I wonder if they might start to get buyers remorse? I mean these cuts will effect a lot of people, while only the rich will really benefit. On top of all the job losses. Come next year, I wonder how many will really regret the choice that they made?

I've yet to see buyers remorse from either Trump or Putin supporters. We can have a dedicated thread listing alternative reasons used.

I mean there has been a bit of buyers remorse allready (an example). The question is just if that will change anything.

Wasn't this the same under his presidency last time? "Drain the swamp" (Christ, he can't say that now can he - they're creating the damned swamp!) caught on. I'm struggling to find the source, but I was under the impression I read that previously business benefitted but the average Joe didn't really.

That's maybe one out of two direct "buyers remorse" articles I've read in 12 years. But anyways, what have we learned there...

Well, the big difference here is, Trump and Musk are firing federal workers, left right and centre. Plus Trump is going to put 25% tariffs on EU imports. So things are going to raise. Egg prices are going through the roof. And there is very likely another government shutdown. I would say, Trump 2.0 is far worse then 1.0. So its going to get a lot worse. This and other cuts, will see those who are struggling, will be even worse off, while the rich will get richer.

It depends on how long before this really sinks in? But, I say, by this time next year, things will be even worse for America. And the poorest hit will be even worse. I guess it really depends on a few factors. and how well people are at the moment. But it does seem that Trump have given Musk even greater power. so expect even more people jobless soon enough.

Trump 2.0 is much worse. Haven't seen any news articles or photos of the detainees in Guantanamo Bay. Media is controlled by Trump in that if you want news you need to be positive towards him. Trump got rid of Obama Care which ended up killing a bunch of people. Getting rid of medicaid would kill more people and put more stress on them in a time where he's creating more inflation and less income due to tariffs/reputation/choices. Decreasing food stamps at any point is bad but now food prices are crazy all over the world and I doubt food stamps have increased enough to counter that inflation.

Measles outbreak in US seems eminent. Government says it's ok.

EU/US tariffs really matter? Canada can and is filling in for natural resources and some stuff. China's always willing to help. Mexico, India, South America, Asian countries produce tons of stuff. Can skip the US.

Bernie Sanders seems to be drawing crowds. Government workers had sit ins at representatives offices. Musk getting sued. Government getting sued. Musk is head of doge but at the same time still not employed by doge depending on what's convenient or gets him out of legal trouble. Doge government staff quit rather than help Trumps doge team. China stops titanium exports to the US?

Just do a google search for "detainees in Guantanamo Bay" and you will see numerous articles and photos.
Trump got rid of Obama Care which ended up killing a bunch of people.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as Obamacare, remains in effect and continues to provide healthcare coverage to millions of Americans.
Getting rid of medicaid would kill more people and put more stress on them in a time where he's creating more inflation and less income due to tariffs/reputation/choices.
No one is getting rid of Medicaid. Abuse of Medicaid is another story.
Decreasing food stamps at any point is bad but now food prices are crazy all over the world and I doubt food stamps have increased enough to counter that inflation.

Measles outbreak in US seems eminent. Government says it's ok.
Measels outbreaks have occurred in the United States in 2014, 2018-2019, and 2023. Typically, this occurs among unvaccinated groups. Kennedy is keeping a close eye on it. Standard procedures are being implemented.

I could go on. My point is, please check your sources. As bad as Trump 2.0 may be, there is no benefit to making stuff up. It just adds to the anxiety and distress.

anti vaccine person is in Health and Human Services
&
a child who died was not vaccinated

those are not related of course, why would anyone freely skip the vaccine if not for conspiracy?
(strong allergy aside)

is this a preview of what's next?

Is it on the evening news. If not then that's my point. It's been pushed to the back and hidden away.
Observe wrote: Thu, 27. Feb 25, 22:14 The Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly known as Obamacare, remains in effect and continues to provide healthcare coverage to millions of Americans.
Trump tried numerous times to get rid of Obamacare but was prevented from doing so by other governments agencies. Thought he succeeded but didn't. My bad.
Observe wrote: Thu, 27. Feb 25, 22:14 No one is getting rid of Medicaid. Abuse of Medicaid is another story.
Medicaid will be reduced or eliminated if the current budget blueprint goes through. It's a reality that's supported by many mainstream news services and people. Programs like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) are also on the table. Some other health care programs fundings have been reduced. You can Google it if you want to.

