I apologize for delay in responding to questions.
FYI: There is no further work planned at this time for Transcend X3-R.
Currently, work is underway on a new mod which will be released under the X3-TC platform. This new mod is titled "Ascension". It will be a "grand unified" mod consisting of previous Transcend I and II in addition to what was going to be Transcend III and IV all in a single major mod. Details will be released as they become available.
I can say that there will be some very intriguing developments in this continuing "story" - including time-travel, multiple galaxies, and a major new threat of galactic infestation in addition to other interesting challenges.
Suffice to say that Ascension will contain more of the sort of innovation that has always been the hallmark of our activities as we continue pushing the limits of X3 modding.

Transcend II textfile impact on Transcend 1 3.01b
I know that Observe reckons that we should go straight into Transcend II and not bother with Transcend I, but the version 3.01b is supposed to be mission director compatible with II 1.01 so I thought I would give the first mod a go.
The problem I found after much confused play is that the Transcend I English download bundles mission director file Test 0.1 Beta dated 2/2/08 with the t/443247 1.0 text file in the Mod dat file that also appears in the Transcend II bundle. (No, I have not mixed up or overwritten bits of the two mods - I have checked the downloaded rar file content separately from II since noticing the problem!)
The two bits in the bundle are incompatible in several important plot situations right from the start and the plot in Transcend I 3.01b is broken by not asking important questions and giving wrong text such that you cannot take command and assemble the fleet or accept the sub-missions. I think the text file has been updated to meet a new director file at some stage, but the earlier mission director file has been put or left in the download rar package. I don't know if other language versions have a similar problem.
I know this is a late post and on a probably no-longer supported mod version but I am amazed that no-one else has remarked on this. I think it just needs the correct Transcend I mission director file to work. Can anyone help?

Yep. I see the problem. Made a run in Transcend I and got messages from Transcend II. Its got the wrong 443247 file inside of the Transcend I mod. I just extracted the 443247 file and verified its the wrong one. Let me post on our other site and we'll get it rectified as quickly as possible.

Thanks for bringing this to attention Treelor! I'll pass the info along to the team and we'll take a look at it.Treelor wrote:I seem to have stumbled upon a game-breaker. Every time I try to jump into Apus Major, X3 CTD's with "File not found" as the error message. I've tried redownloading, doesn't work. Going from a fresh 1.01c.

Alright, thanks
I've fudged up my X3 install through the myriad of mods and whatnot that I had installed, so I just wiped it and I'm letting steam download it again.
Yes, that might be worth mentioning - I'm running the Steam version of X3. Dunno if there's any differences in the file structure, but XTM and whatnot seems to run just fine.

Shouldn't be any problem with Transcend II either.Treelor wrote:...Yes, that might be worth mentioning - I'm running the Steam version of X3. Dunno if there's any differences in the file structure, but XTM and whatnot seems to run just fine.

As I've mentioned, most of our current activities are going into future mods for TC, but in this case we definitely want to fix the issue you are having.

When the reinstall is done, I'll let you know if there's any change. I also wasn't getting any messages after I changed my name to Thereshallbewings except for the very first one on the standard Transcend II start. Hopefully a reinstall will fix this.
If it does, I'll be sure to post here so that I can save you and your team undue stress
Edit: Reinstall works. I suppose one of my scripts was overwriting the file it was looking for.
