I imagine that if he were to sign an executive order to bomb Iran, or whatever it takes to instigate such action, someone would stand up to him now. Someone would stop him. Surely the people around him know that he's a lost cause? Surely there's some 'unfit to lead' mechanism in the constitution.

And in totally unrelated breaking news from UK politics... This really will mean nothing to you. I just realised our own eccentric but slightly less dangerous leader, Boris Johnson, based both his appearance and ungainly mannerisms on a wonderful fictional character from a UK TV drama character, Selwyn Frogitt.

He hasn't tweeted in almost 12 hours. This means he's concocting another cunning plan for global domination...

I wouldn't put it past him. If he quite, then he up to no good. He knows the clock is ticking against him.

If Trump resigns now, Pence gets sworn in as President and Pelosi gets sworn in as VP which means she will oversee the elector vote count on Jan 6. Highly highly doubt they'll hand that to her given everything else that's occurred. If Trump does resign, expect it on the morning of Jan 20.

And now I know why he's such a sour-faced old git.

I thought he was bragging when banging on about having piles of gold, but perhaps it was just a desperate plea for medical assistance.

Probably the only guy on the planet who needs to book an appointment with a dentist to have his piles sorted...

Pence has officially asked to have Larry Goober's suit dismissed. Trump is also confused as to why the VP can't over turn the election despite the 12th Amendment clearly saying
The President of the Senate (the Vice President of the United States) shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted;-The person having the greatest Number of votes for President, shall be the President, if such number be a majority of the whole number of Electors appointed;
Must be hard for Trump. I couldn't imagine needing to go through life with having R and L printed on my shoes so I know which foot they go on.

The last of the last tricks Trump might've possibly had, would've been adhering to Stalin's old adage: it doesn't matter how they vote, it matters who counts the votes. ;P

Surely in America that won't be a problem.

If democrats didn't hold the house, it probably would be a problem. The very fact that this is even being attempted and members of congress that swore to support and defend the constitution are involved should worry everyone.

Surely there have to be enough principled politicians amongst the Republican ranks even if they controlled both houses? It beggars belief that an entire party could be so corrupt that they'd simply ignore the election results and declare themselves winners because of a loophole in the election procedure.

I'd hope this loophole is legally closed without delay.

Damn, we live in a pretty screwed up world...

It's not a loophole. It's purpose is to resolve legitimate election disputes, not this BS of Trump's. Instead, what should happen next is every single senator and representative that is attempting to abuse the systems be ejected and charged with treason.

I hear Trump's new year's party that he ran from was a blast. His party was headlined by A list celebrities such as Rudy Colludy and Vanilla Ice. Shame I missed it.

The senate has voted to override Trump's veto of the defense bill. Now that this is resolved, they're going to start renaming military bases that were named after confederates. It's about time.

Their decision is a total betrayal of their ancestors and the cause of liberty. This is just another propaganda hit piece against the White race, who did less enslaving than many other races. We have a right to honor all generals, including ones that had slaves. Why aren't they continuously badmouthing all the Mohometan and negro leaders, and leaders of other races, that had slaves? Why are only White nations expected to capitulate and allow their countries to be invaded and their leaders denigrated? There will be a huge backlash and soon civil war.

Well, genius, the only nation we're talking about here is the US. The US isn't a "white nation". It's a melting pot made up of many races, which whites aren't too far away from no longer being in the majority of. Confederates were traitors to the US. Dunno why you feel like traitors should be honored or why racists should be honored but that says a lot. And if the hillbillies want to start another civil war, especially over something like this, we'll wipe them from places of honor after they get their ass kicked, again.

I think the most insidious legacy Trump has left is nurturing the nucleus of racial hatred that simmers in the less savoury aspects of society. It's dreadful to think that there are those who try to justify a white supremacist agenda by living within a warren of lies and half truths. Why can't they just outright say 'I'm a racist, and non-white lives don't matter.'

But momentum is with those who want equality, and it's unstoppable. Trump may have given false hope to white supremacists, but they're a spent force who are gonna be shovelled back on the midden heap where they belong.

And 'Set as Foe' is your friend. Why give a voice to those whose views have no place in the enlightened world? Engaging them does nothing. I've yet to see one repent and change their ways.

I could, but nahhh... This is more entertaining. Besides, it is my civic duty to rebuke and refute them and everything they stand for.

I gave 6 years to my country. I believed then in what the US was and could be, and I still believe we can be better than this guy or that apprentice grocery sacker dude and all the rest. In the end, they will always lose as they always have. But we have to fight back.
