So there I am, giving my destroyer fleet the order to go smack some Xenon, and what does my sole Sapporo do? Does it hang back with the big Behemoths, lobbing its glorious barrage missiles from a sensible, safe distance? Does it heck. No – it decides to scoot right up under K’s belly and gently nuzzle its long snout against K’s rear end, as if it’s trying to plant a kiss on the bloody thing. Completely ignoring the fact that its defences are made of wet tissue paper with a stealth modification installed.
You can imagine, if it’s that fond of K, it’s hardly going to be best mates with the Behemoths, is it?
And it’s not that it can’t fire its missiles. Oh no. The moment K pops, it’s like someone’s flicked a switch – it goes completely berserk and starts spamming heavy missiles at the fighter swarm at double speed. I mean, really – heavy torpedoes against little interceptors? What on earth is that supposed to achieve? Apart from, of course, losing lock, veering off, and plastering our own Behemoths square in the backside.
Honestly, is it secretly taking revenge for K? Is it a Xenon sympathiser? At this point, I’m half expecting it to start flying Xenon colours.
What did I ever do to land myself with this one?
What did I tick in the settings to make my Sapporo fall in love with K?

What did I tick in the settings to make my Sapporo fall in love with K?

Just now, something else happened – except this time, there were no other chattering Xenon parrots buzzing about, just a lone K. As the Sapporo was about to charge right up to it, it suddenly let rip a volley of missiles, looking for all the world like someone running towards a long‑lost relative and throwing their arms wide open. That bewildered K, however, clearly couldn't handle the sheer shock of it all, and promptly blew up on the spot. Thankfully, after that the Sapporo just sat there in a daze – and I'm profoundly grateful I hadn't strapped any explosives to it for a suicide run.

Fire Authorizations - Does the ship in question act aggressively, or passively? This will change behavior.
Is the ship a fleet leader, fleet subordinate, or going solo? If solo, probably just the above issue. If fleet lead, probably the above and/or default behavior you set it to.
If subordinate, is it assigned to attack (attacks fleet leaders target) defend (defends fleet leader after it is hit, shoots at the one who hit the fleet leader) bombard (aggressively seek out and destroy L/XL size enemies that hit radar range).
Last, turret fire control settings. Turret range matters, the ship will try and get close if there is enough dps in the shorter range weapons along with proper/improper settings such as setting them all to "attack my target"

Now, I set the Sapporo separated to "Defend with leader", It seems much better, but the Sapporo could still be in front of the fleet.

I've noticed the Sapporo tends to engage enemies from much farther out, probably due to its increased radar range. This means it is often the first to respond to a hostile ship, and might be going alone as a result.

Go alone isn't a problem, as long as it keep a fire distance.
