Works fine for me.
There are two available sites from the links, and there is a known problem with one of them for certain browsers/isp's or something. I can only use the second one for some reason.

So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's b****r all down here on Earth.

All,
Just to let you know I am moving house and will be without internet access for a week or two.
As a result the next release of sector planner will be delayed until after I have got my life in order!
Cheers

<edit>This also means that the email address for getting the latest version of Sector Planner will no longer work</edit>

i have a request... currently we can see the aggregate supply/demand for goods within a certain radius, however I would like to know the galaxy-wide grand total supply/demand for all goods - with mk3 traders etc. this becomes an issue.
not saying it needs to go into the sector planner, mind, but seen as how you have all the info in a sensible format anyway, I (and many many others) would appreciate knowing this

Personally, I love the concept of this thing, and I really appreciate the skill and time expended on making it. I'm forced to wonder, though, why .NET ?
I mean, the Planner is less than 300K. .NET redistributables are 23 Meg.
Was it just a case of writing the ap in something you already knew, or is there some other compelling reason to use it?
Just an idle query from a fossil who still thinks a megabyte is a large unit.

OK, i'm no expert, i just dabble a bit in programing, but my understanding is that the latest version of most programing languages are .NET versions, and need .NET installed to run, it'll soon become a standard, the world is just moving on.cybes wrote:Personally, I love the concept of this thing, and I really appreciate the skill and time expended on making it. But that to me doesn't make any sense. If I had a closed loop with SDS, I'm using SDS ships to "buy" and "sell" goods albeit in an automated way rite?Darkhold wrote:It is for closed loops in order to calculate what you're really making if you're producing some of your supply for free.
I didn't think it was very useful before but now with SDS software it works well.
Eg if I had a sun oil, flower farm and spp loop, I'd set the sun oil to buy flowers at 11 and ecells at 11. The flower farm would buy at 11 and the spp would sell at 11.
The SPP sells to the 2 fabs, the flower farm sells to the refinery, money is actually changing hands albeit your own. So to calculate the profits earned by the sun oil refinery, I'd still need to set the buying prices to 11/11, instead of 0/0?
The flower farm would make 0 profit as it's burning as much ecells as it's making flowers. If the SPP buys crystals at 1684 it just breaks even to sell at 11. Hence the overall profit for this loop is calculated *not* by setting any zero values for the sun oil refinery, else it's severely bloated and incorrect profits?

ratios
This is great stuff and I hate to quibble with a minor point, but the station calculator does not seem to quite use the correct ratios for xtal/EC.
You can find the zero profit point for a SPP by setting EC price at 12 and Xtal at 1620. This implies a ratio of 135:1. I'm probably mistaken but I thought it was 2 xtal to make 276 EC.
I had been trying to gather all the data together for an excel based planner. Obviously I no longer need to do this.

SectorPlanner - Reading the Savegames
Kudos on Sectorplanner !
However, the fact that it can't read X2 savegames is a
SHAME - SHAME - SHAME ! ! !
Read somewhere in the readme or so that savegames ARE being
looked into, but actual implementation is unlikely
I would like to offer my help in fixing that.
Unless egosoft refuses to fill me in on the details of the savegame files,
I should be able to at least program an interface for you that extracts
station details and puts them into an interface file.
If egosoft in fact does refuse to reveal the structure of the saves, I'm
afraid I can't help. (Since that would mean CRACKING them, which
I'm not willing to do).
Let me know what you think!

Sector planner also shows that NPC SPPs produce enough ecells for 9 factories. This is incorrect. NPC SPPs only produce enough ecells to support 4.35 factories (someone has stated that the sun % does not affect NPC SPPs).
You can correct this for yourself by updating the Universe.xml file and changing the products produced value from 9 -> 4 (it only seems to accept integers).

Re: SectorPlanner - Reading the Savegames
Well ive been looking into a script that will create a report on your empire, however, im stuck since you cant get the player ranks through scripting.slartibartfas wrote:I should be able to at least program an interface for you that extracts

So if you want, I could modify it to create a log of every station, that could be translated for use with the sector planner. PM me if ur intrested
