I've an awful feeling there's gonna be violence later after the results are formally ratified. - I don't imagine for one minute Pence is gonna try and overturn the election result, not because it's unlawful, but because he understands that actions have consequences, something Trump and his family still doesn't understand. I think they're going to soon.

Had a chuckle when I discovered Loeffler's own basketball team wore tee-shirts asking Georgians to vote for the Democrats.

the national guard has already been called in. And some areas of DC are already been shut down. also the Proud Boy leader has been arrested.

So things are not looking good.

Edit

It's really mind boggling, if this was any other country, there would be world wide condemnation and even the US will condemn this kind of behaviour. And probably might say something along the lines of, "look at our great country for an example of how democracy works"

But here we have a great example of it not working too well, some say this is a stress test. But to me, America has nearly failed. And with the prospect of violence in DC, a fool of a president who is still doing everything he can to cling onto power. this is a very bad example.

Sadly, I don't see these wounds ever healing, and may end up getting worse as time passes.

Just to be clear that happened a few (5?) days ago, and was the result of him burning a BLM sign outside of a church in, I think, DC. It's not (directly) related to whatever does or doesn't happen today in DC.

Staggered by the speech Trump just gave...

I don't think there's another democracy in the first world where such a thing could happen. I cannot begin to articulate how ridiculous it looks to me, and I guess to many people from outside the US. He sounds like an unhinged second world war dictator refusing to accept the enemy is at the gate and his empire has gone.

And I wonder if the only thing that can keep him out of prison is his very fragile mental health. - I wonder if a divorce comes soon (citing third party known/unknown.) Yes, there's stormy weather in his future, for sure...

The joint sessions is about to start. But also seems there are a number of house republicans who will object to biden as well.

Watching now.

Well, yeah. Mo Brooks from Alabama was the first of the Trumpanzies to kick off this objection scheme. But, again, it doesn't matter. There's no way that the house will have a majority to object, and it's highly doubtful the senate will have a majority to object. Without BOTH, the objection fails.

Yeah, still, going to be interesting to watch. Pence will likely do his duty, even though Trump will be furious at him.

First objection. so a debate will happen and may take up to 2 hours.

Edit, will be interesting if the GOP comes up with some evidence, but considering there been none, I don't think much will happen.

They're just delaying the inevitable. It's pitiful. This whole thing is probably going to last at least 6 hours longer than it needs to.

Indeed. it is pitiful.

That guy that is speaking now, he seems to like to bring up the founding fathers, that is just so laughable, afterall, Trump has done everything to defy the found fathers, and more. He just saying total and utter BS.

edit
Mitch is now talking.

Looks like Mitch is going to dump Trump.

doesn't sound like McConnel is going along with the objection. That pretty well kills any chance of having a senate majority to object.

I think he did go on record to say that he would accept the results, and wanted his fellow GOP to fall in line.

Its good to see him finally stand up to his orange overlord.

Trump will be furious if he hears this. But I think he coming to DC, last I heard.

Edit

he sounds like he fed up of the bickering and infighting of both sides.

Edit, he will vote to uphold the people's wishes.

Trump is already in DC throwing a temper tantrum in front of the white house. He may head to the capitol building but I don't think he has any right to enter without permission of the speaker.

It's really sad to see so many protesters, and they are trying to break into capital hill.

it's like they don't want a democracy anymore. they not interested in voting for a president. What a sad state of affairs.

Edit

got a back feeling, this will get ugly.

Edit

Someone or someones is breaking glass, there are suppose to be capital hill police, but not to be seen.

I suspect those protestors will break in, unless there is more security brought in.

Crazy.

Edit

Trump is to blame for this, he needs to be held accountable.

edit

they have broken into capital hill

edit

a curfew has been called 6pm their time. so 3 hours from now.

Doubt that will do much good. Sometime tells me, Trump might get his wish to declare martial law.
