To be fair to Trump the following tweet is a masterpiece.
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/sta ... 1403900928
I'd characterise this as a rare bit of praise if I wasn't all but certain he posted it entirely straight faced.
It's f***ing hilarious.

Oh, he went on and on about "people call them canines, I call them dogs" in his hour long announcement of the ISIS leader kill. I think it's his first time ever being exposed to a dog in some fashion. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't turn the dog into a PR stunt and order it to be retired and delivered to him for a pet.Bishop149 wrote: ↑Tue, 29. Normally those dogs are not given a pets life, they are trained killers and cannot be untrained, so normally they are euthanised when they are retired. So giving one of them to Trump would be a perfect idea, we can all sit back and watch the outcome, making America great again.

Re: Trump
They kill these dogs? I was under the impression that one could even adopt a retired militairy or police dog. And I though they were trained to search and eliminate targets and mostly obey orders and not just to kill.felter wrote: ↑Tue, 29. It's fine if you don't like Trump, but to insinuate giving him a dog that will shred him to pieces and kill him as a joke, is pretty low. And lame.
I see so many of these 'jokes' about Trump everywhere on the internet and these jokes aren't made to make people laugh, but just for the likes and to say "Look at me. I hate Trump, so I'm a good person."

I seem to remember reading somewhere that members of the team that these dogs are part of, can adopt them when the dog is retired.

These service animals are given full enlistments and ranks; I know they're very well cared for. It's rare they're euthanized, usually a result of severe injury or psychotic breaks.
I know there's a lot of effort they go through to bond the dogs with their handlers. I believe the dogs even live with their handlers as well when they're state side. There's a lot more that goes into the relationship between the handler and dog than just knowing the dog's commands. Like one handler wouldn't easily be able to just go into combat with another's dog, even if they were trained with the same commands. Dogs tend to get really stressed if there isn't stability and familiarity, so they're more apt to stick with just 1 person.

Mocking the dead scumbag here is one angle and radical islam not being favorable to dogs is another. It's inflicting a wound and dumping salt in it. Reminds me of an account back during the initial special forces operations in Afghanistan. I wish I remembered what book it was from. One of the leaders of the northern alliance got on the radio and made sure the taliban knew the AC130 gunship killing their guys was crewed by a woman. "I will call her the angel of death!" Infuriated them to have their guys killed by a woman. Similar thing here is my guess.Bishop149 wrote: ↑Tue, 29. Oct 19, 10:06 To be fair to Trump the following tweet is a masterpiece.

I suppose that might be the play, but I somewhat doubt ISIS is a key demographic targeted by Trumps Twitter feed.Masterbagger wrote: ↑Thu, 31. Oct 19, 05:24

I think the more likely thing at the forefront of Trumps mind was: "People like dogs right? People like we killed the guy, right? So why not do both?!". . . . . to which my answer would be: Because it looks silly Donald.
In a further development, he also took an image of himself giving the dog a medal that was photoshopped up by the Daily Wire and posted it himself. Oh and he didn't even credit the source. . . . until much later. probably after a lawyer had a word.
Satire is well and truly dead. . . its just the life we all live now.
Attack dogs (that actually doubled as explosive sniffer dogs, same breed as the dog Trump lauded) formed part of the security at the the MOD base upon which I used to work.
Those were absolutely euthanized at the end of their service life, the reason being they were trained to kill, to bite for the throat rather than the limbs.
They were essentially deadly weapons and here in the UK we generally don't allow those within civilian society.
But given the US's obviously different stance on that topic perhaps this is not true of US military attack dogs.

I remember that. It also pissed off (some) people here (in US) who think women cant be in combat roles in the army.
Good story though indeed.

It won't surprise you to know that I am no expert in psy-ops, but I wonder what the calculus is that results in the taunting of a (apparently beaten already, yay!) small subsect being more valuable / effective / productive / whatever than offending an entire religion with a billion plus followers?Masterbagger wrote: ↑Thu, 31. Re: Trump
There's no math to it. In fact, it's rather simple. Trolling an individual or an entire population is all the same to the "stable genius" crowd. Any opportunity to belittle someone for their faith, sexual preference, race, gender, financial status... you name it, they'll do it and say they're proud of it, all in the name of patriotism or their supposed "christian" values.RegisterMe wrote: ↑Fri, 1. Attacking an actual patriot and war-vet in name of a draft-dodging privileged old fart, sounds like business as usual for the US to me.
