well there is people that seems to be fanbois of mediocre services. but oh well (no disrespect intented).
last week was: "it is not the end of the world its just a few days"
this week is: it is not the end of the world is just another week"
i wonder what is going to be next week.
the fact is there is only 1 person, dealing with the patches at steam. and there is hundreds of people waiting for this guy to come back and do the work he is being paid for.
i am sorry but i feel better when i just say what i think. is it considered throlling to complain? and to discuss things that actually affect players?.
i am sorry but i am not used to be conformist, i always expect better. or at least what people should be getting for the money they paid.
i do apologize if my comments are unconfortable for some and if some of then might discorage people from doing business with steam, but in my humble opinion they deserve it.
CBJ we are just having a respectfull discussion, and noone is being disrespected. that is what a DISCUSSION BOARD is all about right?

Just in case you missed it Palm911:
You can follow that link and take matters into your own hands. Or you can wait. Complaining will not hasten things either way. Please, please just stop now.
Palm911, you've made your point - many times now - and it's starting to feel like spam on these of all forums...Targ Collective wrote:The chronically impatient who just can't stand waiting until next Monday might want to check this link. Otherwise I advise y'all moan on the Steam forums instead of cluttering things here. Quite apart from anything else, the Steam bods who might actually be able to do something don't actually check these forums...

Steam service
Regarding Steam's service standards;
I have just raised a query with my credit card provider, Steam are not providing what we entered into a contract with them to provide. This transaction is covered by laws pertaining to retailing in your jurisdiction, I purchased via steam as I was in North America at the time of release. My credit card company have refunded the charges and will pursue Steam for not fulfilling their side of the contract. I urge anyone who feels that Steam has let them down to do the same. I will be buying the retail boxed set as it is now released. Congratulations on a great game and thanks to everyone involved in making it happen.

Ooooookkkkkkkk ... time up. If people want to vent, I guess now they finally earn the right to.
Up until this point I had always been saying for the last few days that the people complaining are being unreasonable and ... ahem ... annoying. Strictly business speaking if Steam is not obligated to release the patch untill today, they have no reason to do so regardless of the external circumstance.
Now though, the deadline is breached, so again, strictly business speaking Steam&Egosoft is under the obligation to provide the promised delivery, if under any circumstance the delivery is compromised you guys either have to simply find a way to make it happen ... or provide compensation. I don't know, maybe work out an extra deal with with Steam, have their technician work over time ...etc... Of course, I'm not expecting you guys to do that, it's not really worth it anyway. To be frank, if I'm Egosoft or Steam, I probably gonna follow the same procedure but ....
I think the only thing you can do at this point is make sure people don't start flaming each other, if they can keep it civilized like I said, you will just have to sit and take the heat, they earnt the right to do so. Other than that your only option would be to ban the discussion from the board altogether, you wouldn't do that, right?
I wasn't taking Steam's side last week when I was argue against people's complain, and this doesn't mean I'm taking the side of the Steam user now. Frankly it doesn't matter to me if it's really next week, I can wait and I'm certainly not angry at Steam or Egosoft. But objectively speaking, I fully understand and accept other Steam user reaction, and I hope you do too. And by that, I mean no "but"
Oh I'm not a fan of anything, I just want to be objective. Last week I told you that your complain is unfounded, unreasonable, and prematured. This week, I say you can complain all you want, you're given the right to so now.

... that brings me to the next point, unless you go the extra mine and do that, I'm afraid both Egosoft and Steam will just have to sit here and take the heat. At this point, again, strictly under business obligation, steam users had earnt the right to complain, it's not something you can say right or wrong, you just simply have to accept. Also on your part (Egosoft&Steam), I think any reason or excuse provided can be rightfully disregarded, regardless of it being valid or not. It's the samething for any business really.CBJ wrote: This witch-hunt to try to find someone to pin the blame on is silly and pointless. Well that depends. Apparently there was a bug sneaked into the 2.0 release. If Steam had to reschedule to take into account updating the patch to include the 2.0a fix then that isn't Steams fault.Mightysword wrote:Oh I'm not a fan of anything, I just want to be objective. I guess now we should break out the pitchforks and torches and start blaming Egosoft for delaying the patch as it's all their fault for missing a small bug. Burn them I say! Burn them with fire!

this is a big lol - medium class programmer could add wrapper in the exe for the steam its 10 minutes to add/remove it ...FellFromLog wrote:Check out Blue's News: http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board. ... adid=97229 the hotfix must have reached Steam after the guy in charge of patching had already left. That's why it's delayed.

Complaining is not considered trolling, no. But you haven't just complained once, you have made numerous posts saying effectively the same thing. Everybody knows what your opinion is. Repeating it again and again does not constitute a discussion.palm911 wrote:i am sorry but i feel better when i just say what i think. is it considered throlling to complain? and to discuss things that actually affect players?.
I beg to differ. You have repeatedly cast aspersions on the integrity of Egosoft staff, and you have accused anyone who disagrees with you of being "fanbois" - in the very same post that you claimed no-one was being disrespected, no less!palm911 wrote:CBJ we are just having a respectfull discussion, and noone is being disrespected.
You don't see this thread being locked, do you? Or any threat to do so? We are as frustrated by the delay as the players are and have no problem in allowing people to "vent". However, in addition to preventing people from abusing one another, we will also prevent them from abusing the freedom to vent by monopolising the discussion.Mightysword wrote:I think the only thing you can do at this point is make sure people don't start flaming each other, if they can keep it civilized like I said, you will just have to sit and take the heat, they earnt the right to do so. Dear Lord, the whining by some people on this thread. It's as if your government bail-out money was being held back or something.
Egosoft made a borked 2.0 patch that they supplied to Steam. Now they have an update, and that update has to go through all the usual rigamarole for testing etc again. That takes time. Imagine the outcry if Steam released a patch that broke people's games and required them to delete and re-download? This entire forum would catch on fire.
Couple that with the fact that it's Easter Friday this Friday and (fairly likely) even the people at Steam will be on vacation. (Apparently the Sacred 2 patch is also on hold until next week because the one guy who could implement the patch is on vacation.)
That sucks, yes, but it's not the end of the world. Go play something else. Play 1.4. Get your requirements sorted so that when 2.0 hits, you can play the Aldrin Missions straight off the bat.
I admit I was pretty pissed myself when 1.2 (I think?) was delayed, because it contained the fix for the slowdown-over-time bug that made the game UNPLAYABLE. This is just a content update, it's not going to kill you to wait a few days for it. Without Steam you wouldn't have even been playing this game until LAST WEEK.
Get some perspective.
I especially love how the biggest complainer has no registration code.

I would like to see all the bitchers and moaners hold themselves up to the same standards that they are holding up to Steam.
When some one wants you to to something for them, you must do it immediately.
Now 20 people want you to do something, good luck suckers living up to those standards.
Try to have a thought or Idea that doesn't use "I" or "Me". Try it for 15 min.
