Ahh ok so pads are random, Thx all, landed and got the Eagle so off to kill wanted!

Docking tip: Once you're in the bay your compass (the little navigation target indicator to the top left of the scanner) will point at the docking bay you've been assigned. So even if it's not lit up for whatever reason, you can still find the right one to go to using it.

Nope. In my experience they tend to be at -
1) The really big stations and 2) The unsanctioned outposts. But that's the best I've come up with.

Docking is easy not a problem there, it is a bug with certain platform 13's that stops you landing.

30 kills and made mostly harmless!

Shame there is not an easier way to find wanted people than cruising around looking for 'unidentified signals' or extraction platforms with a gazillion cops hitting you like flies on a light bulb!

Keep visiting uss. Eventually a trader will give you a clue in a comm. something about a close escape in a system. Them try a couple of uss and you'll have your man.

I was intercepted by a Python master last night, and he was rather obnoxious. I think he said something like..."Give me your cargo FOOL!"
Well...I didn't... but it leads me to some thoughts I've been having here...
I'm at the stage where I can purchase a Type 7, and upgrade it a bit with also some spare cash to cover insurance.
I WAS going to buy the Imperial Clipper, but seeing's as how my rep. with the Empire is not very high it's going to take some time before I can obtain one.

So buy a Type 7.. or keep grinding away at trade for a Python in my Asp?
What do you think?

So trade is still alien to me, only just got my Cobra, is it basically you buy from high tech and sell to agriculture worlds?

I flew a Type 7 for about 5 hours and then went back to the Asp.

Two reasons - first - heat management is a real pain. You can practically blow yourself up by going into warp after boosting and fuel scooping is right out.

Second - even class a shields are weak. I triumphed in a couple of interdictions and got intercepted by a Viper. Was doing fine and had him down to 26% hull. Then I lost him for a few seconds doing an FA Off turn.

My shield and most of my hull was gone in five seconds flat.

The only thing it has going for it is cargo space. I had been planning t trade up to a python more quickly than I'm managing.

But this experience made me realise I'm just not a good enough pilot to take on a good AI viper pilot in this slow and vulnerable brick.

On the other hand it's a long road to a python if you trade in an Asp.

Your best bet is to Trade in Rares. Here's a good little route to start.

You probably know already but Rares are those Yellow items. Their value is based on how far you take them. With a good jump range and a cobra with good drive you'll make a million at least every couple of hours. That's how I got to my Asp fairly quickly.

Mount good exploration scanners as you'll go through a lot of Undiscovered places.

I jumped into a system last night on my way back from 'Atlantis' in the Empire region...LHS 1547 A (I think), nearly got burnt to a b****y crisp!
Just managed to find the vector icon out, but suffered some heat damage.
The system is populated, but all I can say is the people there must all have perfect tan's. Another lesson learnt...check system if possible before jumping in to it. I think it 's a collapsed star or something along those lines.

Hmm...certainly wouldn't have survived in a Type 7 probably.
Okay..Seems like I'll be trading hard in my Asp today then.

Steve, that looks like a good route, I had a look at something similar yesterday, I think just need to upgrade a bit more, a bit limited cargo in Cobra and my range is that good either. Currently trading metals and getting roughly 50kcr per return trip and seems I can do (as per last night's half hour ) about two return trips per half hour.

I have about 3 routes and pretty soon you know how to pick and choose between them. Often it's worth selling goods for less optimal prices just to free room for new goods.

My current route is a 5 stage 71 stop epic. It's probably not efficient but it gets me out and about the galaxy. I pick up a lot of extra cash from bounties and exploration along the way.

My Asp has a 23 LY range and is well enough armed for me to feel okay about doing it in Open. It's only in a few systems I feel threatened but pirate types know that you need to be in a Python before you can feel okay about taking on an Asp.

And if I see a player Python I fly evasively to be safe. It's hard to interdict a player if they make it difficult.

If there's no players around I'll fly normally just to attract interdictions.

'Hull to heavy for shield generator'

So I want to upgrade the shield gen on my cobra but it will not let me and I just get the above message?

anyone know why?

What class is it? As in what's the number associated with it as opposed to the quality letter.

The error message really means the generator is too small for the ship.

The cobra takes a size 4 generator. Anything smaller won't do. Not even if it's an A.

This is a common mistake made by the less experienced when it comes to fitting equipment.

People make the same mistake with FSD upgrades. They replace a 4E drive with a 3A and wonder why the range has dropped to about 3 feet.

I believe the popular phrase is "you've just put a world class lawnmower engine in your 4x4"

Sounds like you might be looking at the wrong class of generator?

Not all stations supply the higher classes.

I have learned to hate this game, dead and 100k in bounties gone because a cop flew right in front of me (2 ft) as I finished off a crook and then everyone killed me, which is about as dumb as it gets.
