Any idea when GOG will actually be providing the update and Envoy Pack for Linux download?

Sadly, there is still no linux version available for both 8.0 and the new DLC.

As always, we provide GOG with the update, and they then have to go through some manual process to produce the offline installers for Linux users. We have absolutely no control over how long this takes, and get no information about it from GOG until users tell us it's available.

Does someone know how to start the questline on an existing save?

I am sitting there with seta and in cockpit for a while now, but no mission offer or contact.

Just fly through a few sectors, you should get a distress call from someone called Brend.

Just waiting in SETA mode is probably not the way. This thread has some hints.

The last few DLCs usually need you to fly around in certain areas of the universe to trigger those missions. Flying around Argon Prime / Hatikvah should trigger both the Hyperion DLC (Hatikvah) quest and the Envoy DLC quest.

Some people are discussing it here:

- viewtopic.php?p=5290370#p5290370

I can confirm that using my most advanced save with hundreds of hours triggering both mini DLCs correctly.

Not Argon Prime. Whilst it can trigger in Hatikvah's Choice I, I wouldn't recommend trying to trigger it there above other places.

There's a few triggers:

  • Fly through non-ARG, non-DLC sectors, so likely trigger points will be in TEL, PAR or HOP space.
  • Don't have the map open when trying to trigger it as that commonly prevents the player from receiving communications.
  • The Hyperion plot will try to trigger before the Envoy plot will. If you haven't already done or accepted the Hyperion plot, then accept the communication, go through the initial dialogue and then leave it. Doing this can remove a potential trigger conflict.

Just refunded the Envoy Pack on GOG as there's still no Linux version, and they haven't bothered to respond to a support request about it.

If I get the base game on Steam, can I use the DLC purchased on GOG with that? Or does the Steam version only work with DLC purchased through Steam?

No, DLCs purchased on GOG won't work on Steam. Rest assured that GOG will release the Envoy Pack for Linux; it just sometimes takes them a little time to do so.
