I know it's a challenge to get through the video especially as a Trump supporter. But why not give a go maybe? Be objective and without personal attacks.

In their true fashion it is a long and frustrating video

Trump seizes control of the executive branch of the government.

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/02/1 ... s-00204798

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential ... -agencies/

These include the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission, all of which enact regulations and can impose hefty fines on businesses that violate the rules.

Trump also got rid of those pesky anti bribery business laws. Now bribery is legal again.

The Republicans will soon have to change their name to the monarchists with Trump declaring himself king.

If anyone is wondering what I am on about.

That's not necessarily a bad thing. As the article says, France, UK and other nations can fine those companies if those companies operate in *their* country, but bribe in third countries.

We could make hundreds of millions off of fines levied on corrupt US companies \o/

And so Birthright citizenship heads to the SC, I don't know which way they will rule. On one hand, they could toss the case out without hearing it. Trump could very well bypass the court regardless. Or those corrupt judges could rule in favour of Trump. Then I say, that is another nail in American democracy. Not sure when they will decide on the case, but whichever way they rule, America is at a crisis point already.

Yet another nail for the coffin: Trump administration fires top US general and Navy chief in unprecedented purge of military leadership
Trump has railed against what he called “woke” generals and officers, and Brown was a frequent target of right-wing criticism. Many officials in the Pentagon openly wondered whether Brown would be fired quickly after Trump’s inauguration.

First question I had when reading your comment was "whose coffin?". Assuming the US in general?

Refer back to Jon Stewart when, in response to a young fella asking about staying positive in the face of the current situation, he pointed out that folks in the 50's and 60's would reply "you think this is bad, you should have seen it back in our day!", and that things will just continue on. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j32Q4fJ67CE

We thought Trump would end the world the first time around. Okay, this time he may have a significant impact upon Ukraine and America's wellbeing -- but currently it'd appear Americans are just hand wringing (though this may be a lack of media coverage over this side of the pond on how things are going down in the US), so... we're at where we're at; and we'll be going where we're going.

Undoubtedly it's going to feel like there's a heck of a lot of nails though :D

*sigh*

It is a ~very~ bad thing that this whole anti DEI campaign costs people their jobs AND that Trump is further undermining the established systems by promoting his guys. I'm sorry if all you have to say here is either "lolz - what are you talking about" or "Come on, don't be a doomsayer!". I also don't care wether there were worst times on earth already. My points are that a) this is bad b) this has to stop c) we are moving backwards very fast. Humans should be better than this. Suffice to say I neither find the situation funny nor can I label it with "just more of the Trump stuff - get used to it".

*sigh*

I'm sorry if you think my response is "lulz", when it isn't. As Jon pointed out (maybe this is why you think it's seen as funny), it's dark times undoubtedly - but things will continue and pull through.

The query over whose coffin is very valid though. Whether it's the generic country, or the head towards the end of the current leadership (as a sort of death by 1000 cuts, whereby all these decisions will eventually add up to a point the majority who voted for would now vote against), or "democracy" (which is where I'd usually expect it to be referred to), at which point I would have queried was this not part of the campaign pledges/promises and therefore "democracy in action".

America voted for this; that's a US cultural issue to be dealt with by the US and it doesn't appear that's happening. Just the usual divided lines and contempt from one side towards the other, and hand wringing by the other.

Then, as said, our media doesn't really give any airtime as to what the rest of the US is thinking. So... maybe there are strong arguments against all this being made, and compulsive reasoning, engagement and an overall attempt to change a narrative - no matter how late. Or maybe it's just more "this is terrible..!", and then another day.

As I understand it, he's removed a large number of Pentagon top "brass" (including the female head of the navy). But most of it is as promised in the lead up to the election is it not? Doesn't mean it's good... just pointing out it's "democracy in action" and so there's serious cultural issues that'd need to be addressed to really have any change.

Trump fires military attorneys

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/p ... 235276960/

Trump's clearing out the Pentagon now.

America voted for this won't be ok in the next election if there is one since Republicans changed the voting rules and didn't publicize it. Everyone should be able to vote and the voting districts static, etc... End anonymous voting? Musks involvement with the government and the way voting was done where he could see the results makes this vote very questionable. Trump doesn't seem like he's going to leave office and is reinforcing his position. Russia playbook that Putin followed. It's unlikely a fair vote will happen until the government is overthrown.

US CHIPS Act done due to mass firing? Could be coinciding with potential 25% tariff on TSMC. There's other sources but msn and pop ups.

US looking to put 25% Canada and India tariffs on cheap drugs that US manufacturers won't produce due to being able to produce more expensive alternate drugs.

Lumber and gasoline in the US might become more expensive.

SHould this be renamed (the thread) as it's now the Saga of the Trump Presidency.

I mean, saga for observers, not necessarily the best term for those in the US.

Also, Jon Stewart with a fresh one. I should probably seek out *some* form of US news that's non biased, but until I do, I'll rely on him to... sort of see me through :D

Thread title changed to "Trump Presidency". I was tempted to include the 'saga' bit, which would be appropriate, but generally that word has a somewhat negative connotation, and this is already a contentious enough thread as it stands. :)

White House to decide which news agencies can cover the government

https://apnews.com/article/trump-ap-new ... f90b263a59

The White House said Tuesday that its officials “will determine” which news outlets can regularly cover President Donald Trump up close

Musk gets the new FAA contract in violation of quite a few rules

https://www.cnn.com/2025/02/25/business ... index.html

US is still losing more money than it's saving due to loss of trades, employment and the cost of immigration removal which is somewhat pointless since it would take over 10 years to remove the people, cost more each year than the entire 3 years of the Ukraine war and immigrants can legally just walk across a border check point and then not leave or using temporary visas. People are still waking across the border anyways.

Resistance to Trump presidency by Republicans is growing. Republicans are usually the violent ones.

Trumps withholding federal funding for blue states still.

Still not sure if CHIP act has been axed??? Lots of bad/fake news these days. Mostly seems to be same news sources but not always.

Here is Trump's plan for the Gaza strip, including seemingly drag belly dancers on a beach, him and Netanyahu sunbeathing and lots and lots of golden statues of himself. Yes, this video was posted by Trump's own truth social account.

Republican budget blueprint cuts medicaid. Blue print for Energy and Commerce is to cut 880 billion minimum. Energy and Commerce is mainly medicaid. There isn't enough money outside of medicaid to make 880 billion so medicaid will have to be decreased. Apparently food stamps might get decreased also. Basically taking from the poor/physically and mentally disabled/vulnerable/lower income people while giving more to the upper class. Tax cuts were apparently for income earners over 300k while other low income tax payers paid the same or more taxes. Hundreds of billions going to projects (to Musk mainly) that probably won't amount to much good but to lay people off, etc...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GcmoUp1Vqo

A fake video of Donald Trump kissing Elon Musk’s feet has gone viral after it was reportedly displayed on monitors inside a government building. The video, seemingly created with the use of AI, was spotted at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Feb. 24, per NBC News. It's a nsfw video involving more than kissing feet.