Usually the government would run a vaccine program to get kids vaccinated. Number of cases per unit time is higher this year than usual. Still not worse than 2019 but will likely be worse than other years. Outbreak is not limited to the US but probably being dealt with differently outside the US.

Decreasing social aid programs while increasing tax cuts, military spending and border control doesn't seem good. Getting rid of dei programs also shows a bias.

Trump is good at organizing Canadians against US.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Ontario Premier Doug Ford won reelection to lead Canada’s most populous province on Thursday, giving him the mandate he wanted to fight tariffs threatened by U.S. President Donald Trump.

“Donald Trump thinks he can break us,” Ford told a cheering crowd at a Toronto convention center. “He thinks he can divide and conquer, pit region against region. Donald Trump doesn’t know what we know.

“Let me be clear. Canada will never, ever be the 51st state. Canada is not for sale.”

Unofficial results from Elections Ontario showed Ford’s Progressive Conservative Party would win a majority, giving him his third term as premier.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose Liberal Party will choose a new leader March 9, congratulated Ford on his victory.

“At this crucial time, we must work together to defend Canadian interests, protect workers and businesses, and grow our economy,” Trudeau said in a statement.

...

Ford has said his government is prepared to spend “tens of billions of dollars” to protect jobs and the economy of Ontario, and he has mused about making Americans pay more for the electricity Ontario sends to the U.S.

for a thought exercise, let's go through this

what if Northern States join Canada. Let's call it USA 14th+.

Many northern States struggle against Federal backtrack on issues that are long been solved in Canada:
- are vaccines good for you
- should abortion be legal
- should healthcare be accessible to all
- should people have a safety net
- should your taxes return to you in form of public infrastructure
- should Internet be unrestricted (net neutrality)
- should education be accessible to all
- should people have equal rights are all?

by joining Canada, you not only gain more independence and State rights, you will also move forward on these topics.

Southern States get a good deal too out of this. With Northern States moving to Canada, US doesn't really need things like elections and the Democratic party.

Budget plan to cut medicaid and probably food programs is a step closer after being passed by the House. Top 5% of earners get a tax cut which might very well include the people voting on the budget. Give yourself a raise while taking from the poor.

There have been made cuts to veteran affairs including large firings of staff. Some have been undone. Can google other articles and news media if it interests you.

Parts of US joining Canada would work but they would have to obey gun laws and stuff. California, Maine, Washington, etc... could join. Can hold a vote. Most of the red states are poorer states with low population densities.

Speaking theoretically, US States could go on with their own gun laws till a common ground with federal law is agreed on.

I didn't look where Federal law on guns ends and Province laws begin. Interesting question perhaps. The answer might be different per Province

Message from accused anti-vaccine Secretary Kennedy.
Kennedy wrote:Supported Texas Department of Health through technical assistance and vaccines (2K MMR doses through immunization program).

We will continue to fund Texas’ immunization program. Ending the measles outbreak is a top priority for me and my extraordinary team at HHS.

Deportees describe how they were held in Guantanamo. When I was younger we visited Hohenschönhausen, a prison complex used by the East German Stasi to incarcerate suspected political opponents of the socialist government. There a former prisoner gave us a tour of the complex and described the conditions in which he was held. In line with the German educational system, his description was viscerally honest and not censored as our class was not that young. Reading that article I was reminded of that visit multiple times.

clakclak wrote: Sun, 2. Mar 25, 15:14 Deportees describe how they were held in Guantanamo.
Keep in mind, Guantanamo is intended as a short-term confinement for illegal aliens who are in the process of being deported. Supposedly, those who are sent there are the worst of the worst violent offenders. Most stay there for a few days or sometimes a few weeks until they can be sent to their home countries.

I did read the linked article. The two prisoners profiled claim they are not criminals. Well, they are criminals by virtue of being here illegally. As to whether they are the 'worst of the worst', is hard to tell. Naturally, as in the case of most prisons, there is a majority who claim innocence.

Nevertheless, I'm sure it is no fun to be there - or any prison for that matter. Hopefully their confinement is short, and they can be successful in their new lives.

That said, it is a horrific situation all around. We can't be having mass illegal residents. At the same time, it is understandable why many want to leave their countries of birth and come to the US.

So much sadness and suffering.
