Nice Work, I love it.
Actually I read it often, usually before buying a capital ship.
One point, You are noting Colossus as too plane average.
Actually I found a use where it is specialized (= not average) and "unbeatable"
-> Mass capping of e-g- Xenon L's.
Why: The only M1 with mixed ION-D + MD loadout. Using this you can cap ships with (almost) no effort, MD's bringing the hull down slowly, ION-D's zapping the shields. Also being an M1 it gives you the option to mass-store your "new" ships. Actually I got myself a Colossus for that special purpose, and it took me only about 4 eavenings to fill it with L's to the most part.
(will take me ages to produce 400 shields for them - that's the other fun part)
As for all M1's: as I tend to mass-build stations from time to time, I use them to buy 50 or 70 frighters at a time, ferry them to a boron equipment dock for BPH and to a certain place for jump-drives - then the M1 sits in the middle of the sectors and provides each new station with frighters and holds only a handful (10 or so) M3's for self protection. Could use 2 hercs for that, but 1 M1 is just more conveniant

Don't know if this was covered (couldnt read through all pages).
Stocking up M2's from TS/TP Ships.
I found ferrying with a figter to be a slow pain And couldn't ferry XL Cargo and ejecting lost me items as blind AI TS's flew into it or picked it up!!!!
But i found an easier way.
Dock the TS/TP with the items you want to transfer at the Dock.
Then issue the dock command to the M2 at the same station.
It will then dock and appear on the "landed ships" menu and you can do a direct freight exchange.
I don't know if you can dock a TP and a M2 at the same time (i think you "may" only be able to dock 1 cap ship at a time) but you can always Transfer to a TS from the TP with this method then from the TS to the M2.
Its still faster (and safer) than the other methods

There's an eaven easier way.
I usually have any m3 (M4) jumping in from Gones's, dock it with the new M1/M2/TL and transfer a transporter device
using the transporter, just have your TL with all the goods come in range (5km I think) and beam all the stuff over (takes about 30 seconds) and - viola New Flagship is instantly loaded (including jump-drive and e-cells) -> ready to go.

Well done

I don't know about you, but I think the K is the best OOSD M2. Since the destroyers all have about the same weapons/shield values OOS(Except Phoenix and Python, but one's to slow, the other's missing a weapon and shield slot), the only thing that would stand out OOS is SPEED! And that, the K has.For sector Defense: Ray

You didn't take the K into consideration....... But that was an old post anyway.pjknibbs wrote:I would say it's the opposite. Consider:Tsar_of_Cows wrote:They all handel like a drunken cow on roller scates, even the Python is a slow turning one, but you can pretty well guess their turning from hteir speed. The faster; the more manuverable generally seems to apply in X2.
Phoenix--153 m/s, 4.37%
Titan--max speed 175 m/s, max steering 4%
Odysseus--225 m/s, 3.7%
Ray--234 m/s, 3%
Python--292 m/s, 2.85%
That looks to me like the faster the ships get the less manoeuvrable they are, at least as far as M2 class ships are concerned. (The M1s are pretty similar, I think--I know the Condor is the slowest at 126 m/s, but it has a max rudder of 7.5%!).

me and my brother may have discovered the 2 true uses for a python ! as anti m3-m5 defence , becasue it was guns facing in about every direction or .... them ore interesting use . running away / sltealth missions through xenon / khaak sectors . it has a lot of guns postioned to the rear so any one dare follow it will get enough ppcs in its face to really discover the meaning of pain so its good for doing runs through enemy sectors , especially with its speed
"now the darkenss is falling , they close in upon us like preadators. only he can stand in thier way , only he can possible halt the tide. but he must do it alone. though his body is broken , his spirit shattered love and vengance will spur him on to the battle"

The back turrets are weak.If a kak destroyer(at 300 m/s) gets on your tail, they wont do a scratch to it.MCAA wrote:me and my brother may have discovered the 2 true uses for a python ! as anti m3-m5 defence , becasue it was guns facing in about every direction or .... them ore interesting use . running away / sltealth missions through xenon / khaak sectors . it has a lot of guns postioned to the rear so any one dare follow it will get enough ppcs in its face to really discover the meaning of pain so its good for doing runs through enemy sectors , especially with its speed
The python is useless. It has a good front but to effectively use it you would need better maneuvrability and that actualy is the biggest weakness of the ship.
Too bad it looks so nice

I agree, the weps on the back are pants.tphater wrote:The back turrets are weak.If a kak destroyer(at 300 m/s) gets on your tail, they wont do a scratch to it.MCAA wrote:me and my brother may have discovered the 2 true uses for a python ! as anti m3-m5 defence , becasue it was guns facing in about every direction or .... them ore interesting use . running away / sltealth missions through xenon / khaak sectors . it has a lot of guns postioned to the rear so any one dare follow it will get enough ppcs in its face to really discover the meaning of pain so its good for doing runs through enemy sectors , especially with its speed

But the front is NOT good, it only has 2 forward guns.
So, shamefully, the Python is pants.
hoever, Ive done some playing with the editor and I have made it better

But I have no idea how to compile original mods, so I havent released it...

For a ship THAT fast,i think the front is good enough(even with the lack of a gppc). The only thing it needs is maneuvrability.

Hi,
I have added this guide to my My New and Improved Ultimate Guide to everything and was wondering if this is up to date, with AEGIS and Gunnery Crews and a few other changes that have been made.
I want to get my Guide Stickied like the original was and it needs to have up to date guides listed before it will be.

did no one read the other note ? it was good for killing swaths of enemy fighters becasue it has no blind spots . not as far as i can tell at least

'' Major weakness though, it cannot hit fighters that sit in the indent just below the cockpit, and so can quite easily be destroyed by them. But, the AI havent worked that one out, so take this as a tip for destroying Ks, not necissarily as something to worry about while piloting them. ''
no weakness for me, only fighters can get to the blind spot
and i am quite strafe-happy...
