystems are just logical continuation of what we have already - weapon interchange, modular equipment/software, missile launchers... You may see at as improved UI.Geek wrote:

What is really new is RPG alike research-tree for stations. But again, you may see it as simple-and-easy preset complex construction. UI advancement.Geek wrote:

X2 already had mandatory plot - it was bad idea and I think that Ego will not repeat this error. Probably it will be as much mandatory as in X3:R, better - TC/AP. We don't have much information about plot, right, but hey - that's would be a huge spoiler! One thing we know almost for sure - plot will serve as launchpad/wide tutorial for further open game. And I doubt that there will be no "custom start" option. At least you can always mod plot away - too much plot is better than no plot at all =).Geek wrote:

NPC interactions/stations inside/whatever - again, remember X2 and X3:R. They already tried this, but it failed due to bad/slow/non optimized for such environments engine.
Legal system is just improvement of existing reputation system. It's nothing new in modern games, so you may approximate the range of possibilities quite precisely.
Highways are solar system/terran accelerators with in-game animation instead of movie (more or less). It will be something new only if they are like tradelines in Freelancer (and could be disabled for a period of time by shooting "pilon" structure to make an ambush). X3: AP already got accelerators to move around huge Aldrin system, so it's nothing new, again. + see Freelancer implementation. + We have a LOT of information about them already, what exactly is unclear about them?
All you mentioned are not details, but we got a lot of information about every topic, so everything that left untold are details. I have a pretty complete picture of what we are getting here, and you? Those things are not details... they make one game from another.
I'll open one big secret for you - Freelancer was more popular than X2 (X3?) at same time, because it got cool intensive plot, easy mechanics and well-known gamedesigner. But it didn't hurt X2 sales, I think (they are always rather low, I supposethe massive hype of star citizen cannot being underestimated

All information we have is based mostly on theories and guesses... we don't know what or how is going to work...They give us small scraps of information so we can argue and think about it while we wait for game....( we know there will be tec tree but how it works we know nothing about....If it's going to be RPG stule or whatever thats your idea and it might be diffrent in game nobody know but them...)
