How large is your empire?
Hi!
I am curious how large empire do you build in X3 FL ?
As I am again at crossroads to wipe my empire and restart anew, playing on Guilds mod with Unofficial patch.
But before doing that wanted to know when do you limit yourself.
Currently my goal as before was to have 1 of each ship there is , if I can find a dury for it.
In total now I have 527 ship, 418 satellites , 31 station.
Fully equiped and set on some kind of duty all of Goner, Boron, Paranid and Pirate ships with few wings consiting on Terran , Xenon, Khaak M6 and lower ships who can use jumpdrive.
All carriers are fully loaded yet idle on patrol duty in their home sectors.
There is 10 UT , 10 Scouts replacing satellites in universe and 11 Scavengers picking stuff from battles in my sectors.
After first restart only dock stations are in my sectors 10 HSAP and the Hub.
And about 35 OWP on guard duty in each sector. Large ones have each 3 ships at their disposal.
And as I started outfiting ATF ships - I am at 3-5 FPS on every sector... Ram almost always close to 3 Gb. So I wonder do I dream too big or am I doing something wrong.
I have put my satellites on SEWN , but without notifications or any info on enemy ships - to lower CPU usage (want to see just loot and abadoned ships)
My ships have report settings on both trade and combat to all - so I can see info globaly and localy on each ship. (Have suspicion that reporting takes a load on CPU).
Finaly to be in charge of my ships destinies - all of them run God mode from Cycrows Cheats scripts.
Realy doubt that my hardware is an issue in all this , yet on any new start I get only 11 FPS on average according to Fraps.
CPU: i7 3930K
RAM : 24 Gb of 4 DDR3
GPU: 2x AMD Radeon HD 5700 with enabled CrossFire between them
OS: Win 10

Re: How large is your empire?
Hmm...
I don't know where to get the data.
From the character information I know I built 160 factories, but that meant very little.
I also know I claimed 70 ships and brought 90.
Unmodded, without cheats.
Currently, I am looking for the economy achievements, and to somehow ****** economy in the process. It's harder than it looks.

You can view it at the end of your property menu - there is overview.beast_regards wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Mar 26, 20:43 Hmm...

Then I have 380 stations (apparently, only things that count as factory are actual factories) mostly across pirate sectors.Ektufall wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Mar 26, 21:14You can view it at the end of your property menu - there is overview.beast_regards wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Mar 26, 20:43 Hmm...

Only 395 ships, most are small ones. I have Galleon, Brigantine, 2 Carracks, 3 TLs, 3 M6's (Osprey, Marauder, Centaur), usually stuff which could purchase from Pirates or are easy to bail. Also Teladi's Drone Frigate, because Teladi doesn't mind my other relation. I boarded Boreas, but I have only one.
A total net worth according to empire statistics is only around 4 billion.
So, overall, not much, as I am limited to very small areas.

Re: How large is your empire?
And do you feel that game runs as smooth as you would want it to run?
There is very little info even on X3TC/AP on upper empire limit players have achieved without hate quiting
I am still curios if someone was able to run let's say 2k ships + 2k stations and still be able enjoy plot missions or casual stroll between sectors.

I didn't experience any noticeable slowdowns or dips in the overall FPS.Ektufall wrote: ↑Fri, 6. Mar 26, 23:55 And do you feel that game runs as smooth as you would want it to run?

Sectors with a lot of traffic and a lot of stations aren't slowed down, and I am doing lot of taxi missions due to the fact how reliant the X3FL game is on having agents. I never did this many missions in AP. Travelling and occasional combat doesn't seem to slow down the game yet.
I experienced few instances where the game froze for split seconds, but they occurred randomly, independently on the number of ships in game. In fact, it seemed to be the opposite: jumping to less busy sectors did it.
So far, I didn't think I hit the point where the game can no longer run in X3.
I am not sure if I could run X4 without a hitch, but so far I have a problem running X3 after 400+ hours in AP and 300+ hours in TL.
Supposedly terran sectors are extra laggy, but I didn't manage to unlock them yet.

