To be fair, ES has hosted the XTM mod for Reunion And according to Berndt's statement, they would do the same with other big mods as well..

So don't look too much into this, since my 'top secret hint' is: XTC has no relation to TNBT as far as we are aware

Picked this up fromn the main X forum.

As with any company, (assuming Ego doesn't get bought out) you stick with what you're good at and what works, so..

It will be a space-sim (because it's Ego's niche market)
It will be massively mod-able (because Bernt sent a clear message a couple of months ago that Ego values the modding community)
It will be multi-core (because most PC's these days are and X3TC has pushed single core to its limits)
It will be graphically superb (because all of the X-series has been)
It will have a strong trading element (because many X-fans enjoy the strategy element)
It will be buggy (because Ego are a small company and when X2, X3R, X3TC came out they were as buggy as hell until they were patched)
It will be a sandbox game (because that's what gives the game its longevity).
It will look to cater for both as a FPS and as a civ-style strategy game (because as the X-series has developed that's what it's increasingly tried to do).
It will be released late this year (just in time for Chrimbo)

It won't have anything to do with the X-Series storyline (because TC finished the story)
It won't be MMORG (because Ego don't have Blizzard's capital and if you want a MMORG space game, go play Eve).

It will be on my shopping list.

Why does it have to be a space sim?

Why can't it be some kind of game where you are looking out from the perspective of a character and all you can see is his hands and maybe a gun and the aim of the game is to run around and kill your friends with the gun?

That sounds like it could be a lot of fun.



I can't really imagine the next installment of Egofun will be anything other than a space based trading simulation with a combat element and in some way tied to the 6 main races of the current x universe. It's what we want and what they're good at so why change it?

I think that Egosofts Next Big Thing will be about a race of transdimensional entities that split into two opposing factions called the Viator, and the Daemon. The war they fight spans throughout time and space, each skirmish causing ripples throughout reality that threatens the very structure of the lower physical planes. Eventually a lone Daemon manages to destabilize and warp physical reality into a twisted aethyr that becomes the battle ground with the collective Oversoul of humanity caught in the cosmic crossfire.

It will be up to the player who takes the role of The Watcher, a veritable demigod who has watched over humanity since it's creation. The mission of The Watcher will be to traverse the higher planes of existence in an effort to cease the war between these two factions that will eventually destroy everything.

It will be called "Fantas Finally" and will be about some guy with big spikey hair and a big sword that can be customised running around fighting spirits and deciphering a weird language. He will accumulate friends, and will ride a big yellow bird. There will be lots of places to visit and a bad guy that uses machines which end up being out of control.

Mmmmm. Let's see, Pizza idea, Gerbil idea, Pizza idea, Gerbil idea, Euuuurrreeeka, I got it. TNBT will be a game of pizza eating Gerbils.

Don't know why but everytime I read "TNBT" I think of "TMNT", it's probably just the similar letters, but who knows, may be I'm some kind of psychic. So couple that with the pizza idea, and the fact that gerbils are similar to rats, and what you got?

Masters of Orion 2 + Sins of a Solar empire + X3TC with improve AI

Basically X3TC with upgraded AI, research, building, owing planets and systems, waring with other races, make allies, defend systems, invade systems, fleet battles with X3TC style graphics, better jumpgates so that more than 1 cap ship can enter the system at a time...

Dont know about Egosoft, but that would be a NBT for me. Oh and optional multiplayer, but got to be optional as I prefer box games with challenge being from AI, which I find most others disagrees with me

One thing I wonder is if TNBT will be more focused on the strategy element - like empire leading and so forth - or the low-level hands-on approach (fights just between you and enemy scouts, first-person piloting etc.).
