Hi, I have built lots of solar panels at my HQ and set the sell price quite low, It is generating a rather nice passive income. It is not due to my own station assigned small trader but to the very frequent visits made by the other races. So I thought to do the same for ore, since there seems to be plenty to mine in sector, however...
I have set the price for it at the lowest but no one is coming to buy ore while there is still a constant flow of energy traders coming to get my famous e-cells.
Is it a peculiarity with ore (or EC), is it a matter of lack of demand for ore or do I need to set things up differently from what I have done with energy cells?

Ore requires mining ships to come and buy yours. I've never seen an NPC mining ship buy ore anywhere. Their jobs listing is to mine ore, not buy it. So the only way to sell your ore is to have a few of your mining ships dedicated to that task.

No NPCs have jobs or behavior to trade ore. It starts at, only a miner can haul raw resources (with like a couple exceptions in the scout class), and none of them are in trade roles.
You can add your own miners in trade roles, to go off and sell elsewhere. And people do that. And this does have some limited usefulness.

Non-player faction NPC miners do not act as traders. Ever. You can buy miners yourself, assign them as traders and have them deliver ore to NPC stations. The game will warn print a warning during assignment, but it will work. It will provide passive income too.Brinnie wrote: ↑Thu, 12. Thank you guys, I now see what the problem is. I will kit out some miners as traders and using the repeat orders, I will issue the "sell in" order.

Just as an FYI the Xenon SE M miners are pretty nice. They move everything. I run custom starts primarily with QoL mods.

You can do repeat orders but it might get tedious.
You can also assign some mining ships to trade for your station, let the manager automate everything for you.

I will keep it in mind, I normally use Wyverns as I find them fast, relatively well protected and with a decent cargo area.Baconnaise wrote: ↑Fri, 13. Sep 24, 13:41 Just as an FYI the Xenon SE M miners are pretty nice. They move everything. I run custom starts primarily with QoL mods.
@Zakaluka, what you say makes sense. I opted for repeated orders since when I used autominers they malfunctioned (as I mentioned in a recent post).
I will see if miner/traders controlled by station managers are a bit more cooperative.
