How difficult would it be to add a couple of extra pieces of information about the selected target on the HUD? Currently it shows target type, distance, and velocity (I assume only the forwards component).
If anyone has played combat flight sims like the Falcon series or DCS, you'll know how useful it is to know how rapidly the distance to target is changing (rate of closure). It would be great to have that displayed under the target velocity, in m/s. It's also useful to know which way the target is pointing, since most engagements take place at distances where it's not possible to see the target itself (just the target designator box).
[REQUEST] Display target's rate of closure and aspect angle on HUD

Used to be in X3, you had a target window in the upper left or right where it showed the targeted ship, with the view of it relative to your ship. So a ship that was facing you in the target window meant it was headed directly towards you, you could tell its direction of travel relative to your ship very easily.Golf33 wrote: Fri, 3. I agree on the rate of closure, that would be a nice piece of information to have as well.

So... Not 100% sure if this might actually help you, but... There is a mod called Better Target Monitor that incorporates a bit more information on targeted ship (and with slightly different layout/lools). In particular it will show you an ETA towards a target, as well as velocity delta between you and the target. Not 100% sure if it takes into the account vectors or just the target's (and your player ship's) speed - you may want to test it out.Golf33 wrote: Fri, 3. No info on where the target is facing, though.
P.S.
And yeah - X3 target monitors were awesome. It was a nice way to figure out at a glance what a big target is doing, or what is the status of your wingman.

Pretty sure this is just a math question =)
I'm extracting information about targets already with my x4-simpit mod. I may give this a try but don't expect anything soon. I'm neck deep in $otherStuff right now :/

That mod is quite helpful, thanks!azaghal wrote: Mon, 6. Jul 26, 17:25So... Not 100% sure if this might actually help you, but... It would be better to have the data show next to the target designation box but having it in the info panel is still pretty useful.