Do you have any experience with these ?:
Satellite Network
Reports from ships or stations (you can set up these Advanced > Reports)
Large fleet of UT's (universe traders)
A I mentioned playing with satellite network setup - i found that for me most optimized way to use it is to disable enemy reporting and just use for abandoned ships and cargo.
Less drag on CPU and less clutter in notifications/messages.
In regard of reports I until now used all setting on both Trade and Combat (report saves relevant data - trades made, ships killed , on both global level and ship/station level).
But that seems to increase drag on CPU (as reports are one of few global script tasks).
So now I going ship by ship , station by station and changing to global from all setting, to see if that changes something.
In regard of UT's - now I keep just 10 , so my trade rank stays as it is or increse slowly.
Before first reset I had around 50+ , but soon learned that UT scripts are among most heaviest form my poor CPU.
Even more so if I keep my satellite network cover more than 300 sectors through my scouts.
Guilds mod have merchant guild satellite uplink equipment to not use your own satellites , but I want to be able to see activity in sectors and the more coverage I have the more trade info there is for UT's to calculate.

Re: How large is your empire?
I always set-up satellite networks manually, replace satellites manually, and often leave many sectors dark.Ektufall wrote: ↑Sat, 7. Mar 26, 15:48Thanks for sharing.beast_regards wrote: ↑Sat, 7. In X3FL, dynamic relations means that half of your satellite network would be destroyed by factions suddenly turning hostile, making maintaining the network pointless. Your satellites would be destroyed often in the otherwise friendly faction territory if they are frequented by the traders with fighter escorts, like OTAS and Terracorp.
Xenon invasions are also more common. I haven't bothered to replace the satellites in half of Teladi sectors and those are neutral as any time random Q or K could jump in and wreak havoc.
I don't use reports. I used to, to know if the stations are receiving traffic, but I found out it only creates needles messages that litter the in-game message inbox that couldn't be effectively managed.
I don't use Universe Traders at all. They don't work in X3FL or have diminishing returns as the universe is in a state of disarray and they are constant shortages of goods. Random hostilities means I lose traders constantly, making levelling them up pointless as only Armored Transports have enough shields to even withstand the attack (and they have nothing to buy as factions kill each other traders constantly)
Any active income I have comes from either missions, usually trade and transport ones, and transactions on black market. My passive income comes from stations, usually with station manager controlled freighters. Sometimes without, some complexes like ones in Lost Order or in Harmony of Perpetuity, could generate a lot of money, though in case of Harmony I need 100 lasertowers to keep it alive.

Re: How large is your empire?
Hmm this start to explain why I am where I am at my playthrough.
As I mentioned, I tend to be in charge what and when dies, by using these two:
God mode from : X3FL Cheat Package
No dynamic relations : Disabled Dynamic Relations (But I suspect that by beeing at TC plot stage in Guilds would acomplish the same state)
So my utopia is rarely seen in any playthrough.
My 10 scouts replenish satellites faster than Xenon, Khaak or rare Pirate could destroy them - and my network almost always is at 300+ satellites.
And others stay friends with me till I decide that I want to start an open war with them.
Update on reports -it seems that changing from all to global on all my 500+ ships gave me back some CPU resources.
How many station managers do you have at the moment?
Before first restart I had around 200+ individual stations all runing station manager and impacted seemed almost the same as from large fleet of UT's.

Re: How large is your empire?
I am playing the vanilla game without mods, so the dynamic relations are pretty much in full swing.
I have hostile (i.e. lowest possible) relations with Argon, Boron, Paranids, OTAS, Terracorp.
The situation is especially bad with Borons, where I already started to encounter serious penalties for agents. Most Agent actions with Boron cost more influence than 1k, making the relations completely beyond repair.
I have friendly (and even maxed out) relations with Pirates and Teladi
As a result, I have only stations in either Pirate sectors, or sectors which lack any real supervision (like Harmony of Perpetuity or Void Alpha). Exceptions are 4 complex in Seizewell, which is Teladi's space, two of which aren't self-sustaining and need station manager to coordinate supply, rest does it mostly for export. Some don't have any station manager.
There is around 20 or so automatic (station manager) controlled freighters.

Re: How large is your empire?
I managed to freeze one sector with too many stations / ships. That was the claimable sector off the east gate of Unseen Domain. It only freezes when I enter it. Had about 14 capital ships in it including a Valhalla, at least 5 complexes for various goods, PHQ, EqDock and Trade Dock, + about 3 ore mines.
As for ship numbers and stations, I've gotten 4k of ships with no problems. Most were small fighters, but I had a significant number of carriers, frigates and destroyers. More than all races combined. I also had about 300 - 400 factories/stations scattered about Teladi space.
To the person looking, you can see exact numbers in Net Worth under Empire Management.
This was on vanilla 1.3 version of the game, un-modified. (I did use a few exploits though fixed after 1.3)
