X4 and AP Patch 3.2
Yes, I quite excited about this, I will of course get to work on comparability immediately as the patch is out.iniochos wrote:I wander what upgrades will bring the... following:![]()

And I do hope x4 comes out sooner than later. We will turn it into a true Star Wars sandbox game.

Flight and realism
Many people say Star Wars flight model is unrealistic, that ships maneuvering in space like WW2 fighter aircraft is bs.
I'll beg to differ here!
With all the amazing technology in Star Wars why would their fighters be using our "Earth" primitive tech for thrust and control??
There is at least one technology in Star Wars that could assist a fighter in almost immediate change in direction to a degree that the pilots body doesn't turn into mush from over extreme G.
This tech is not in just ships but all sorts of things.
This tech is called Repulsorlift.
So how does this help a fighter maneuver?
When a ship tries to leave a planets gravity field the "Repulsorlift" is running on "Active" constantly generating its own field to repulse the planes gravity, once the ship is in space the "Drive" goes into passive mode, meaning, it will let off a short concentrated burst pushing the ship in the direction needed, the power for these bursts is stored in the drives power compositor, (power couplings should be replaced regularly do to high energy charges)
The ships engines, in most cases ion engines, provide constant power and are used in combination with the Repulsorlift for maneuvering, this allows the ship to make very tight turns in result looks like ww2 fighters maneuvering.
So for epic dog-fighting I do hope they(egosoft) will implement this type of assisted maneuvering with the option of deactivating it for your drifting and pointing in any direction "realism" which I personally will never use.
This is one of the most important factors that make a game fun, the epic dogfights, as in games like "Tie Fighter" "Freespace" "Freelancer" and so on
Who is with me on this?
On another note
Managed to crawl to my computer, to keep you guys excited Ill post a few pics of what will be new or changed in 0.89/9
So a little about everything.
Whats new?
The T-Class Heavy shuttle/Freighter

Half the size of BFF1 Freighter and less than half cargo capacity however heavily armed and armored, for transportation of high value goods.
Personally I think it looks like a turtle
and you guys know how much i hate it when they make ships look like some animal, bug or fish.
Whats changed
Model updates specifically the "Rogue One" models.
E.g. the U-Wing, Ive throw mine in the trash since this one became available, same with the Tie Striker

And I revisited some old ships and improved them by about 20-40%

I have two ships (Lucrehulk and the Legacy-Class) to finish before the next release, they will take a while.

This "argument" is very old.
It is at least ironic to say that in the future with ships to travel from one point of space to another, using the technology that exists, but there is no technology for ships to make maneuvers in space.
Out of the blue they remembered "inertia".
Anyway, I agree with you.

Anyone who speaks of realism in X3 can only think of it as a joke. It's pure fantasy. Let us have fun.

Get well soon, mik!
suggstions
- I wouldnt like the idea of turning the victory in a m7m, rather add an extra ship for the m7m slot?
- I somehow like the old tie striker model a bit more as well.
- The new cargo ship looks great imo, and what do you mean with the change on the corellian corvette?
- I just finished my imperial odysee (still havent figuered how to start any plots there, even when i followed all the guides how start encounter them)
- do you know this website? http://fractalsponge.net/3D%20Projects.htm (prolly you can grab some ideas for new ships - my suggests would be:
bugs I discovered:
GR-75 ship is impossible fo flight from cockpit, it shows from all positions only the inlay model (no space) like flying blind.

procursator as a new m7m?
altor class as tm?
even secutor could fit in one of these roles in my opinion
Spoiler
Show
any tipps where i can find the cr-90 corellian LUXURY edition? Since its in the ship list but cannot find any shipyard selling it

I have a patch for the GR-75.
Copy these TShips to the Star Wars "addon \ types" folder.
If the new version of Star Wars is released, then please delete this patch.
GR-75 Patch deleted
After the patching you have to fly with the GR-75 into another sector. Then the change becomes effective.

The Star Destroyers and Super Star Destroyers shouldn't be M7M, IMO. Missile barrage, possibly (thing has so many tubes that it isn't funny)
They are supposed to have firepower great enough to wipe a continent off a planetary map. Singly.
M0 is the only X equivalent class for them. To strike fear in even the hardiest of foes.

I think what's needed is a good linear kind of ship levelling system, which, I know there's nothing really set, you could go buy any ship if there's enough cash, but for example after scoring some cash in lets say an m4, it's tough to move up to those m7s since theyre so damn expensive, that and my ideal upgrade from a x wing being the blockade runner, yet, I can't find any for sale nearby, only place I find is past aladna hill, you'd think they'd be more common eh?
