Hmm, I am pretty sure the specific release date the Egosoft guy with two arms and a face mentioned was one of:

a. When it is ready TM.

b. Soon TM (ish).

c. In 2013.

Well if it isnt this year,X rebirth sales will be very low,as SC and Elite Dangerous will be out nxt year and will have a dramatic effect on X rebirth sales.Egosoft do yourselves a favor release it this year

This is probably a game I've been waiting on the longest. Can't believe its not out yet. Hope it lives up to the wait. And I hope my comp can run it.

This is like saying Skyrim was released in 2011 so no one bought any other open world fantasy game in 2011. Its just not how things are, if X-Rebirth is a worth while game to purchase it will be worth while even if other games of a similar nature are released, now you may have a point if you said that someone will play all three and choose one that they consider the best to replay again and again in the future but this will not effect initial sales to the extent you presume. In this case it is up to Ego to make their game the best of the three so in years to come it is the one people come back and play and recommend to their friends.

not really, I explain why. I'm following hard Star Citizen, I'm pretty sure the game won't be out before 2015. Yes, they said 2014, but in some interviews Chris Roberts has spoken in this way "well, late 2014...or early 2015".
We tragically know that if something may delay, certainly delay

Egosoft should choice carefully release date, I think the game will sell VERY GOOD, because a lot of people want space sim at this time. A lot of Star Citizen will buy just like "appetizer" for Chris Robert's game.

I was spoken about sales figures, no competition in this case, only a benefit to have new space sim in the market, for everyone. X:Rebirth will be "driven" from other space sim release.

I'm not convinced its that important. Just how many people bought X3:TC on the release date? I suspect it's less than half the total sales. This isn't a triple-A, super hyped game where they try to get as many people to buy in the first few weeks.
