Hitting the non combatant would put a bounty on your head. That would instantly make you fair game for all other ships.
It's not dumb per se, it's friendly fire. You just need to be more careful when spraying the area with bullets.
Probably not a good idea to let rip with the chain guns in a built up area. Just saying.
That said I've heard that this sort of thing might be addressed in 1.1
[Back in Beta, any sort of turret weapon, even missile defense were a nono because almost without fail a stray shot would hit the station and you'd be toast.]

I am next to a conflict zone, you have medium and high density instances you can enter (like flying to a resource point), when you arrive you have 20 or so ships having at each other (depending on density), most of the missions I have taken ask you to kill X number of the other side.
I do not really like them as in my experience as soon as you engage, the enemy NPC just ignore the other NPC ships and focus on the player ship.

I get the idea but the cop's shield did not even drop by 1% but you are instantly sentenced to death. There should at least be a threshold on the fines before you get fired on, say 600 creds which would avoid most friendly fire instances turning you into a pin cushion.brucewarren wrote:Hitting the non combatant would put a bounty on your head. Just to make sure everyone knows. The 1.1 update has a huge bug (that beta testers identified but FD chose to release any way).
It means even the most minor of collisions or scrape can destroy your ship. If you fly a big ship, don't leave dock until they fix it.
Oh - and they've fixed Point Defence so it now shoots down all missiles. ALL missiles including your own.

Played a little this evening. Power is a real issue on my Asp. Couldn't fit a repair unit and have a working kill scanner no matter what power priorities. Might have to reconsider the beam lasers.
Heat in combat wasn't a problem. Didn't run into anything but I assume from the forums they have fixed collisions. I'm playing solo or möbius until I'm sure though.
The graphics look better.
Shield cells are much less useful and that will make all the PvP types who think whoever has the most expensive ship should win every fight in 30 seconds very happy.
What's needed is more content and way less pandering to PvP.

Yea, quite possibly.pjknibbs wrote:That might be entirely deliberate, given that's the way the ECM system in the original Elite worked.SteveMill wrote: Oh - and they've fixed Point Defence so it now shoots down all missiles. ALL missiles including your own.

Overall I'm finding the changes quite good. NPC's are more of a threat, shield cells require careful timing and having to keep an eye on heat gives a little more to think about.
ED still has a way to go before it reaches what I'd ideally accept as Release State but at each stage of development it works.
Going to be interesting seeing how the grouping expansions go. Having laboured through Elder Scrolls Online and its 'you can group when WE say, with whom WE say and when and only when WE say' instanced approach I'm not hopeful.
Given that trading is a more solo activity I expect encountering wings of pirates will drive more people out of Open.

One of the good things in the new update is the better route planner - makes things a lot easier. I didn't experience any of the bugs while playing yesterday before or after the mini update. Also I noticed that you can have your different levels painted on the side of your ship if you so desired.
Still in the Cobra and wondering whether the upgrade to a Asp is worth it for my style of play. I really want to go and do some exploring but I it will be a tight squeeze in the Cobra - with a Adv Scanner, detailed Scanner, decent fuel scoop and auto-repair unit installed.

Not played much since release, but I thought I would play some tonight. I have to say, ****, ****, ****, ****, ******* interdictions, I'm just so pissed off with them. Every other ******* minute it's another ******* interdiction, just had an interdiction, here have another interdiction. 100.000ls out in space, travelling at 400c, have an interdiction. ******* interdiction after ******* interdiction, no matter what you are trying to do another ******* interdiction just to piss you off. What's with the damage from them, I mean 9% damage from an interdiction, what the **** is that for. I just logged off as I was just so pissed off with ******* interdictions they totally ruin the game.

Wait a minute, are you trying to say that you don't like interdictions?

I was indicted twice, this morning about 10 times. It's not as I have anything to pirate as I haven't any cargo space. Seems a little silly, I think they've turned the rate up a bit too much.
