I read the first post, but I'd just like to clarify something here:
If I were to have a series of factories split between two (or more?) sectors, would I be able to place a node in each of these sectors and not only have the factories in each sector linked as if I had used a complex connection kit (i.e. as a complex) but also have the wares autonomously transferred across the sectors to produce, for lack of a better term, a 'multi-sector' complex?
Forgive my questions, especially if I've misread or overlooked something, but I'd just like to be certain what I could do with this.

If the sectors are within 5 jumps of a Node, a single Node will be able to manage all the stations & complexes.
Each Node has a sphere of influence of 5 jumps, if the sector has a Adv Sat deployed the Node (or any Node in range) will be able to see & link to all stations/complexes within the sector. So you could have many Nodes covering the same sector. However a station/complex can only be linked to one Node at a time.
Nodes can access other Nodes within a range of 8 jumps and if a ware is set to remote access it will be available.

Ah; seems pretty similar to how I thought. Though each station only connects to one node at any given time, I assume a node could work in a 'relay' of sorts, with one node every 8 jumps until the needed sector is reached and, providing remote access is enabled the ware(s) will be available for use by the complex in the other sector? Brilliant, thanks.Logain Abler wrote:Hi CNiall,

No, you can't daisy chain Nodes together.CNiall wrote:Ah; seems pretty similar to how I thought. Example
Node A linked to Node B. Node C which is within range of Node B but not Node A.
Node A & Node C will not have access to each others wares, both will have access to B.
If Node A can't get the wares from B that's the end of the line, B won't in turn check C for the wares A needs.

Okay; this seems more than good enough without relays or whatever you want to call them; I doubt that I'd have any complexes that needed connecting across sectors outside the range of a node or two anyway and it could even make things too easy -- with enough nodes, you'd end up having all of your factories form some kind of super-complex, so it's probably better to restrict chaining.Logain Abler wrote: No, you can't daisy chain Nodes together.

I have been having some problems with mods / scripts and as such i am going through them one by one to try and find out where i am slipping up.
I noticed something.. strange with FDN, i am not sure if it is normal behaviour, so i appologise in advance if i am missing something.
When i installed FDN i followed this excat process:
1. I ran the SPK file.
In doing this it added 09.cat and 09.dat both sitting on 1kb each
2. I copied the mod files into the x3 directory and renamed them 10.cat and 10.dat
3. I installed the required libaries.
In doing this.. it deleted 09.cat and 09.dat leaving a break in the chain.
Have i missed something ?

They are not useless. They are not only for ships, they are for customwares too. I use Cycrows Salvage Claim Software which is installed by the plugin manager.
