Scanning a Xenon PE
I'm trying to complete the Scan a Xenon Ship mission (specifically a xenon pe). I've scanned one to 100%, but didn't get credit for the scan. I had the mission set as active. Any advice?

You weren't also supposed to find anything on it from the mission briefing, such as energy cells for example?

In the past, we have managed to pertform detailed scans on a number of Xenon. To progress in our research, we require a follow up scan on a specific Xenon to better understand their development over time.
Target reveal percentage: Target scan percentage: 98%
Objectives
1: Fly to: XEN Raiding Party PE
Faction: Argon Federation
Oppposing Faction: Xenon
Reward 560,980 Cr + High Energy Catalyst
Difficult: Medium

The description and using the name "XEN Raiding Party PE" sounds like it means one PE in particular. Did the guidance highlight the specific one you scanned?

It's not highlighting any. That's why I just picked one.

Re: Scanning a Xenon PE
Any more details available if you open the briefing? I don't do a lot of missions tbh but from what I recall some will want you to fly to x area and search for a ship. So in that case (or if you haven't seen the sector the ship is in) maybe it won't highlight it right away. But if that's the case it ought to tell you in there somewhere where you need to look.
Otherwise, maybe it literally means any "XEN Raiding Party PE". There are a few different names given to PEs so it's possible the one you scanned was something else.

It says SPECIFIC Xenon. And not Any. Meaning it for some reason it wants you to scan a specific ship without telling where it is. Never seen one of those missions before, for the record. You could try reporting it as a possible bug.Willivan0706 wrote: ↑Tue, 19. Aug 25, 23:30 "

Never mind this post.
I thought your mission objective was to scan for ships carrying cargo.

Do you have visibility to whole galaxy map (have revealed gates / sectors)?
As comes to my mind if ship is in sector which you haven't yet visited game cannot show you the guidance properly.
Another option is that the ship got destroyed but game does not end the mission as failed.
You don't have mods in use?

The mission is not leading me anywhere. Other missions still terminated at a jump I had yet to go through.

When a mission is leading you to a sector you've not yet discovered, you can ask nearby NPCs for directions. That will restore the guidance to the nearest gate. Try that, maybe?Willivan0706 wrote: ↑Wed, 20. Aug 25, 19:16 The mission is not leading me anywhere. Other missions still terminated at a jump I had yet to go through.
I'd assume if it really wants you to scan a SPECIFIC PE and and has not yet failed, that means the ship is still alive.
You can also reveal gates with long range scan... undiscovered structures on the map will appear as question mark, but gates will be marked as unknown OBJECT when you hover over the question mark.

Re: Scanning a Xenon PE
Do you have the most recent version of the game (7.60) and all DLCs (Hyperion Pack, Timelines etc)?
Depending your game state others may could help if you upload your save to public reputable site (e.g. Dropbox, Google) and share the link.
I personally have limited possibilites to help as don't own Timelines or Hyperion Pack (yet).

I have mission from Zyarth to scan 1 of their Microchip factory.Unfortunately that station was wacked by Xenon 120+ hours ago but mission still haven't failed.

I just own the base game. I'm planning to add the DLC's when they go on sale again.

Re: Scanning a Xenon PE
It does seem either bugged or very poorly designed. Managed to locate and scan a "Raiding Party PE" to no apparent effect, and if it wanted one specific PE somewhere out in the world, I saw no indication where to look. Even if it were a place you've not been yet, there's usually some indication you need to find a gate to proceed.

That's exactly what I was thinking. There's always an indicator of, at least, which direction to head.LameFox wrote: ↑Thu, 21. Aug 25, 06:06 It does seem either bugged or very poorly designed. Re: Scanning a Xenon PE
You may could create official bug report to Tech Sp forum as you have already save available and properly documented background about the issue.
In good case scenario this could be fixed before 8.0 goes to release stage if devs can check it out.
