It's now been confirmed that this is a mod problem. The reason reinstalling solved it for you is because the mod in question installed files that are not removed by just disabling mods.

Hello, long time player and forum lurker here.

Congratulations to the Egosoft team for the game and the following updates. It is rare nowadays in this industry. So thank you.

Concerning the 7.50 public beta with no mod :

1-Spotted a real issue with Opentrack and my delanclip. Had no problem before. Settings are inconsistant. The freetrack connection keep connecting and disconnecting provoking the player view to go back to center as soon as there is no input from Freetrack.
TLDR: Player view automatically centers as soon as you stop moving your irl head.

This update is an incredible one for me as it was the only thing that was really bothering me with X4.
Ship flight model was really poor, but now there is character to your ship, and you feel like flying. It is great.

The last thing that is paramount to me (i'm a pilot and bounty hunter in almost each playthrough) is the Weapons FX. It lacks a lot of "oomph". Graphic wise and sound wise. Maybe that would come in a future update.
With these effects, X4 would be the absolute space sim in my eyes.

Thank you again for all you work.

Z.

Issues reported in this news thread won't be seen. As it says in the first post in this thread, and in the instructions on accessing the Public Beta, you need to report any issues you find in the Public Beta Feedback forum, one issue per thread. You also need to make sure you follow the instructions at the top of that forum and provide the requested information with each report.

So Nvidia just released new driver with DLSS support for a bunch of games, but X4 is not even mentioned. Do they even know X4 has DLSS now, guys? :D

Also do you plan on adding Frame Gen?

I like this system more, we have to pay more attention to speed, but I think that will change over time.
-- For me, if it were possible, it would be to implement this system just for the player, and leave the AI as it was, of course the AI should also be washed, but since this system is posing a problem for the AI, if do just for the player, perhaps it will solve many of the problems that are appearing?
Maybe I'm saying nonsense and one thing has nothing to do with the other, but I really like the new system, the dogfight is much better, movement in travel mode is better, everything makes much more sense now.
For now, the problems I've seen are the fighters on the aircraft carriers, what a mess, and sometimes the ships arriving or leaving the stations, all drunk with blindfolds on, sometimes they have cerebral palsy, but that's it, it's a beta and I liked it. From what I saw, apart from the confusion after a party day, lol.
I love you guys

Hi. New here!

Please please please remove the high pitched whine from M class all-round engines. it causes me intolerable discomfort and headaches and it is the sole reason I avoid them at all costs.

I am quite new to the game and this forum for that matter, and maybe this is a silly question after all. But where do I find a downloadlink to the Beta? When I try to activate it within the properties link on Steam I can only see Beta-Versions up to 7.10.

The very first post in this thread has a section entitled "How Do I Take Part in the Public Beta?". Follow the links from there to the Public Beta Feedback forum and the instructions on how to access the Public Beta.

Badgerlicious wrote: Wed, 4. Dec 24, 21:00 To be frank, flying with flight assist on (which is the only way to reliably slow down to a stop) feels horrible. There's like a stickiness to it, as if I have a giant deadzone on my inputs. This goes away with flight assist turned off, so it's not an actual deadzone on my sticks or in the game. Limiting movement to align with forward thrust in this mode is fine, but this deadzone feeling is not good.

Another addition would be a bind that functions like zeroing the throttle in flight assist mode. A space brake, essentially. Preferably bindable to an axis.

My setup is dual stick HOSAS.
There is a spacebrake binding in controls "Stop Engines" which works actively to slow the ship down to a stop. Have you tried that?

There is a mechanic which reduces steer related to speed with assist on. It is reduced at slow and fast speeds, there is a sweet spot in between about half max speed. If you boost with assist on or drop out of travel then you are going fast and cannot steer as well. Does that explain what you are encountering?

I'm really happy to receive an update to one my favorite games, I'd just like to thanks to the devs.

PLEASE make the next DLC a Yaki DLC. They need some firepower and fleshing out as they are already a very interesting faction, I would love to see more of a Yaki presence in the x universe. As well as options to support their growth as a faction.

Say what now? Any hint on what the new key binding "Toggle Cover Ability" is? :-?

Very much like the new flight model, particularly separating boost from shields. I hated having my shields drained during combat, only to not be able to get away and live.

Other things that were cool:
  • Christmas decorations in the Manager's office
  • Exhaust plume on ships
  • Other yet invisible things (or yet to be noticed)
Odd behavior with AI and the new flight model, NPC pilots seem to collide a bit more.
Missions that are lockbox recovery seem to instantly fail (around 90% of the time),, while still getting credit for it (so it seems).

Great job Egosoft! I really want to see how things evolve over the coming years!

A normal player wouldn't know how an alpha looks like - those are barely playable and have a lot of placeholders. :)

This doesn't work with flight assist off, so you cannot "turret" AND slow down at the same time.

Greetings,

I was thinking about letting it slide and disappear into the silent void of the past, not saying anything about it - but this game (and the series as a whole since X2) is very close to my heart and will always be. :(
As usual we want your feedback and are open to adjustments, within reason, please follow the notes below and avoid unnecessary discussions so we can keep a good overview of the actual feedback.
My Feedback in regards to the new Flight Model here, as I can't give any constructive feedback "within reason" for an already made choice and change:

While I am painfully aware, that I seem to be part of a minority here, I really don't like the new flight model... at all.
In addition I am not convinced, if or how this would help the percieved performance of the pilot AI in HighAttention - you finally lost me on this one.

For me, the current (classic) model is/was part of the charme of X4, in contrast to the "more physically correct/ newtonian" ones of Elite or SC, which both are products I wouldn't touch, even if you'd pay me for it.

I have to admit that I have a tiny bit of FOMO here (in regards to all the long awaited bugfixes and additions of 7.x and beyond) but there's no way I follow on the course which is set with the model change unless I see a real benefit for any aspect of the game like the mentioned AI piloting performance and/or some "future feature" which needs this as a hard baseline to function properly.

This change would justify a "new Game" (X5) from my perspective, however:

The boost change (even if years late) is amazing!

I sincerely wish you all at EGOSOFT the best for the future and hope, those changes secure a big enough playerbase of the new generation to ensure the health of the Company for yet another 25 years of Profitssss!

Kind regards,
Nilus

Myslim tym, ze ani neviem co by som nahlasil. Lebo u mna hra len preblikava a stracaju sa niektore vrstvy grafiky. Obcas to vyzera spravne a obcas ludia chodia ci poletuju v priestore pred hvieznym pozadim.

The new flight model is great, have you tried it? It is nothing like Elite or SC.
