Just wanted to share an interesting show I got to watch in Lasting Vengeance.
So, I popped most of the stations there cause I was bored, waiting for the Zeus to respawn. I had an interesting exchange / show happen. Now I noted that the pirates and duke's are listed as allies. So I am trying to figure out why they attacked a Pirate Mobile Pirate Base that entered the sector (assuming it was delivering a replacement station). 2 of the Duke's Military Nemesis began attacking it as soon as it entered system.
I know there is a bug that causes the boarding frigates to remain paranid, and thus get attacked and destroyed. But the pirate one amuses me. The TL was out of LooManck. I'm surprised it made it there.

Re: Duke's ver Pirates Bug?
Just a guess on my part as it sounds similar to an issue I've run into....
My guess would be that at some point, the Duke's were handling some business in their sector and accidentally tagged the station with some laser or missile fire. Not enough of course to upset the race relations, but enough for that station to hate them and thus appear as an enemy.
I've had a similar thing happen myself. In my case, I was handling some business in a sector where I have assets. My patrol ship got to close to a few stations and pissed them off and I've no way to repair that relationship with the station. My relations are fine with that race, but those stations hate me. Apologizing to captial ships and so on in that sector and others don't fix it. So, those stations are dead to me, can't dock nor can my ships for sales. And I cannot put patrol ships in there as they will start attacking those stations and damage the race relationship.
I even went the extra mile to attempt to fix this by destroying the stations and repairing the relationship with the race. When those stations respawn, they are still red and cannot do anything with them. And there is nobody to talk to on those stations to attempt to fix the issue.

Yea but these were freshly spawned corvette ships attacking an unarmed TL ship that was delivering a station for them. I actually protected the TL by popping the attackers with torpedoes. It was just very odd behavior. And in the case of OOS combat, accidentally hitting a station wouldn't be possible.DJVicious wrote: Fri, 29. I cannot be sure in either case. What I can say, is that when I was running sector patrols, I get the notice that something was under attack. I'd look in that sector, see my patrol ships handling some business with some Xenon and there would be no other ships from other races in the vicinity and yet, moments later, I would get the "Youve lost notoriety" notification. When I look to see who I'd lost notoriety with, it would be the race of the sector the patrol was in. Common denominator.... There was a station close by the action.

Check the friend/foe settings on those ships. One may be set hostile to the owner of that race. I've never had that problem. And if it did happen, it was usually because they attacked something belonging to that race. Most common reason for it to happen to me:DJVicious wrote: Tue, 2. Patrol was in New Income. And I am hostile towards Strong Arms. My patrol engaged Strong Arms. Then the system defenders got mad at me and attacked my patrol. My patrol defended itself and popped them as well.
The Duke's ships are bugged as is. They switch between Paranid and Duke's. Sometimes the switch back fails and the Duke's will get popped by its own group. The Pirates never come into contact with the Duke's aside from the trader's. I've never seen the pirates engage them though. And the Pirate Mobile Pirate Bases are unarmed like the Ozias. Though they do have a massive hangar that you could classify them as an unarmed carrier.
And speaking of the Ozias, I had a rapid response Osprey engage one of mine because it was mad at me in general. It wouldn't lose the hostility towards me period. I ended up popping the Osprey with a bomber. (Funny enough, I got no rep loss when I did it.) I think it was marked rogue enemy by the Teladi. Happened in New Income as well.
The funniest I ever saw was an Argon Titan keep popping in and attacking the Rapid Response ships for the Teladi. It managed to pop one of the missile frigates. When it got low on shields/health it jumped out to repair, then came back and started it again. Same sector. (New Income is cursed I think? Shares Avarice Curse?) Then I once saw a rapid response peregrine start attacking all split ships. And I mean all split. That one happened in Ianamus Zura gamma just outside the Trading Station. Every time a new Split came in system, it got popped via Tomahawk.
The Duke's Pirates though boggles me.
