In the end, I gave it a go at the weekend in a new 1.30 plot game.

There was a pop-up at the start saying something like "Complete the plot to get the most out of Real War" so I guess that answers our questions.

I've not finished the plot yet (just received the construction ship) and they don't seem to be at Real War just yet.

This is what is causing the bloated saves and eventual crashes I think. Can you report it Escaflow? Improved Drones mod is not doing anything either, drones are not returning to ships.
I'm having the same issue in Twilight Sentinal (TS) (I have not seen it elsewhere yet, but it's a recent occurrence for me), I do not have Captain and Defense Officer AI Overhaul installed (never have). This game was started with 1.30 RC3 and is now on 1.30. I am still early in the Plot (just came back to DeVries from Berylls after meeting the Berylls agent during the Alliance mission arc).

Save Game

I did not see the crosses last I was in TS and destroyed three Light Sul's from PMC. I left (being OOS) for a while, and removed all but one my ships, leaving a damaged Light Sul that I didn't have crew for. When I came back (about 1.5 real-time hours later), I found two Warden Carriers and one Warden Destroyer and two nice big crosses of drones. My saves are currently at 32 MB after 3d00h31m of play time.

I should add, now that I've noticed and if in case it helps, that all of the drones in the cross formation are owned by Ren Otani (me).

I think the drone spam is being caused by UFO, but can't be certain.

I had over a thousand combat drones in space, not quite forming an x, but still unwarranted, in Auspicious Excavation.

I have a Cell Recharger there and the DO was given the UFO stance to attack enemies within 20km.

The station didn't have any drones, but 2 of the Capitals I'd assigned to him did.

Are sets of drones dropped in response to all those red-flagged, Consumer Compact Vehicles?

I’m not sure how drone scripts tend to work by I guess those ships re-dock if they are not destroyed. If they dock rather than die (as Raiding Party/Xenon ships eventually would), might it be confusing a script somewhere?

It doesn't have anything to do with UFO. I am not using UFO.

IRaven, I am trying out that drone kill script you said would destroy the drones but it doesn't appear to be working. At least I haven't seen any messages and all the drones are still there in a massive cross formation. Is it because the drones belong to me?

Well, tonight i tried RealWar with only MCE mod.

first of all, RealWar causes some nasty lags because of complex changes (or something else, i don't relly know)

The mist added in Steady Mole (fresh start) is an example. When contacting someone, (head on monitor) the game is not smooth anymore (onyl this mod causes that).

next sector in Gemstone, Arawn construction made by HoA was in stand by (not the Fedhelm, next to it).

i went to auspicious excavation, waited 3 hours, then moved to bleak pebble. Nothing in this sytem. In Darned hot air, a sucellus was under stalled contruction too.
nothing else than Mining ship out there (in devries).

Because i didn't saw any combat, i didn't saw any drones too.

the idea of a Galaxy War is an excellent idea. but i don't know if we must restrict it in one system, nor changing/moving resources somewhere else for conveniency (the idea would be protect mining operation in this sector)

I liked (a lot) X3-AP XRM because of this gigantic war with everyone (Xenon included) and those party-sectors like core023, Omicron or Black hole sun. Even if i had a Valhalla, 3 Atlas and others M2/m7, i had to use fine strategy to keep them alive against Xenon. It was very exciting.


This mod should absolutely be optimized, it's a tiny XRM on his own, and it adds a "goal" to the end-game.
But today, i can't enable it.

The log shows many errors too.

Anyone know if the drone problem has been fixed yet?
I'm thinking of using this mod but I already have slight problems with fps due to my old-ish pc.

Also does this mod help the economy? Plus so it doesn't come to a standstill after so and so many hours?

Lastly, is there still work being done on this mod and does it work on Free play?

First of all. Thx for making this mod. I'm only a couple of hours into it so there's not much action yet but I encountered some nice stuff already which makes me believe this is going to get interesting.

Some small issues:

-Gemstone manufacture is still owned by Plutarch(law enforcement not stations). I found this in zones.xml:
<identification name="{20005,32}" owner="heartofalbion" />
shouldn't that be owner="faction.heartofalbion"?

-Gemstone Manufacture is also very laggy probably due to the added ressources(it was busy before already)

-Lavaflow has a lot of clipping issues with the nebula

I'm just using this mod and ego's 1.31 Beta.

Question: Can you give me a hint on how to revert the ressource changes back to vanilla? Will it suffice to just remove the region_definitions.xml and repack the cat? Or is there something else in there required for the mod to work? I'm really a noob at this.

My system just can't handle Gemstone Manufacture as is anymore and my eyes have trouble with Lava Flow which is is an important system in my game which I visit often. Also I'd kinda like the idea of lots of Mining vessels dying in a warzone. Zones without ressources what are they contested for anyway?:P

I agree, Gemstone Manufacture is a bloody mess for me. If I go there with all the fog, plus the rocks, and now more than 50 ships in the system it is impossible to do anything with out the game bombing a short time after entering.

I would imagine this will need some updating for version 2.0. New ships, new ai, etc.

doing a fan update of a mod is not allways a ''good" thing , some modder like the idea and others do not.

I did do some patches to realspaces mods , but he clearly said he did not mind in one of his posts.

plus Iraven at somepoint said that he wont give up on X , RL does have a tendancy to ruin X....silly RL.

hope I did not sound rude or anything

Seemingly no.

Im not asking a "fan update" as much a "fan patch" - just make it work, leave the grand design to the modder.

Alltho "as a consumer" i dont mind having options and fan-updates may give good ideas or live out as one version of the mod... Or die out when no longer needed.

Point being. Now that we can use our fleets, we need this, bad!

I did not mean it like that.
I was saying that becose on some games I have seen massive arguments over things like that , but it does seem that Iraven is a good guy/gal so I dont think it would be an issue but just saying also be ready for the worst

Thats unfortunate, this mod looked really promising, especially mixed with privata's mod more enemies , oh well hopefully he/she will return or someone will pick it up :)
