Looks like I'll have to stop calling my rep trade and crate opening ships "agents" lol.

Just a random thought - does that embassy room with round table is future proof for potential new factions in future?

I mean the table has limited space and limited amount of chairs, so I assume there is a limit how many representative can be in the room?

This sounds amazing. I think the game was in need for a diplomacy update. Thanks for continuing to support the game!

Think I counted 22 seats, dont think there are enough factions to fill them all as about 6 were empty.

I'm hoping for a seat with a white cat, and 22 buttons, and a pool of water underneath the room.

Still might be a low buffer, if there would be new factions in future, or if people use mods.

I hope the diplomacy update introduces new challenges rather than just more ways for the player to become OP.

I liked the diplomacy in X3FL, but their diplomacy was a counter to the dynamic reputation system. The two together were reasonably balanced. I thought they worked well together. Unfortunaly, despite me liking it, dynamic reputation won't be popular, so I guess that is not happening :(

My first thought at looking at the screenshots was Civ6's world congress. I was not a fan of the way Civ 6 handled that.

Ooh there's a thought, please dont do an X3FL player dynamic reputation slide, that single thing ruined FL for me.
Or, if you do .. make it an optional feature.

23 factions in the game currently. Xenon and Kha'ak most likely won't have a seat there. That leaves 1 spot for an additional faction (DLC???) or the player.

Numbers 'n stuff
Spoiler
Show
Base game 12 [-1]: ARG, ANT, HAT, PAR, HOP, BUC/TEM, ALI, TEL, MIN, SCA, XEN, KHK | you can unite PAR+HOP to TRI
Split Vendetta 3 [+1]: ZYA/RHA, FRF, FAF, CUB | CUB only if you choose support them
Cradle of Humanity 3: TER, PIO, YAK
Tides of Averice 2: VIG, RIP
Kingdom End 1: BOR
Timelines 1: QUE

Makes a total of up to 23 factions if you side against ZYA. BUC can be turned into TEM and have their rep unlocked, same for SCA. Only XEN and KHK can't be changed at all.
Up to 21 factions that can potentially be your buddies.

In the scene I could see 1 Boron, 1 Yaki, 2 that seem to be VIG + RIP, 3 Paranids (probably PAR, HOP, ALI), 2 Humans in TER and PIO uniform, 2 Argons (ARG, ANT) and 2 Teladi (probably TEL, MIN), 1 female Split (probably FRF) and 1 Argon? between the 2 Paranids (I guess it could be HAT). So what's missing at the table are all factions that start with negative rep towards the palyer, and QUE. So 1 seat per faction seems to fit.

I am guessing some minor factions may not engage in diplomacy. As for large factions... well, adding those is probably limited by keeping the game running more than modelling a bigger table.

I'm guessing that diplomacy is not going to be as much fun as fighting, but it will be a good alternative. Thanks for continuing to update this game.

I do not know what this diplomacy update contains but the trailer does mention warfare. Here's something I would like to be able to do.

The X4 world is static, sectors remain under the control of the same factions. Yes, we can take them over for our own faction but we cannot build an Administrative Center in the name of a particular faction. For example I would like to start a game as an Argon and clear out the freeky 3-eyed Paranid sectors to the south and claim them for the glorious Argon Federation.

This seems easy enough to implement. Get to maximal faction and add a drop down to the Administrative Center to select the desired faction, mine or one I have raised to 30.

I would also like to start the game as any race and raise them to total domination, even the pirate ones. I would love to raise the Yaki or Duke's Buccaneers from simply being an annoyance to total domination!

I really hope the reputational dynamics will be improved. If I sell weapon parts to HOP, then my Argon rep should go down in proportion to how much it went up for Argons. The same way that, when China delivers drone parts to Russia, the EU and US are not amused.

There could still be player actions that only have positive reputational effects, like destroying Khaak or Xenon. Or even selling food stuff. But you should not be able to feed weapons and ships to two warring parties, without any reputational impact.

Egosoft have put out another video (after the one linked in the OP), which also towards the end mentions the new Diplomacy. We get a better look at the new room which will be onboard the PHQ ..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79Y2sZDBHXY

.. I wonder if Boso Ta is going to get out of his fish tank and be able to participate. There is a Boron in the video, but thats probably just a Boron representative.

Hello,

Nobody really knows what features will comes with the diplomacy update, but i wanted to share some requests or idea i have for the diplomacy and what we could do with diplomats and agents.

What i'm expecting is that we we'll be able to not only trade credits, merchandies and inventory items, but also reputation.
What i mean is that i hope for options like : i can send an agent to increase/decrease reputation between two factions, but my action can lower my reputation to one or these two factions.
Other example, i want to get from a faction, a discount for a trade-good, or selling it to a higher price, but it will at the cost of my relationships with this faction.

I think we got some good examples recently, that raising taxes on some products make people a little upset to you.
Same thing if you want to force people to sell goods to a lower price.

And as opposite way, i could offer discounts to a faction for some goods, to improve my relationship with them.

I think that kind of feature that gonna benefit to X4's gameplay. It'll fit very well with people that plays with gaps in economy: we'll get so many options to play with that.

While we go about construction of an embassy maybe we will get the option for Dal to have his own office. Time he moved out Boso's lab.

Thats a good call, I always thought it a bit weird that he set up shop in Boso's tank room, there isnt even a seat for him to chill out in.
